Led Zeppelin came first with Whole Lotta Love (Top of the Pops theme) but mine would be Layla by Derek and the Dominoes, which was fifth.

What would you have chosen?

wishing well - FREE
badge - CREAM
showing my age here grin
was going to plump for the Who - won't get fooled again - but then realised it is a keyboard intro not a guitar riff - but such a musical hook to take us all back in time - love to hear the who music on the CSI programs (even if the programs are a very far-fetched!)

I would have thought that Voodo Child (Jimmy Hendrix) would have been on that list (though I'm probably misunderstanding 'riff').

Eagles - Hotel California

Roy Orbison - Pretty Woman

Status Quo - Down Down

There's so many aren't there. I particularly like:

School's Out - Alice Cooper
Purple Haze - Jimi Hendrix
Pictures of Matchstick Men - Status Quo

Oh Well, Fleetwood Mac
Seven Nation Army - White Stripes
and I would have had whole lotta love in 3rd

Mollie65 - love those two tracks, but not my favourite riffs !

Surely the best ever is Sunshine of Your Love - Cream? I've been saying for the last 45 years that I want it played at my funeral.

And what about Free with All Right Now?

You really got me - The Kinks

All these wonderful songs are now going through my head. I will put them on Youtube tomorrow and enjoy the memories of my youth - thanks for reminding me of them.

I am not sure if a Riff has to be played on a guitar, if not I always have tingles when I hear 'Superstition' by my very favourite Stevie Wonder.

At my funeral I wanted 'Gone too soon' by Michael Jackson, however I suspect others won't think it is too soon. grin
