BBC 2 tonight @ 21.00.

I can't wait - am almost beside myself with anticipation and excitement! grin

I saw the stage play, and Bring Up The Bodies, so expectations are high!

They made that remark about AB being flat chested but she seemed quite well endowed to me. I couldn't make out what she said for some of the time then I realised it was French!

Tegan I must start watching my Game of Thrones dvds gain. Never got to the end of the box set. I found the books easier to follow. You could go over a few pages again.

jinglbellsfrocks Wed 21-Jan-15 23:17:16

I had the sub-titles on just in case, but found I didn't need them. (Unusually for me) I thought it was very good. Bit disappointed they didn't start right at the beginning of the book, just had flashbacks. But I suppose they've got to fit it all in.

Might watch it again tomorrow - kept dozing off towards the end and having to rewind! Result of having fire and candles burning. hmm

NotTooOld Wed 21-Jan-15 23:16:23

Thank goodness for that, Tegan, I thought it was just me.

Tegan Wed 21-Jan-15 23:05:42

Not; I find that a lot of the time these days with programmes but I struggled to hear some of it also.

Tegan Wed 21-Jan-15 23:04:24

I was about to ask the same POGS [I haven't read the book either]. I need to rewatch it as the phone rang part way through, but I did find it a bit slow and I thought Anne Boleyn [I assume it was her] was lacking in charisma.

NotTooOld Wed 21-Jan-15 23:03:17

I think the books are better but then I usually do. I did enjoy it tonight but was it my imagination or did the actors sometimes mumble? My hearing is not of the best but I couldn't always make out what they were saying. Did anyone else have the same problem?

POGS Wed 21-Jan-15 22:49:31

I haven't read the book but I did watch it tonight.

I must admit to not being particularly hooked but I appreciate it is perhaps unfair to judge too quickly. I still see Henry 8th as Brody from Homeland confused

Can I ask those who have read the book , do you think the book is better from what you have viewed so far?

Tegan Wed 21-Jan-15 22:28:44

jings; I'm working my way through the box set. Series 4 is on dvd in February and series 5 on satellite tv in the spring. I'm loving it.

annodomini Wed 21-Jan-15 21:54:40

It is the seat of the Seymour family (I think) which is Henry's next port of call - as it were.

rubysong Wed 21-Jan-15 21:07:46

Sorry if this is a daft question but what was the significance of the title. I read the book, which I enjoyed (it was a bit long) but can't recall what or where Wolf Hall was.

NotTooOld Wed 21-Jan-15 21:00:58

It's just about to start. grin

jinglbellsfrocks Wed 21-Jan-15 20:59:14

Tegan are you watching Game of Thrones on DVD? There's not a new series started yet is there? confused

GillT57 Wed 21-Jan-15 20:54:51

I am very excited and looking forward to this. Reading the book at the moment and have already read Bring up the Bodies. I know it was the wrong way round but we all know what happens to Anne Boleyn and it doesn't spoil my enjoyment of all the intrigue and skulduggery of the Tudo court. Recording it to watch tomorrow with DH who is out and DD who has gone to bed tired. So tomorrow evening shall watch it with mug of mulled wine to get in the mood. .....

annodomini Wed 21-Jan-15 19:37:32

I'm not getting too excited: that way lies disappointment!

merlotgran Wed 21-Jan-15 19:20:52

Let's hope it doesn't disappoint. I've given up getting excited about BBC drama.

Tegan Wed 21-Jan-15 19:13:35

The S.O. tells me that there have been complaints about the fact that the characters 'have perfect teeth which they wouldn'tve had back then'. What will people find to complain about next? It will have to be good to lure me away from Game of Thrones though.

Greyduster Wed 21-Jan-15 19:04:48

I hope, as they say it will, that the series remains faithful to the excellent books. Hilary Mantell seems to be satisfied with it. I was not going to watch it tonight, as DH is out and it is being taped for him, but I don't think I'll be able to resist as I have looked forward to it so much. Large glass of red too, as I am not providing a taxi service this evening!

Oldgreymare Wed 21-Jan-15 18:50:07

Think I'll start the preparations now...... long soak in the bath, candles and lavendar oil; into warm fluffy PJs;settle back.
P.S. I loved both books too.

Riverwalk Wed 21-Jan-15 18:45:08

I can see you're getting over-excited Soutra grin

There was a radio interview with the woman who wrote the music to the series - it was all enough to make me swoon!

get a grip

Soutra Wed 21-Jan-15 18:40:45

III !

Soutra Wed 21-Jan-15 18:40:23

It is a novel though not a historical documentary so you have to allow an element of suspended disbelief, but after the fiasco of the Tudors, The BBC will have to prove their grasp of historical accuracy. We shall see- love Mark Rylance anyway, he can do no wrong for me, I loved his Richard Iii!

durhamjen Wed 21-Jan-15 18:35:37

Doesn't everyone mess with history? Lucy Worsley thought it wasn't completely accurate, but is still looking forward to watching it.

MrsPickle Wed 21-Jan-15 18:30:01

As long as they don't mumble...
Book was wonderful. They can't mess with history - can they?

durhamjen Wed 21-Jan-15 18:18:54

Your beer will have gone flat by the time it starts, Kiora, and if you start on the gin too early, you will have fallen asleep!
