Exercise reduces appetite!

Oh they're absolutely right as far as I'm concerned. I 'ran' to meet my GD off the school bus yesterday and nearly brought on a heart attack with my efforts to get there in time. There was no way I could eat afternoon tea after that. It took me long enough to get my breath back! Hopefully I'm a few ounces lighter as a result!!!

You are quite right, of couse - what suits me will not necessarily suit other people. Perhaps my smaller appetite is down to my great age! I don't have many temptations to snack as I don't like bisuits, cakes, crisps, sweets, pies, etc. and of course there are no takeways around here. It is much easier to choose what you want to eat when you live alone.

We are such complex characters and I personally think that anything related to health and diet, affects us all in different ways. My make up is going to be quite different from somebody else's and this is going to make our reactions to various things different.
I also read this in my newspaper Greatnan this morning and I have to say that on my way home after a Zumba session I'm itching to go into the cake shop despite having a large dish of porridge for breakfast!!
I read the Telegraph and I don't think one day goes by without one claim or another. Some of them are really ridiculous and I do wonder who pays the vast sums which go into some of this senseless research. You know the sort of thing - 'If you eat a kilo of broccoli a week it will reduce you chances of catching a cold'!!

I can only speak for myself. I have just got back from a very strenuous, steep, three and a half hour walk. I have had a bowl of chicken broth for lunch and I am quite full. I had a bowl of porridge for breakfast, with raisins and bottled cherries. I will have a banana and a yogurt later, and a large, mixed salad for dinner followed by some fruit. I have lost two stones since I began walking and I rarely feel hungry.

Jean I got bored half way through the what to eat when bit! I've just come back from the gym, hung the washing and sat down with a bowl of salad. I think it must have an effect on my appetite as it does remind me that I am trying to get fitter and slimmer. I used to walk a lot and do the gardening and these had no effect at all but now I am doing a really hard workout for an hour and a half I am finding a big difference. I use myfitnesspal.com but don't add the exercise to it as it makes you feel you should eat more!

It's a bit more complicated than that

Depends on type and frequency of exercise and also the sort of food you eat (high or low glycaemic index etc.)
And 'women are hard-wired to maintain their body weight for pregnancy and lactation'.
No kidding!

It bloomin' well doesn't! Well, it might do while you're actually doing it, and perhaps for an hour or two afterwards. But later on - you wait!!!

That's the trouble with exercise. Self defeating! hmm

Researchers at Brigham University have found that 45 minutes of vigorous exercise in the morning actually reduces appetite. This has certainly proved true for me - I eat less since I started walking. This is the exact opposite of what we have always been told.
