I got mine last year and have been pleased with it. It is good for keeping up basic fitness, balance and strength, especially in winter.

The Gadget Show matched Wii Fit against a £4000 exercise machine. The fitness levels of two presenters were measured and then for 6 weeks each followed either the state of the art machine or Wii Fit exercise programme. Then their fitness was measured again. The £4000 machine came out better....but only just. The Wii Fit was better for cardi-vascular improvement and stamina.

Hi everyone I am new to this forum having just joined about a week ago. My Wii comes out when the grand kids are around as hubby isn't too keen. I especially like the music games as its a laugh looking back at the videos made on the Wii when we 'try' to play musical tunes, but mainly its the handbell game that defeats me - I just can't get those colours to match up when its my turn to ring my bells! Anyone else have a similar problem with any particular game?

I'm afraid that mine was a one minute wonder Ariadne, used it several times when it was new but my self discipline has faltered and it sits unused now. I really ought to start again - help someone.....

I want one so much! When I was given my iPad (which is absolutely the best present ever) I thought it might be a Wii. DH thinks it will be like the exercise bike I once had, a one minute wonder. Huh!

If you like dancing, the "Just Dance" games are good fun and not too difficult. Guaranteed to warm you up on a cold day and you can do as much or as little as you like!

We bought it in the local hypermarket this week! Not opening it until Christmas though....

I do have a Wii board and use it about four times a week. It's great fun and I do feel that my general level of fitness has improved - though I still don't look like Helen Mirren!

I'd quite like a wi but my husband is idealogically opposed to them. yeah i dont know what he means either!

Yes, I use Wii but the balance board doesn't come out often - yoga, step-ups, racing and the like aren't really my thing. I do play tennis and golf (Wii Sports dvd) a lot on it, and spend nearly an hour several times a week prancing about my sitting room and getting out of breath. When my grandson visits, we play brain games and he loves difficult games like Ratatouille, which I find impossible. Well worth the money, especially for families to share. I found I understood the rules of golf better after playing on the Wii, so am more interested when the Open is on TV now.

My husband wanted to get me one for xmas for so I could excercise in the warm during the Winter but I thought the same thing , a 5 minute wonder.. be nice to know if anyone finds it useful..

Should I ask Father Christmas for a Wii console and balance board? I enjoy using it when I am staying with DD, but do other Gransnetters use it regularly or is it a five minute wonder?
