I had the album for my birthday in 1976, the day after I gave birth to DS1. Years later I saw the Eagles in Birmingham. Great!

I think the 60s and 70s were absolutely the best times for music!

So many brilliant singers and groups in those days.
I'm probably a bit older than most of you, and I missed out on the 60s and 70s - too busy working and having a family.
I'm just catching up on it now.

Just listened to Layla and Song 2....agree about Bowie. Wish I'd been to see him when everyone I knew was going....

Much preferred Bowie to the Eagles.

one of the beauties of the internet is that I can now listen to whole albums from the past..Dan Fogelburg has a whole back catalogue that I can now listen to, but I think I'll listen to Hotel California while I clean the bathroom!

Not a big Eagles fan but that song is summer parties in the 70s and dancing!

The words are so cryptic, they sound like some of Bob Dylan's lyrics.

'you can never leave' ah what memories that brings back. Love The Eagles. DH has loaded his I pod with all our lovely music from 780s 80s and some modern stuff - London Grammar is a bit reminiscent of the period but very modern too.

I also love the song, I believe it was an allegorical comment on the state of American politics/ economy of the time.
But then it could have been written in a drug haze!

Released by the Eagles in the mid 70s, proclaimed as one of the most amazing guitar pieces ever, I have just read the lyrics and they don't seem to correspond to an actual event but to an drug induced state. Whatever, an amazing piece of music.
