Yes another new thread. A gentle chat for old friends and new

It is amazing how things can change in life when friends do something which suddenly proves you are not alone and someone cares.

I am grateful beyond words - and I smell better as well !!

Grammaretto Sat 30-May-26 01:56:26

Wonderfully useful care instructions ixion I have never come across anything like that!

It's not the fixer upper, which is still on the market, but the small miner's cottage on the top of the hill with beautiful views and garden but no room for a table in the kitchen. not room for a table at all
DD called it pokey.
Several people have suggested renting something. I could look into that.
My friend in the north rents her farmhouse. It would never be for sale.

How are things Naughtyneine?

Doodle Fri 29-May-26 22:05:25

Jaxjacky thank you for popping in with your best buy advice ๐Ÿคฃ
Notspaghetti glad youโ€™re coming to terms with what was the best thing for lovely Luna. Miss them so much though.

Doodle Fri 29-May-26 22:02:42

Good news Grammaretto if you do get a buyer it would be better to move into something rental for a while rather than buy a place youโ€™re not really happy with. We did that once and regretted it after,
Love those washing instructions Ixion I do hope you get the correct bridesmaid for your garment when washing time comes. ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ

ixion Fri 29-May-26 19:41:28

That's really positive news about your returners, Grammaretto. Will you be around to answer any detailed questions, if you think they may be serious?

It's not your early fixer-upper that is promoting higher bids, is it?โ˜น๏ธ

Wishing you well.

A little on line retail therapy seemed the perfect antidote to a demanding exercise hour this morning (of which, 2 down, 24 to go).

I browsed and decided on a spivvy replacement glasses case for my new sunglasses.
I chose Kimono Cranes from a museum and gallery collection, to offer a hint of culture.

Here are the care instructions -

Care instructions
Clean with a much, wet bridesmaid and a dry, soft bridesmaid to avoid damaging the surface. Avoid cleaning with harder bridesmaid or chemistry. Let it dry at room temperature.

Great news that they want to come back!
๐Ÿก

Grammaretto Fri 29-May-26 17:54:45

I had my first viewers today. They stayed more than an hour and want to come back.

Meanwhile my offer for the little house I liked was too low. The top offer was 20% above the asking price.
It was nice but I wasn't in love with it.

My friend is coming to supper so maybe he'll have some ideas

How lovely to find frogs in your pond. NS

๐Ÿธ ๐Ÿธ ๐Ÿธ ๐Ÿธ ๐Ÿธ

Here is my Judas tree looking amazing

NotSpaghetti Fri 29-May-26 00:10:08

Thanks Grammaretto, I am fine. Just feeling sorry for myself earlier.
I am loads and loads better but still annoyingly not reliable stepping over things or moving quickly it seems.

I did see some rather smart healthy looking frogs (probably yearlings) at the edge of our little pond though which was really lovely and did cheer me up. I really think frogs are just so lovely.
๐Ÿธ๐Ÿธ

Naughtyneine, I hope you have found some peace today. I'm sure it was the right time.

I have woken up with the heat thinking it's morning but it's not even midnight. ๐Ÿ˜ก

Terrible all that tripping over NotSpaghetti I hope you are ok.

ixion Thu 28-May-26 20:22:58

Oooh, JJ. Thank you!

We haven't got those! Got all the rest, I think

On my way ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ

NotSpaghetti Thu 28-May-26 20:18:30

Thinking of you especially, Kaimoana - as it is so hot here.
I hope it's not as cold there as it is hot here and that you are able to keep well wrapped up

NotSpaghetti Thu 28-May-26 20:16:57

*SCOOP jaxjacky!

Jaxjacky Thu 28-May-26 20:12:01

Excuse me inteterrupting, ixion, white Magnums half price in Tesco with club card ๐Ÿ™‚.

NotSpaghetti Thu 28-May-26 20:09:40

Oh ixion - that could so easily be me wrestling with (say) Sundried tomatoes in oil, or olives or whatever!

I have several linen sleeveless tops and have had to have all of them on this week - oil, curry, yogurt, tomato sauce... not one made it safely till bedtime.

And, I have fallen over not once but twice today! Once falling into a hydrangea and damaging my shoulder., and once looking for the secateurs in the jungle loosely referred to as the garden!

The first time I was trying to see if my husband had managed to remove the poor old box tree/shrub (?) which was totally decimated this year, and tripped over a small potted plant I'd put there jyst an hour before

Left-overs for dinner... Feeling a bit deflated as had been to two lots of Yoga thos week where i was useless. I need to work on my left foot again I think... but Mr Spaghetti told me I need to work on not rushing about.
.*Love to you all.*

X-ed posts!
As NS says, it only takes one interested party to effect a sale - unless you can generate a bidding war with Music Man

NotSpaghetti Thu 28-May-26 19:55:08

Grammaretto, I'm sure your lovely home will find someone soon.

ixion Thu 28-May-26 19:54:10

Too hot to do much here these past few days: playing at being a domestic goddess, I have been pegging all my washing out on the line, only to find it is ready dried for me before I am ready for it.

Magnum lolly-stock rapidly dwindling- I read elsewhere that some Grans are treating themselves to the mini version๐Ÿ˜ฑ. Not here.

I have just taken receipt of a nifty device for opening a variety of jars, acknowledging sadly that strength in various areas is diminishing for the two of us and that we can't always wait for a visit from DS to open stiff lids.

Mr.I is mighty impressed with its range of 8 potential lid opener sizes (4 on each side), me not so taken with the device which looks like a pair of antennae with which one prises open the ring pulls on tins of tuna.

Having struggled with what must be the culinary equivalent of mud wrestling (the more oil that leaked out, the slipperier the tin became), finally the lid wrenched back, only to spray my beautiful new Seasalt linen tunic top with copious spots of sunflower oil.

Grr.

Grammaretto, do you sell by sealed bids in Scotland, or is it optional?

Grammaretto Thu 28-May-26 19:44:19

It has been hot today.
I was travelling home from the North of Scotland so sitting on a hot train for about 7 hours. The air conditioning wasn't working. I was sharing awful travel stories with a woman across the aisle. ๐Ÿ˜ก๐Ÿ˜ฒ

It's good to be home. I'll have an early night after watering the garden.

Not had any more interest in my house, sadly.

Doodle Thu 28-May-26 19:31:14

Another hot day. Art this morning pastels. I hate them . Such a mess and no clear outlines, Company was good though,
Knitting this afternoon and even the church was hot inside,
Home, pjs on fans on exhausted.
Grammaretto i Hope viewings are lining up for your house,

Doodle Wed 27-May-26 21:17:01

NN so sorry about poor Luna. Itโ€™s always hard to say good bye to a much loved pet,
kaimoana I wish there was some way we could all communicate better. We miss you being here with us all the time.
Grammaretto good luck with the house viewing. Hope you get some real interest soon,

NotSpaghetti Wed 27-May-26 07:09:00

You only need one Grammaretto
Fingers crossed.
Your photos are beautiful.

Grammaretto Wed 27-May-26 07:01:10

Sorry you are grieving for your beloved Luna. Naughtyneine

Whenever I visit my DD, her youngest DD likes to take me to visit Teddy's grave, their beloved corgi who died just before DH during lockdown. What a sad time that was when they saw noone outside their tiny bubble for 100 days.

I am enjoying my time with my friend in the North. Yesterday we took the wee ferry to Cromarty and although several places were closed we found the ruined Gaelic chapel, the pottery and ice cream. On the ferry back a dolphin leapt and dived in front of me!

It is very quiet here apart from birdsong.
She is an artist and a weaver who dyes and spins so I'm surrounded by beautiful things.

I heard that someone is coming to view the house at the weekend. Just one so far.

Kaimoana2 Wed 27-May-26 01:12:42

Oh,how very sad. Great love we benefit by but it leads to su h sorrow when are parted. Aroha mai

Kaimoana2 Wed 27-May-26 01:06:47

Naughtyneine
