To be serious, i think some TV soaps are quite harmful. Grit your teeth and watch Kyle or similar. The people on the show seem determined to make their lives into high melodrama - echoing the emotional style of soap characters - "I can never forgive" etc etc "there is no way..." etc etc
Where in soaps is the bravery, dignity, maturity, common sense and tolerance that would help real people to better manage their relationships?
But of course reasonable behaviour does not make for entertaining TV. We also have an element of the press that plays this game, making up torrid tales of love and revenge amongst "celebs". This reinforces the idea that this is how adults behave.
Soops place of refuge and friends
De-cluttering, still at it, still no end

I had townee friends who were big Archers fans and were discussing Tony's problems with his silage clamp in great depth before finally turning to me and saying "actually what IS a silage clamp?"I loved the fact that they could get so involved in the programme while not understanding half of what they were talking about.
