[[ a very interesting essay by Australian, Russell Blackford, on what he sees as the loss of civility in political discussions. A key illustration of what he says, and one that I think we would do well to remember on Gransnet sometimes, is that someone with whom one violently disagrees might still be, say, 40% right.

Parliament is a classic example of this - speakers get louder and louder trying to be heard over the baying of the opposition from one side or another. I think they should refuse to speak louder and just carry on in their normal voice - it works with noisy children.
