gilly I am a fan of myfitnesspal.com as well. It keeps me on track most of the time but has worked wonders with DH. It took me ages to get him to try it but I needed to as he does the cooking. Now he is a bit too prone to quote how bad certain things are for us, even when in public! He has lost about a stone. He is using the Hairy Dieter's cook book for most meals and they are very good. He hasn't always cooked so like to make things which don't require lots of preparation and special ingredients.

Regards sugar in your tea. I used to take it but decided to give it up many years ago and then after about 2 weeks tried it again and it was horrible! If you can just bring yourself to do it for a couple of weeks you will never need it again.

Good luck

glass just back from weigh in and have only lost 1lb this week but in all honesty I have not done any body magic or swimming I have been sat on my bum e-baying so a big kick up the backside this week,I have started a diary to keep me on track so I know I will not skip any meals and back to the swimming I think.DDs pal has done amazingly well and has just reached her 4st mark took her 19weeks she looks amazing, just shows what committment can do .hmm

Gillybob have a look at My Fitness Pal - it works out how many calories you need to take in each day to achieve the weight loss you want (in my case 1lb per week) - it even tells you if you are not eating enough!
Then when you enter what you have eaten or intend to eat, it automatically deducts the calories and shows you how many you have left.
That way you can 'save' enough for a little treat in the evening or whatever. It is very easy once you get the hang of it so maybe worth a look as, like you, I would get bored of writing things down and adding/subtracting and not bother! (yawn emoticon!)

notso I have to get my head together too and sort out this 1 1/2 stone I need to get rid of, so stick in and we will see how we do over this next week. I have just come back from Aquafit, I love it but it starts at 8.30 so by the time you get showered and home it 9.45 the night is finished.

Notso Wed 10-Apr-13 15:56:49

Back from a few days away and like a few others on here...have slipped a bit. First Easter weekend, then been away for teenage grandson's birthday party. Youngest grandson's birthday coming up this weekend. Too much cake around!
I haven't weighed in as I was away from home, but will do at the beginning of next week.
Am in desperate need of GETTING A GRIP. Maybe the suggestion of a bit of sunshine will help.
The natural sweetners I use glass are from the Truvia range, they don't have the chemically aftertaste that most sweetners have.

Can't wait until the new pool opens in my town. Only 3 months to go and its within walking distance too.

gillybob Wed 10-Apr-13 15:25:03

Well that's the 5 thousand dollar question isn't it Glass ?

Exercise? Can't do a lot for health reasons. (can do walking but thats about it and I already do as much as I can).

Diet? probably.

Counting calories? Boring

5: 2? Does that involve starvation?

It will be bread I will miss the most as am so used to having a sandwich at lunchtime. DH loves pasta dishes too and don't want to start cooking 2 different meals every evening.

annodomini Wed 10-Apr-13 13:38:36

I started a blog yesterday which I think only family can see, as I'm not sure how to make it public - or if I want to! I committed myself to swimming today and accordingly did so - only 200 metres, but it's a start. Now feeling a bit sore but am going again on Friday. Promise!

Bez Wed 10-Apr-13 13:31:54

I am about the same this week - not surprising really as DD has been here the last two weeks and DH was in hospital last week four days having an op - DD and I had a couple of meals out.

glassortwo Wed 10-Apr-13 13:02:52

Well I still have wine, but limit my bread.... infact really try to avoid it as once I start I find it hard to give up again.
Sugar you can use a sweetner, you can get one that is totally natural, I will have to ask notso what its called as I never use sugar.
Crisps once you stop eating them you can do without them, its the salt that you crave just takes a few days to break the addiction.
Cakes and biscuits I can live without.

glassortwo Wed 10-Apr-13 12:59:37

gilly which way do you want to handle it?
Diet, exercise, counting calories or 5:2, which suits you best?

gillybob Wed 10-Apr-13 12:59:27

PS I know my weaknesses if that helps.

Sugar in tea (Can't drink it without it)
Wine
Crisps (I adore them)
Bread

Don't bother with chocolate or cakes.

gillybob Wed 10-Apr-13 12:57:46

Glass I need help.............. please.

Having done the "diet" thing in the past and lost almost 3 stone it is creeping back on gradually at an alarming rate. Have several items of clothing that no longer fit me and don't want to end up back where I started. It is 10 times harder when DH can eat "two taties more than a pig" and never put on a single ounce.

glassortwo Wed 10-Apr-13 12:52:27

gally we all fall of the wagon at times, brush it out of the way and enjoy your fasting day. I know you will enjoy your coffee and treat tomorrow grin
jane well done, enjoy your narrowboating. sunshine

This week - 2.25lb

janeainsworth Wed 10-Apr-13 12:27:28

Lost 300g this week, down to 64.2,so quite pleased as that's 1 kilo since beginning of January.
However not expecting any marvels this week as we are on the narrowboat and consuming rather more [cake] and wine than usual grin

Gally Wed 10-Apr-13 12:08:14

2nd '2' day this week. Ok so far but as for the grog, I gave in last night as I was so depressed what with one thing and another. Porridge and blueberries for brekkie this morning and am now living it up on a cup of marmite. Decisions decisions for tonights repast.......
Have walked every day - a quick 20 minutes round the village and have also dusted off the rowing machine which told me I had used up 126 calories after this morning's effort!
Meeting Marelli and Granmanorm for coffee tomorrow so may allow myself a small reward wink

glassortwo Wed 10-Apr-13 11:28:27

glassortwo Tue 09-Apr-13 20:20:13

anno good to see you, there have been some great results with the 5:2 diet, you will shift that for you holidays. Give a shout if you have any problems and we will all see if we can help. Medication does take its toll but you should be sporting your swim suit for your holidays. smile
nanaej you will be glad to see the back of all the goodies. smile
move here is hoping that your physio gets you sorted.
grannyk well done you have managed to rein it back in again. smile
tegan you must be feeling really put on, expecting you to cover more hours when you have asked for a reduction.
I have put on 1/2lb... I am blaming the champagne on Saturday.

This week - 3.5lb

Right time for action folks, slate has been wiped clean and we start again tomorrow with all that rubbish cake and sweets behind us. I have 7 weeks until I go away with my two sisters for a few days so I need 1/2 a stone off, anyone else ready to take the plunge?

Tegan Tue 09-Apr-13 12:52:04

... I haven't ate chocolate for months and then one easter egg eaten late at night when I was tired just gave me a craving for more sweet food. Even ate a box of Thorntons that I was given at Christmas and had had no desire to eat since. Didn't even share them with anyone, and scoffed the lot very quickly [it was a huge box as well blush]. Can now feel stomach hanging over the top of my jeans sad.

Tegan Tue 09-Apr-13 12:49:16

I daren't go near the scales, having ate nothing but junk and chocolate for a week. Now being forced to work extra hours at work [even though I'd said I'd wanted to wind down towards retirement; so eating comfort food]. Difficult to eat healthily when you're feeling tired and brassed off sad.

GrannyK Tue 09-Apr-13 12:09:19

Didn't weigh myself or post last week as there was a definite " see how much chocolate you can eat" day over Easter. However , am pleased to report there was only the one and this week I am back down to the required weight to keep me happy, so all is well .
Best of luck to everyone for this week

Movedalot Tue 09-Apr-13 11:49:09

I've put on 1 lb and don't know why! sad DH bought ice cream at Easter and it is still sitting in the freezer unopened so I should have lost weight.

I am really fed up with the lack of mobility, it is getting me down now. If I were employed in a not sitting down role I would have been off work all year!
Moan, moan, moan!
