I am being very lazy today. I phoned the surgery 11 times before it stopped being "engaged" to try for an appointment to see the practice nurse. Do you want face to face? Well ye-es. I had already said it was for a small procedure impossible to perform over the phone. No its not to remove my head
I think it's to be the week after next

I have decided to self medicate by eliminating dairy from my diet to see if my cough subsides.

Off to stock up on oat milk.

How are the Lobstars today?
How is the decor? Mamissimo?

We had a lovely 2 day visit from 2nd cousins from Sweden this week - they had travelled especially to see my 100 year old mother-in-law. They are well into their 80s so it was very kind of them to come. We had a lunch and a dinner in nice restaurants and high tea at my mother-in-law's home.

It was also interesting as we now feel that we understand a bit more about that side of the family.

It's early to be starting on the gin Mamissimo but I appreciate your anxious state. Is the lady decorator doing a good job?

I am ploughing on with trying to lure replacement tradespeople because there's no hope of Mr roofer returning. I've had 2 quotes for a new ceiling but it seems fairly obvious that the holes in the roof need plugged first.

Meanwhile a df phoned last night to tell me she had water coming into the kitchen from below! Her DH has left the country temporarily and she is tackling the damp.

At last a glimmer of hope and niceness for our dear Doodle.
You definitely sound happier and less anxious.
I am so glad DH's favourite people gathered round.

That sounds like a very welcome and pleasant afternoon Doodle and much needed for you.

I had a surprising day too....the knocker went at 8.00am and I staggered downstairs in my deshabille to find.....the lady decorator! The excuses and fabrications reasons for her no show and lack of communication on Monday were offered and grudgingly accepted and she made a lot of progress yesterday.

I spent the day cancelling three tradesmen who were coming to quote urgently, and reinstating the carpet order that I had postponed.

So dear ladies it's time to place your bets....will she come back this morning? Will she finish the jobs? Jeeves, I need a drop of gin to steady my nerves 😬

You sound more rested, Doodle. I hope I'm right.

Hello all. Been a busy day today lots of visitors for DH including his childhood school friend of nearly 70 years. Both our sons been over too and we had a lovely time reminiscing over photo albums.

Oh gosh, so many house disappointments. Ixion's house is obviously sinking, Grammaretto's unsuccessful house viewings (was it the ghost frightening the prospective buyers child?) and Mamissimo's house scaring off the decorator. Houses can be so uncooperative.

I'm so pleased Doodle that you can stay with Mr D. It's where you need to be and should be. I hope they've made you as comfortable as they can. You both are in my thoughts. XX

Doodle so pleased the Drs and nurses are now being so helpful but so sad for you both.
I know people here speak very highly of our local hospice and sure you will find the same.

We are waiting for a place in a hospice. DH in a lot of pain still but I am allowed to stay with him at night, the nurses on the ward and the doctor have gone the extra mile for us. We’ve been on the same ward for four weeks. I’ve forgotten what the outside world looks like. Hope you are all ok.x

A very frustrating day in Mamissimo Towers! Today was supposed to be the start of the mega decorate. We.ve cleaned the tops of the kitchen units, bought all the materials for the five rooms, erected the scaffolding tower, cleared all the services......

8.30.....no decorator....9.00..... no decorator.....9.20 I rang and it went straight to voice......9.30 I whatsapp'd.....it was read at 11 and a reply to say that "Sorry....this phone doesn't belong to X anymore""

so goodbye deposit payment and now we start again.....but with a few hundred pounds worth of materials already purchased. I've had to postpone the carpet order.....😞

My house viewing wasn't great. I didn't like the one I visited - no garden and gloomy, and they didn't take to mine. Actually the parents did but when their child realised what they were up to she nearly had a fit.

I hope dear Doodle that decisions have been made and things are not looking so bleak today.

I hope Grammaretto's house viewing went well, what did your visitors think of yours? Any mileage in either of them?

We watched the storms and driving rain last night, smugly relieved that we were snug and retired, so that I no longer had the burden of 'on call' when the weather was against me.

Until this morning, that is. A trip down to the basement freezer, in my hunter gatherer mode, saw copious flooding in one of the rooms at the front. Water to the extent that efforts to mop and sweep created a massive bow wave and the need for wellies...
I immediately thought of Grammaretto, whose water ingress had occurred top down, rather than down up .
Grrrrr.

I don't think I can add anything more to what has already been said Doodle. It's the start of a new week tomorrow, things should start to progress and the path should be much clearer. I'm still thinking of you Xx

I agree. It's so unsettling for you Doodle. Not knowing what's happening and not being able to do anything must be very hard for you.

Thank you all. I feel as though I can’t sit still or stick to anything for longer than a few seconds. I feel panic building up and have just been pacing about a lot. Can’t settle to write much I’m sorry my mind is all over the place. X

Thinking of you both this morning Doodles. Whether your Best Beloved has Hospice at Home (which I cannot praise too highly) or the local Hospice, make sure there’s a comfy bed for you to be with him. We are fortunate to have a garden room which, with a few (a lot of!!) things moved to the garage, gave space for the hospital bed and the comfy sofa and sleeping bag for me. I had the offer of overnight help, but didn’t need it. I am a light sleeper. The folding hospital bed complete with air mattress is amazing!

The way carers and nurses just appeared when needed amazed me. We had the same team so they quickly got to know us and what was where and the 24 hour Hub phone number worked too. Either way, home or hospice, the expertise is first class.

Either way, I hope Mr D escapes the hospital today if not sooner! XX

I know a hospice is not what you were hoping for to happen Doodle and I know I said home is best but Grammaretto could well be right, it could well be the right place. I hope it is. I really do🤞 xx

A friend of mine was a hospice nurse for years and felt it was a privilege to work there. They are not like hospitals.
It may seem like second choice Doodle but could be the right place?
I hope so. 🤞 ❤️ 🙏
