David Cameron was being given a tour of a newly opened hospital. He saw the maternity unit, the orthopaedic unit and was then taken through a set of double doors.

He asked the first patient he saw how he was. The patient replied: Fair fa yer honest sonsie face

DC sort of smiled in a vague way and moved on. He asked the same question of the next patient he met, who replied "wee sleekit, cowering, timrous beasty.." (ok apologies to those who know how it should go)

DC turned to the official tasked with showing him round, and asked "Is this the psychiatric ward?"

The chap replied, "On no, it's the serious burns unit"

No Scottish connection at all, but I love haggis, and I'm rather fond of a large scotch and soda at the end of a working day. Do I qualify?

(I do realise that diluting the nectar is seen as a crime, but I can drink more that way!)

Can I come too - my husband proposed after a Burns' Night Supper. I made him do it again next day (propose!!) when he was sober!!

We need someone who will pipe in the haggis, anyone play the pipes ?But hang on if they are virtual pipes I could give it a go ( might need to put virtual fingers in virtual ears) .
Also who will "address to a Haggis"

DH has some whisky he hasn't opened I will smuggle it out under my coat.

or I should say, vaggi (sounds rather rude though!)

I'll provide the whisky ( single malt of course) I can always dilute mine with vodka to hide the taste.

I could bring some champit tatties and bashed neeps (mashed potatoes and turnip/swedes)

A virtual Burns night. Great idea. We can bring on the witches again. I can remember most of Tam o'Shanter, but you Sassenachs might have trouble understanding it. Can I bring a veggie haggis if that isn't a contradiction in terms? And a wee dram?

Everyone can come to virtual happenings. I'll cook the haggi but bring your own veggie versions as I wouldn't want there to be a fight between the wild haggi and the (what are veggie haggi called?) other ones on the way.

My late dh was born in Ardrossan. My brother lives north of Perth, my mother lived in bridge of earn until she died. I used to go to the burns ' society meetings and frolics when I lived in the midlands and have even given the response to the " to the lasses " toast!

Can us southern softies come.I think I might qualifty as my uncle married a lady from Scotland and my niece married a man who came from Scotland. She met him when he joined the SAS .
Oh and I have been on hoilday in Scotland I stayed in Grantown on Spey
