I lost 2lbs last week, and I think all credit is due to Nordic Walking
That takes me down into a lower stones category, which is always a lovely milestone!

Good morning! Frost on the grass and sun screen lotion back in the cupboard.
Glass is off on her travels but I'm sure she'll have all the satellites lined up so that she can still keep an eye on us!
Easter soon.....the year's whizzing by isn't it? Let's all make a big effort during the week, then we can ease off a little over the Bank Holiday.
Good luck everyone!
I lost 2lbs last week, and I think all credit is due to Nordic Walking
That takes me down into a lower stones category, which is always a lovely milestone!
Nice to meet you fancyface, there will always be support and encouragement on this thread
Returning to the gym will be a big help in supporting your diet adjustments. We're always interested to hear about the types of food and meal changes that are being made and I'm sure you'll get lots of ideas from other people.
We're all familiar with the 'back to square 1' syndrome! By posting on this thread you've taken the huge step of acknowledging 'out loud' what you want and need to do. I've found this to be invaluable in stepping off the 'back to square 1' merry-go-round!
Chocolates. Mmmm. Well, there really isn't any alternative but to stop eating them. I know that you know that
but it's easier said than done isn't it?
Good luck with this week then, and if you do 'lose your way' temporarily, don't give up, we've all been there and will support you to get back on track again.
Hello,
Found reading all of your comments extremely encouraging.
One of my friends said she would describe myself as being 'nicely' rounded. This mean I am 'fat' and not liking it at all, especially as most of the 'fat' is located on my legs and hips. Have tried several diets but forget and over eat ,especially when stress.
I am 19 stone and moving to West Africa later in the year, and hope to get married there, but I also want to feel healthy so I am desperate to loose at least 3 st by November.
I am returning to the gym,at least x3 per week and also trying to reduce my intake, but i crave chocs, especially 'snickers'. I have changed several things in my diet but along the way of my good intentions i loose my way and then I am back to square 1.
I am very pleased to have found you and am now seeking your help ,support, words of encouragement etc. to achieve this.
Thanks
I have a packet of dates and some fresh grapes to nibble on if I feel the need. The dates will probably last me a week because I'm not really wildly keen, but it's handy to have something sweet that's virtually fat free and full of vitamins and minerals.
Sewsilver, now that you are well again you will be able to focus. We'll all be here to support you
It does help Carol
It felt as though you were all in my kitchen shaking your heads and tutting!
What a waste well done Notso - this strategy does help, doesn't it?
Ok. Evening grazing confession time. I've just been to the fridge, broken off a piece of cheddar and started to chew. Then I remembered Sbagrans nibble mission and spat it out.
Thank you!
Well done those who have lost . I am now back at the weight I was when first ill. Up a bit, down a bit, back up. Clothes definitely snug. Need to focus and lose half a stone.
sbagran your nibble-mission idea is a stroke of genius! Evenings are a vulnerable time for opening fridge and cupboard doors in search of something to eat. To come here and stay strong by owning up, will help quite a few of us. Having an occasional pause in weight movement happens all the time to me! Well done you, for being so determined to carry on.
jeni the 10lbs you want to lose is very acheivable! When glass is back later this week, I'm sure she'll have some good ideas to help you. In the meantime. just remember that you lost weight last week and you can build upon that. You'll be back in those summer skirts before you know it!
GoldenGran, enjoy your family dinner tomorrow, but step away from the wayside!
green you have already done so well! Staying the same is frustrating, but it will change and you'll soon register a loss. We're all behind you.
GillieB, nice to see you again and great news about your 4 pounds loss! You're very welcome to join us again, I'm sure you'll recognise most of us.
Thank you, Carol. I have peeped in from time to time, just never got round to writing anything.
Welcome back GillieB. Nice to have you around again
Some of you may remember me, I joined Gransnet on the first day and was an avid follower of the diet threads as I was dieting for my son's wedding last August. Afterwards we went on holiday; came back to looking after my grandson almost full time as my daughter had child care issues - and then the wretched laptop started playing up - anyway, here I am again.
I started dieting once more on 12th March and am doing quite well so far - probably lost four pounds, I think. The good weather last week was a big bonus as I have started going out on my bike - and exercise certainly helps me to lose weight. May I join in again, please?
Everyone is doing so well!
(I've stayed the same -
!)
Well done and good luck, I am posting mine on Wednesday as usual, and I have high hopes! I have just got to get through a family dinner tomorrow night without falling by the wayside.
10lbs would be perfect! I'd be back to my usual weight.
Hi losers! Well done everyone - I have stayed the same which is a bit of a drag as I thought I had left the plateau era behind. However I am not giving up. I was hoping to lose a pound a week so I will just have to lose two this week won't I !!! Good luck to everyone else and am so glad carol that the nibble-mission suggestion seems to have worked?
There's time to make a difference before summer jeni....losing 7 to 10 pounds by the end of June woud be a realistic target. Would that help with your skirts?
I would be grateful if I could get into my old summer skirts
gracesmum that should have read 'The best sort of surprise!'
Gremlins in my keyboard
Isn't in great ga when you get into a smaller dress size? Makes all the effort worthwhile, and helps with the determination to 'stick to it' Well done! Enjoy your Easter break.....your weighing scales wont take up too much room in your luggage.
Well done with dropping a pound gracesmum, the surprise!
Dropped a pound which is a nice surprise. Possibly not unconnected with skipping the odd meal which is not the best way, but still
Well done you "losers"!!!
I'm really pleased with myself as I truly haven't cheated AT ALL since starting my diet on Shrove Tuesday. I've lost pounds and am now into a smaller dress size and still determined to stick to it. We're going away for Easter and as we're provided with half-board I shall need to be hugely self-disciplined, but there will be a lot of walking to do so I hope to balance any extra intake with exercise. I'm even thinking of taking my weighing scales with me!
I've just got back from Tai Chi.....so feeling all calm and serene.
susie you have done so well, and only half a stone to go! I think still 'feeling big' is something you will gradually shake off as you become more and more used to the new, slimmer you!
jeni well done you! You've stuck with it and it's finally coming off. Glass said it would. Keep going!
Carol you must be so chuffed, 2lbs off is wonderful! The fridge-cruising club is such a good idea and you've used it to great effect!
I've lost 2 lbs and really pleased with myself - thanks to sbagran for the great suggestion about a nightly check-in for we fridge-cruisers!
