What an awful situation for you both, Cherry & Doodle's DH.

I know drugs can be a saving grace and necessary but a slavish adherence to them and profit has reduced our poor doctors to harried, 'prescribing machines'.

I've been scolded, laughed at and deeply criticised over the years for my opinion but I see your story more and more these days.
All the best for regaining an equilibrium.

Wild weather all day yesterday: thunder, lightning, hailstones, violent winds and bitter cold. I was glad to stay home

I've gone back to 'It's Funny Being Old' manuscript and hope to keep at it to completion now (with Marae Slippers as relaxation).

As Friday in the UK is Saturday here, I'll be pondering Spud and his Mummy and Daddy as I knit.

Oh dear that's awful about those meds Cherry. It doesn't sound as though it was any help at all!
And the dude being on damaging drugs.
When my DH was on chemo and immunotherapy he had different reactions to every drug. Before the cancer, he never took anything not even a paracetamol.
You can't go wrong with chocolate!

I hope the truck load of hot chocolate comes quickly.

The Dr'rang me earlier, my blood tests results came back and 👍 they're all clear 😁. The Dr thinks, as I did (and do), it's a bad case of vertigo. As I can't just stop the tablets I'm to half the dose until I hear from the clinical nurse specialist, probably at the end of next week. I still feel like I'm aboard ship but it's not quite so bad, 🤞 it'll stop soon.
What has happened to your DH is absolutely awful Doodle, I'm so sorry that this has happened to him. It must have been so hard to hear x.

I'm following Dr's orders and still resting, it's not even 7:30 and I want to go to bed. Back when I feel more with it 🤣

Cherry in a funny way I was relieved to hear they thought the medication could have caused the problem. I have thought that for months as I read up about the side effects but I didn’t expect the nurse to agree with me. Hopefully, it means if he avoids that drug his heart may be stable which would be nice but we shall wait and see.
So pleased your tests are clear. At least if it’s vertigo you know what that is and hopefully it will wear off soon if you cut down your meds.

Isn’t it lovely news about Spud. It’s been a long journey but it made me smile reading Mamissimo’s news today.

I have just finished watching a six part series on Netflix. I thought it was a bit odd when I watched it but only at the end did I release that some of the characters were playing themselves in their youth and in their old age. I thought they were all different people. Totally confused. 🤔

I have been kept occupied as if I needed it🤷‍♀️ by having a 'finishing up session' (like my meals tend to be, an eclectic mix) of sewing room stuff. I have been making crafty kiddy bracelets. Not, please note, crafty kiddy bracelets, btw.
Just friendship- type things with small wooden beads interspersed with white square alphabet tiles spelling their name. Mr.I will attest to the 'small-ness' of said beads (6mm) as he drilled the existing holes to take the jolly braid I had.

I helped by adding words of gentle encouragement and announcing that I was Quality Control in the production process.
Not the best of pronouncements, I learned.

So, all the small people on my C*******s List are now suitably endowed, but why, oh why, do I end up with more than I started with? Additional pack 'cos I ran out of Es, so to speak, ditto horn (I think they are plastic, to assuage any fears of animal cruelty) beads, so I am no better off in the clearance line.
Knitting and slippers reserved for winter occupations!

And so sorry to hear Cherry has been so poorly and that the drugs youve been taking were a waste of space. Also Doodles DH also taking useless pills. Hope you both get sorted soon. Nfk its sooo annoying when you write a long post and it disappears isnt it? I can never be bothered to write it again.
Not much news here except we have had to cancel our holiday to Yorkshire in September. It will be the first time in over 20 years we havent been to my beloved Yorkshire Dales but although we never did long walks I need to be able to walk better than I am for us to enjoy it 😪There is one piece of good news though. Ive just driven my car for the first time! Just went round the local area and will have another go tomorrow. Think its going to make me very tired though - could fall asleep now! Nothing new there! Hope everyone has a good weekend. We have friends coming for coffee tomorrow so will have a good catch up!!!

Dashing though - all well....coming home tonight! Can't tell you real name as he'd be rather identifiable 🙂 but here he is imitating a burrito!

Funny you should mention Vanilla Rooibos Grammaretto - I tried it yesterday for the first time. It doesn't actually taste of vanilla at all but only smells of it, thus fooling the senses.

I had the oddest experience today. The device on which I listen to audio books sits on my bedside cabinet and normally I listen as I fall asleep.

Though the sound level for audio are fine, it can’t be used as a phone because, for some reason, even at full volume its too low to hear anyone's voice.

It's a common problem apparently - DS suggested I use earphones but what a hassle to find them each it rings time. So it’s not used; I rely on my landline.

This morning at 7am, I was awake and planning the day, I was shot upright by an unearthly screeching from the device and lights flashing dramatically.

I could dimly hear a tiny voice and when I pick up the machine and said a weak, 'Hello?' voice said, 'Do you need Fire, Police or Ambulance?'
'I'm sorry, what was that?'
Do you need Fire Police or Ambulance?'
'None of those thank you.'
'Ma'am, are you all right?'
'Yes, just startled, that screeching noise shocked me.'
'So may I just confirm - you don't need any emergency service?'
'No, thank you, I don't.'

Tell me how a phone can, of its own accord, dial 111 (UK equivalent 999)?

In order for me to do that I would have needed to pick up the device, tap it to wake it up, find the app which deals with calls and then find out, because I have no idea, HOW to ring 111.
Oh, first I would need to find my glasses as everything is a blur without them.

It’s these inexplicable jolts which make life interesting.

Been raining all day here. We were planning a walk but the rain was too much so I’ve sat around being lazy found other things to do instead. 😊

My DM phoned 999 only once in her life and got through to 2 ladies talking
They were quite put out to be told to please put down their phones so she could speak to the emergency services.

Two Very Odd things in relation to the Emergency Call.
1. The evening before, as I knitted and listened to Hercule Poirot dealing with a client's recurring dream, it reminded me I hadn't had my own RD for a while. Numerous times I've needed to get through to the Em Serv but for many reason never can.

Then, in real life next morning…..

2. I wear a personal alarm night and day and would have no reason to ring anyone – all I have to do is press button A

Twice in real life I've needed to ring 999 and here, 111 when I have found someone collapsed (elderly ladies, not drunk but unconscious).

On neither occasion, although the call was answered, did an ambulance ever turn up, despite repeated requests for help
