Trying to remember a tune

I hope this doesn't upset those of you whose husband/wife has died.
Earlier in the week I kept thinking of a song, 'As long as I have you'. One of the lines is
'There might be heartbreak and pain, but I won't complain, as long as I have you.'
I've looked on youtube and there are a few different versions, but not the one I was thinking of.
I just want to recall the tune, which is very emotional.

The only one I know off hand is by Roger Daltrey from an album of the same name. He has such a distinctive voice I think you would know if it were him.

I've just looked up the Roger Daltrey one....the words are not the same as the OP describes. It's quite a rock song, in a way.

Thanks but no, it's not the Roger Daltrey one.

Dove Cameron?

Can you remember who recorded it?
It's not I'll get by, is it? Loads of artists have recorded this song, Billie Holliday and others.

Is it "I want to know what love is" by Foreigner?

Fennel Sat 15-Dec-18 21:25:31

You've got it, MiniMoon grin!
I'll get by. Thanks to all.

I've ben listening to some more today, and think the Inkspots do it best. The tenor has a lovely voice, probably you youngsters never heard of them.
It's a difficult tune to sing.

As soon as I read your post Fennel I started singing it. Nice to hear the Inkspots again - he does have a lovely voice, doesn't he? And such a contrast in tone when he starts talking - I could listen to him forever smile

Did you watch the following YouTube with them joking about on 'If I didn't care"? It's very funny.

I remember the Inkspots. I was brought up listening to them and Tommy Dorsey's " Song of India ".

Yes I watched If I didn't Care smile
It's wonderful to be ably to see all these oldies from so long ago.I found one of George Gershwin playing I Got Rhythm - from 1931!
