This programme annoys me because of the massive discounts the dealers give the competitors. Many of them wouldn’t make any profit at auction if they only got the usual 10 %.

I think most TV’s have an off option these days for whatever this is.

I enjoy the programme for all the other antiques people on it, the shops, except the narrator.

Well I really enjoy both Antiques Road trip and Bargain Hunt, bit of light relief, albeit some guests and some presenters are mildly irritating.

However, by far and away the most fun is Antiques Roadshow, especially when someone comes with a supposed family heirloom which the person clearly thinks will be worth thousands, and is informed it’s worth about ten bob!

I like Antiques Road trip because it sometimes features shops that I go to. And I like Izzy who’s on it sometimes. Never been keen on Bargain Hunt. We once had to furnish a house with very little money and bought a few things at an auction and it was really exciting. This is one of them: it was exactly what we were looking for and we were so worried that we wouldn’t get it.

Me too. He seems a really nice chap who has had a terrible time in his private life fairly recently.

It's part of the show from the wonderful Tim Wonnocott, very knowledgeable, very witty, maybe you should stick with bargain hunt and Danny, your cup of tea

Auctioneers are a bit flamboyant it all part of the act to get the bidders going and get the best price for the seller who after all pay the commission that pays their wages

I just wish contestants say they are happy to sell providing the new owner truly appreciates the item. In truth they just want the money and to assuage their conscience for selling the family jewels

I am in the opposite situation! I have just discovered that my late OH's violin bow could be worth as much as £16k !!! I am sure he did not know - he used it as a student and lugged it back and forth to school! Goodness knows where it came from. There is a small split on the frog which I need to get repaired so I do not think it will make top price but it just looks like a stick to me! - I am not a string player.

I expect we'd get short shrift if we tried it.

However, something is only worth as much as someone is prepared to pay for it!

If you can sit through tedious auctions you can get real bargains. I’ve done it many times.
Bargain Hunt is totally backwards. That’s why they often lose money. The contestants should buy at auction and sell at a market. That’s how to make money.
