Jodi Sun 09-Dec-12 22:22:01

Hey Prof, what are you doing on this thread? You coming to join us?

glassortwo Sun 09-Dec-12 18:52:49

We did have a break last year notso so how do you all feel about last weigh in 17th, unless for those of you (if you want to) that get weighed on a Sunday/Monday and you could still have the 24th?

Then we could kick off again on January 7th if you want to carry on. Let me know what you all think.

Seriously though worlie there is no secret to losing weight, just eat less and, if you can, move more. The problem is staying motivated.

There are hundreds of different ideas out there on how to stay on course you just have to find one that works for you. Sbagran finds My Fitness Pad works for her, someone else does intermittent fasting, others go to Slimming World, etc.

They all work if you STICK WITH IT.

I find just saying 'no' to silly, useless extras works for me.

Good luck smile

Jodi Sun 09-Dec-12 15:17:30

Say 'no'

worlie Sun 09-Dec-12 15:05:57

would like to know the secret you all have for losing weight, PLEASE SOMEBODY TELL ME

jeni Sun 09-Dec-12 15:00:47

I'm not going to spend money on relaxing hot stones massages and facials. Instead I'm going to employ the very dishy (but very expensive ) personal trainer on the boat to try to keep the weight gain to minimum!

Sbagran smile

When Glass is back for next week's thread, maybe she'll let us know if we'll get a couple of weeks off from weighing over Christmas & New Year? Did we do that last year?

Sbagran Sun 09-Dec-12 11:39:09

Isthis and Butty are you using My Fitness Pal?
If so, you could actually plan your calorie intake to include an occasional glass of wine!
I know it is difficult and I really didn't think I could restrict myself to four squares of dark chocolate BUT I HAVE!
Somehow MFP gives you that incentive to keep within your allowance! That was my problem with dieting - was really determined but then if I gave into an urge for some chocolate my brain convinced me that I may have well have the lot as the damage was done. Now my brain says I can have some WITHOUT causing damage! Worth a go?
Great news Glass re your Mum flowers for all of you.
Sneak preview - gained 2lbs this morning which isn't tooooooooo bad considering 2 x Christmas meals and a fish 'n' chip supper this week. Will report in properly tomorrow in the new week's thread blush so don't add them to this week as well!!! grin

Butty Sun 09-Dec-12 11:08:23

Oh glass - I've only just realised your Mum has been poorly. So sorry to hear that and hope now she's home again, is well on the road to recovery.
I thought I hadn't seen you around much, so now I know. sunshine + flowers for your Mum!

Notsogrand Sun 09-Dec-12 10:21:26

I've had almost 2 weeks of no wine now isthis, I didn't realise that was humanly possible grin
You've made a great start with 4 days of no cake, wine or biscuits and you seem really determined to reverse your weight gain...good for you! Enjoy your swims next week smile

isthisallthereis Sun 09-Dec-12 09:56:06

Not sure what happened to that [fbiscuit].

isthisallthereis Sun 09-Dec-12 09:55:02

Am finding this thread very supportive And Great Fun! wink Four days now of no wine, no cake and especially no biscuits [fbiscuit]. Plus a little exercise each morning with regular swims starting next week. I've been gaining week on week for much of the past two months and I must reverse that!! angry

Glad your Mum is back home Glass flowers

glassortwo Sat 08-Dec-12 22:07:02

sba thank you my Mum came home yesterday afternoon, and all is fine until she goes back for the camera in about 8 weeks when everything has settled down to see what the problem has been, but the infection is sorted for the time being... hopefully its nothing sinister. hmm

Sbagran Sat 08-Dec-12 22:01:56

Wasn't your maths Notso it was my scales! I always weigh on Sunday mornings and a few weeks ago I weighed something like 150/151lbs.
The following Sunday the scales showed 154lbs when I had been really good all week both diet and exercise-wise so I was not a happy bunny.
The crazy thing was that the NEXT day, the Monday (the day I report in to Glass) I was back at 150lbs so I gave Glass the option - she could either consider me as a gainer of 3lbs or as having stayed the same! She opted for the 'stayed the same'
On my own weight chart I had to record the 154lbs as I always go by the Sunday weight. The following week when the scales again showed 150lbs it appeared on my chart that I had lost 4lbs which was nice for me but to be honest I am sure I weighed the same as previous weeks. I tend to do that - lose some weight, then flutter around the same for several weeks and then drop again.
However, as I said, it's not looking good for tomorrow's weigh-in hmm
Watch this space .....
How is Glass's Mum by the way? Hope she is doing ok. Please pass on our thoughts and flowers if you speak or hear from Glass and thanks for stepping into the breach and supporting us all flowers to you as well!

glassortwo Sat 08-Dec-12 21:51:37

Notso you are doing a grand job. Well done everyone on.

Notsogrand Sat 08-Dec-12 21:40:05
