Well I hope you have all had a good week, I have been out for a late Sunday Lunch after spending the day at the house strimming all the pathways which have all become overgrown in the two weeks since we were up there, so I feel very full and dont think I will be able to eat for rest of the week (someone remind me of that please).

Another quiet week from you all...... could be one of two things you have been very good you have sailed through the week or you have well and truely fallen off the wagon. wink

Notsogrand Sat 25-Aug-12 18:43:43

I'll start a thread to see who's interested and we can take it from there.

yogagran Sat 25-Aug-12 18:41:47

What we need is a volunteer or conscript to organise something..!!

I live in the South East.

yogagran Sat 25-Aug-12 18:33:06

Ariadne - I said South EAST - not Devon, sorry but Devon is a little too far for lunch for me grin

Notsogrand Sat 25-Aug-12 18:30:48

I'd love to join in with a South East meet up. smile

Ariadne Sat 25-Aug-12 18:15:10

Yes! But removal date is, nominally, 20th September...will do if I can.

Devon/ round there, anyone?

yogagran Sat 25-Aug-12 18:08:01

There's no "meet up" for the South East planned yet.....
Anyone interested?

AlisonMA Sat 25-Aug-12 15:40:47

I'll bet you did Yoga!

With all these meet ups perhaps we should have a fatties one after Christmas when we are all at our worst! [cake]wine

yogagran Sat 25-Aug-12 14:56:20

Confession time for me too sad, I really don't know why, but I stopped at coffee shop on my way to having my hair cut yesterday (I was half an hour too early for appointment) and I had a cappuccino AND a slice of carrot cake. The lady at the next table did remark that I seemed to be enjoying it!

AlisonMA Fri 24-Aug-12 17:34:16

Bez I share your excuse grin DH does all the cooking these days!

AlisonMA Fri 24-Aug-12 17:33:18

No sba I don't weigh every day but did today to see what the damage from yesterday was and I didn't like it! I have done it daily in the past and haven't found huge changes though.

My problem is that my 'normal' diet is about 1000 calories a day so to lose weight I have to eat even less. I can be just so good at home but when I go out to dinner and have a glass of wine all virtue goes out the window and I don't care - that is until the next morning!

I have found MFP very useful as a means of calculating but the only surprise is that fruit is not as bad as I thought.

Notsogrand Fri 24-Aug-12 17:19:47

Reverand mother is away now Sbagran, having a Grand Designs week on their new house. I'm sure she'll be able to an eye on us from a distance though! grin I love your description of sauages on sticks, garlic bread and bakewell tart as 'little things' !!! Daren't ask what the etc was!!

MFP still seems to be helpful for lots of us. Having ignored it last week and gained weight, I'm back to filling it in each day. I feel a bit more in control now.

Salmon dish sounds good jeni smile

Delicious runner beans are finally cropping well and now feature in every evening meal. (I did try to make wine from them one year as I had so many, but the result was gross)

Bez Fri 24-Aug-12 16:48:15

I haven't weighed in now for a couple of weeks - am still trying but we are in a mess in France with work being done on house and in a mess in Wales with packing up to move being the main activity- nothing where it should be. Added to which the broken right arm means I have to eat what is prepared for me (well that is the excuse).
Will get back on board - and the scales - as soon as able.
Lovely to see people doing well, long may it continue.

jeni Fri 24-Aug-12 16:29:20

I've made up a recipe for this pm with wild salmon fillet flaked
A teaspoon of capers
5olives sliced
3 baby tomatoe quartered
A teaspoonful of salad dressing

And my fitness pal tells me I still have 400cals to go, even after lunch of an egg white Parmesan omelette and the 2 large glasses of wine I'm allowing myself nightly!

I won't want any more to eat!
I can't believe I'm eating so much and losing weight.
13 3 this am. Down from 13 41/2 on mon that's a pound and a half in less than a week!

Sbagran Fri 24-Aug-12 14:04:00

Thanks Alison - do you weigh every day? If so you are probably getting a false result. I always 'officially' weigh on Sunday morning after my shower and before even a sip of tea! I have 'looked' every morning some weeks and like you have been shown as heavier but by the time the weekly date pops up it seems to settle so don't take too much notice of a daily weigh smile
You probably didn't take in too many calories before your evening out so your little bit of indulgence wouldn't necessarily take you over the limit. That is what I like about MFP -you can 'reserve' a few calories for a treat in the evening and have something to look forward to!
Glad you enjoyed your evening out. We had a farewell lunch for my Boss yesterday and the Mediterranean Chicken was delicious. You can eat well and not exceed MFP targets but you need to try and consume the calories it says you NEED. I believe that's where I was going wrong before MFP came into my life!
Good luck smile

AlisonMA Fri 24-Aug-12 10:45:38

sba you are not alone! We went out to dinner last night with DS2 & DiL2 and I had a glass of wine and ate bad things...................... We did walk there and back though. Today I put it all on MFP and didn't actually go over my calorie count so why was I 0.6lbs heavier today!

Sbagran Fri 24-Aug-12 09:30:35

Thank you everyone for your good wishes - this is confession time - we had the older two GC for a sleepover Tues night and had picnic buffet supper with all the things I shouldn't have had blush 'Little' things like sausages on sticks, garlic bread, bakewell tarts etc. I am afraid I sinned reverend mother sad
On the bright side I have been better since and have kept my calorie count on MFP just below the daily number so I am hoping by weigh-in time it will have evened out.
Please can I be forgiven reverend mother glass smile ?

GrannyHaggis Wed 22-Aug-12 14:16:58

Sorry I'm late..still recovering from GS and dog minding! Another 1.5lbs off this week! Dear Daughter offered me the dog until I get to my ideal weight...Ha!Ha!
Off out in garden to move large pile of unwanted rubbish, but have already had a brisk 5 mile walk this morning. 2 miles in 24 minutes, the rest not quite so fast!

GrannyK Wed 22-Aug-12 14:11:28

Why has it taken me this long to discover "my fitness pal". It's brilliant !
You have all been talking about it for ages , but I just viewed it as yet another thing to spend time online doing- and goodness knows, I have enough excuse for that already.

However- went in and signed up yesterday and it is fabulously simple and really focuses the mind .

Feeling extremely positive grin

AlisonMA Wed 22-Aug-12 12:12:17

Wish I was as good as you yoga but I'm not which is why I need to lose weight! I am still about 1/2 stone heavier than I was this time last year and am trying to have a big push before we go away in October for a 'fly&flop' holiday which will be spent in bathing clothes!

yogagran Wed 22-Aug-12 11:56:47

Alison - Sorry I ignored your most recent post - I'm sure you'll manage the self control. Just try saying "No thank you" to dessert, I find if I say it straight away without giving the answer any thought, the "no" is out before I have time to think about it!

yogagran Wed 22-Aug-12 11:53:35

Thanks Alison - I started way back last October at 10st.10lb - very much up and down over the months but finally got my act together (I think!)
I use an app on my tablet called Libra which is a graph to show, hopefully, the weight loss, but looking at mine now it's a very pretty jagged shape! The app needs a bit of tweaking to get it how you want but does give a clear picture of where you are
Seriously considering lowering my target weight now that DH has started on the Alternate Day diet thing. I'm finding it quite easy at the moment. Doing a "fasting day" twice in every seven. It's not actually completely fasting as you have 500 calories spread throughout the day and because you can eat reasonably normally on the other days I don't feel hard done by

AlisonMA Wed 22-Aug-12 11:14:31

I need some support today and tomorrow as DS2 and DiL2 are coming to stay. Dinner tonight will be OK but pudding is chocolate roulade! Tomorrow we are going out for dinner! I need some/lots of self control! hmm

glassortwo Tue 21-Aug-12 20:30:41

grannyK it all helps smile

susiecb Tue 21-Aug-12 19:40:33

Alison I set the targets in small achiveable steps not related to pounds lost or weigho t on the scales. So last Septmber I said I want to wear a little black dress for Xmas I think one stone would do that. It did and it didnt put me under pressure. Then I did Easter in the same way - another stone another frock and then so on and so on throughout the summer.g a pair of jeans size ?? or a family party. In other words break it up into realsitic chunks. I use an NLP approach with something called the motivation triangle. Draw a triangle on a piece of paper with your ultimate or your intermediate goal at the top then draw so mnay lines along the triangle with interim targets then focus on each stage.
