Notso What a waste! grin

Notsogrand Tue 21-Aug-12 13:27:06

I washed the sugar off first Ella. (Halo emoticon)

I wont even mention the 4 x 50p bags of sugared cranberries. blush

AlisonMA Tue 21-Aug-12 13:24:13

I bought loads of stuff too but mine included chocolate covered brazil nuts! [bad girl emoticon] I haven't eaten them though. Wel, not yet.

Ella46 Tue 21-Aug-12 13:21:02

Notso I did the same at Julian Graves! The ginger is easy to just take the edge off the sweet cravings and I found I couldn't eat much as it burns your mouth! (Why isn't all food like that??)
Maybe I'm to blame? I might have put it on this thread. blush

I'm going to check my ups & downs for this year GrannyK...just out of interest.
If frustration burned calories I'd be a shadow! Dishwasher packed in last Friday, this Thursday before it can be fixed. Phone line went down yesterday morning, still no sign of it being repaired. Broadband keeps going on and off (typing furiously while I can!) and now Sky's gone down and there's no satellite signal! Have we been invaded from outer space?
Apart from eating 3 tiny little chunks of chrytalised ginger, I'm being good on the food front. (Loads of the ginger stuff left though. Was 50p a bag when Julian Graves shut down. Why did I buy it?)

I so agree with you notso about the yoyo effect .

I have actually lost a bit ( a fraction of a lb weighed in Kilos ) which is the first time for weeks - hallelujah !
This prompted me to look at the statistics of my weight chart this year so far. I have put on weight 14 times, lost eight 13 times and stayed the same 6 times. No wonder I find the whole thng dispiriting at the moment

Still the weight loss this week came about because of furiously active gardening in the recent fine weather, not to mention watering both neighbours' gardens too while they were away. If the rain stays off this week too ( ha ha !) I might add to the " lost weight" weeks again next time . Fingers crossed.

Yoga That is brilliant, how long did it take and where did you start? Please give hope to us all. smile

glassortwo Mon 20-Aug-12 22:09:14

Great yoga woo hoo, well done! Will you let us know how you get on with the Horizon fasting plan. I would send those scales back you certainly need the upgraded shower/loo cleaning model. wink

yogagran Mon 20-Aug-12 22:01:42

Now just one pound under my target weight, so 9.13 - "woo hoo" as my DD would say. My DH wants start the Alternate Day fasting diet that was on Horizon recently. (Mentioned in another thread). But instead of alternate days he wants to do the same as Michael Mosley (if I've got the name right) and do two days out of seven. He reckons that he could do that so I will probably have to join him to give him moral support. He needs to loose several stone so it's going to be tough for him.
notso I really hope you have a better week this week and stay focused, let us know how you get on

BTW - we have just ordered a new pair of scales (why are scales "a pair" when there's only one?) from Amazon so I'll probably be heavier when I weigh myself on them. They're all dancing - all singing ones that measure your BMI, BRM (whatever that is) and do everything except clean the shower for you

Well done sook put a lock on your cupboards wink

Sook Mon 20-Aug-12 21:19:38

1lb this week so quite pleased with that. But can't be trusted with any goodies that might be lurking in the cupboards. Happy birthdaysba and good luck everyone for next week.

glassortwo Mon 20-Aug-12 20:52:26

sad I stayed the same this week.

notso It goes on too easy, but it over and done with. We sometimes have to loose the plot to appreciate how quickly it can all go to awry and it helps to focus our minds. You will be fine I have every faith in you.

Well done susie thats the good thing about SW you can be flexible.

alison not far to go to your first target, enjoy you gym session.

sba Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday to you Happy Birthday dear sba Happy Birthday to you. Fantastic loosing and celebrating, Its just a case of shuffling things around to stay within your boundaries. flowers wine

Thanks for the encouragement ladies!

I have tried MFP sbagran and found it very helpful. A couple of weeks ago I stopped using it...don't know why, probably because I was having a few 'treats' and didn't want to record them!!!

Plus there have been visitors & other holiday-type stuff which meant I've missed Tai Chi & Nordic Walking for a couple of weeks., so less exercise. Then last week I was really stupid and ate mad things. Hence the 3lbs gain. (Isn't it easy to put it ON?)

So back on the wagon today, MFP filled in - check! Tai Chi this morning - check! Sensible breakfast & lunch - check! Not eaten any biscuits, cake, chocolate, golden syrup, crusty bread & thick butter, chunks of stilton, Doritos silly things so far today - check!

Things can only get better. smile

Sbagran Mon 20-Aug-12 11:47:04

Oh notso I do feel for you as it is so easy to think "Oh whatsit" and jump off the wagon. flowers and a huge (((hug)))
I was really frustrated as like you and so many others I was trying so hard, eating sensibly, going to the gym etc yet staying around the 163/164lbs regardless of whether I sinned or not!
Have you tried My Fitness Pal? It has made a real difference to me as now I enter what I plan to have and if it shows that I will exceed my allowance I can substitute one thing with another. Something silly like taking out the baked beans and substituting them with a fresh tomato kept me under one day.

It was my birthday last week (Happy birthday to me, Happy birthday to me, etc etc etc grin) and we went out for a bog standard lunch at a local hostelry. There was an offer of a main course and a sweet for £4.95. I had the 4oz steak with jacket potato (not chips!) tomato and onions and sinned big time with treacle sponge and custard for pudding! I really enjoyed it and when I got home I worked out what I could nibble on over the rest of the day without going over my limit (well perhaps just a little blush) but it seems that if you hit just below the target most days it doesn't hurt too much if you go over on odd occasions?

Don't go too far under though, that was one of my problems - not eating enough! Aim for what MFP says you NEED. Once you get the hang of it, it is a great focus. I plan ahead to allow myself my Options hot chocolate and one choc digestive biscuit most evenings to give me something to look forward to and that helps.

I weighed yesterday as usual and have lost again - just under 2lbs gone in spite of my birthday - I am now 160.4lbs! I have now lost nearly 4lbs in three weeks - slow but sure and next week I should be in the 150's !!!! My target is 10 and a half stone - so 147lbs, but I don't think of the 140's - just aim to 'lose' and it should creep down and more importantly stay down.

Good luck to everyone else this week - some of us have been encouraging Freddie to join us - keep your eyes open folks!

AlisonMA Mon 20-Aug-12 11:12:12

susie I have put my target at something achievable (single figures) and the next one will be to get my BMI down to normal, which is not so far away. How do you set your targets?

AlisonMA Mon 20-Aug-12 11:05:11

Notso It is just so hard once you have 'fallen' to get back on. Best of luck.

I have lost 1.4lbs and it would have been more if I hadn't partied on Saturday. I was squiffy on just one glass of wine, shows what abstention does for you! 0.8lbs and I will have reached my first goal.

Going to a gym later to discuss whether to join their 6 week course for a big push before I go away again. Taking DH with me in the hope he will join too but he is already talking about all the bits which hurt!

susiecb Mon 20-Aug-12 11:02:26

Still one and half pounds under my target and really considering revising it down by 5lbs when I come back from my Sept holiday. I am largely keeping to the SW plan with one or two extras like a choc ice yesterday in the park - it was very hot.

Notsogrand Mon 20-Aug-12 11:00:01

I've have completely fallen off the wagon this week and put on 3lbs! I'm ashamed of myself. angry Not just about this week, but about the fact that I've been bobbing up and down within the same few pounds range since April. Need to tie a piece of string around my neck and change my name to YoYo!!!
I can't even bear to confess to the rubbish I've been eating this week. No excuses, I've just been behaving like a fat person again. angry angry
I....will....stop.....eating....rubbish.
I'm going to post on here each day to help get back on track.
So far today I've not eaten anything stupid, but it's only 11am! hmm

glassortwo Sun 19-Aug-12 22:44:36

Well I hope you have all had a good week, I have been out for a late Sunday Lunch after spending the day at the house strimming all the pathways which have all become overgrown in the two weeks since we were up there, so I feel very full and dont think I will be able to eat for rest of the week (someone remind me of that please).

Another quiet week from you all...... could be one of two things you have been very good you have sailed through the week or you have well and truely fallen off the wagon. wink
