Will post weight on Wednesday to give me time to get over the weekend. I am on a fasting day today and am starving, trying to keep out of the kitchen, it's torture! Usually I sail through it, I don't know what is different today.confused

As said before, I've put back some of the weight I lost since moving to Switzerland over the winter. I lost 1.5 stones, and put back 6 lbs.
Weather has been awful so not as much gardening and walking as normal + injured my knee a couple of weeks ago.But got a real shock at the Dr's the other day, as they found my diabetes has rocketed - which is a real wake up call. So more exercise, will take up swimming again and much better portion and carb control. Have made appointment to go to diabetologist as soon as back from Paris to make sure we get back in control asap. Quite shaken by it all actually.

In the UK I was so well looked after, with 6 monthly appointments at a specialist clinic- but here you are on your own. Also joined the local diabetics association to make sure I get more support.

Up 2lb which I deserve. Bored in Buxton for a couple of days. Shopped at Chatsworth farm shop and Bakewell on the way home (great flapjack!) Cream tea in Coleshill. Out for lunch with friends on Friday and then the Great Malvern Food Festival on Saturday and son + fiancee stayed over last night. Oh, not to forget the gin and tonic marmalade my neice made for me. Also no exercise all week. Lucky to have got away with only +2lb!

Gardening this afternoon and gym tomorrow to try to get back on track. Out every night this week! This retirement lark is hard work!

Weighed first thing and about a pound I think - these dial scales are so hard to read! I was pleased though as expected it to go up - out at a family birthday celebration yesterday and we had delicious cakes!!

Galen Mon 27-May-13 11:25:45

Movedalot Happy birthday!wine

Nelliemoser Mon 27-May-13 10:56:46

59.5kg down to 58.9kg just over a 1lb.

I must switch my scales to metric at the back. I can't do the sums easily otherwise. Pleased with self. smile

Well, I've told the S.O.not to stay here or do any cooking over the weekend, but he has announced that he is going to get a take away curry tomorrow [which means he will eat it in front of me tomorrow night]. I don't think that's fair if I'm trying not to eat much for a few days sad. Am going to have a really early night tonight so my tummy might have shrunk a bit by tomorrow. One of the problems is that, when the weather is cold and horrible I have no desire to walk anywhere. I'm still in hibernation mode and it's nearly summer [or is summer; I've lost track].

annodomini Fri 24-May-13 15:37:52

Oops! forgot to post on Monday. I have got rid of a pound since I came back from France and have now lost a stone since starting the 5:2 diet. My cord trousers are hanging off my backside.

gillybob Fri 24-May-13 11:00:01

I glass have been trying really hard for two weeks, with only one (or two) little hiccups. I have totally cut out bread which is killing me as I love bread, I have stopped putting sugar in my tea (also really hard) and generally not eating between meals etc.

I do not have a set of scales in the house and was just generally hoping to see a difference in my clothes with waistbands not so tight etc. Does that make any sense?

Galen Fri 24-May-13 10:24:31

I've put on a couple of pounds this week and we have a local GN lunch on Sunday. Only 3weeks til the holiday.
Still reckon ill get into enough dresses (ever hopeful)

Movedalot Fri 24-May-13 10:17:13

Granny * Tegan you have my sympathy! I have just come back from a few days away, going out for lunch with friends today and then son and fiancee coming for the BH! I don't dare get on the scales! This social life is one of the things no one told me about in retirement. I knew it could be busy but had no idea it would involve so much eating! It is hopeles for someone like me who has no will power when a menu is put in front of me. Why have we got so many friends? grin

Tegan Wed 22-May-13 20:43:48

GrannyK; same here. Got up in the night and ate a huge chunk of cheese as well. And I've started drinking lots of Ribena at night [must stop buying it and make myself drink water instead]. Can you get addicted to Ribena? And that's probably why I'm not sleeping well; too much sugar late at night. And, when I'm tired I eat. Anyway, I'm going to have a complete health kick this weekend and I'm just about to tell the S.O. that he's not staying over this weekend and cooking himself lots of food because I can't do a detox if someone's stuffing themselves with food while I'm doing it. And I want to do some pilates or something in the living room. If I haven't lost some weight by Tuesday I'll give up.

Hello - lost another half pound this week, now 12.st 11.5 lbs. Rather pleased. Just 3.5lbs to go to get to my first target and then another 7lbs to get to my second target. Keeping fingers crossed. sunshine to all dieters.

glassortwo Wed 22-May-13 11:04:26

grannyK just bite the bullet and get on the scales, you may just be surprised it may not be as bad as you imagine..... then you can put it behind you and focus... but if you dont get weighed you will think whats the point and have that biscuit or piece of chocolate.. I always deal with things better if I know the extent of the damage, its the unknown I have no control over....take control and you will be fine. sunshine

GrannyK Wed 22-May-13 10:59:33

Deeply depressed .
Refuse to weigh myself as I just know I have put on a couple of pounds this week . No real overindulgence all week - just lots of driving around and not much exercise and then AN ENORMOUS BINGE SESSION on Monday evening. No idea why ?????- Haven't actually had quite such a chocolate and biscuit fest for years .
At least posting this will hopefully make me forgive myself rapidly , focus on being back to normal this week , start eating sensibly again and entering it on mfp and get back to the weight where I was happy about three weeks ago .
Oh dear , oh dear !

glassortwo Wed 22-May-13 10:57:58

ginny its lovely to see you, well done in losing 2 1/2 in your first week, sometimes its the second week when it shows as the body sometimes takes a shock when you first change your intake and holds on to the weight. So dont be disheartened.
It can be hard when we are away but just try to make wise choices and you will be fine, and dont forget that sometimes when we think we are hungry we are dehydrated so make sure you drink lots of water it really does make a difference. Enjoy your break away, look forward to seeing you next week. smile

This week 5lb 4oz
Challenge total 2st 11lb 11oz

ginny Wed 22-May-13 10:44:39

Hope it's ok for me to join in.
Started WW on-line last Monday. I lost 2 1/2 lbs. I thought it might be more as I have a lot to loose but will keep going.I have to be good this week as we are away over the bank holiday w/end and that always makes it harder.Well done to all of you . If only it were as easy to take off the weight as to put it on !

Galen Tue 21-May-13 11:42:32

Put a pound on! Will. My evening dresses fit in 3weeks time?

Movedalot Tue 21-May-13 10:55:39

But Nellie if you go with pounds or stones it sounds like a bigger loss! smile

margrete Tue 21-May-13 10:53:23

Nelliemoser, I find I can cope much better with metric, at least in this area. Imperial does not really work with decimals. Metric is based on the number ten and its multiples, so decimals are easy. The name 'decimal' - decima - Latin for a tenth - is the clue.

Bez Mon 20-May-13 17:19:03

I am about another pound down this week - still on the difficult to read dial type scales grin

Nelliemoser Mon 20-May-13 16:21:49

I have weighed in for the first time, now I have some reliable scales.

9st 5lb or 59.5 kg. That is better that 61kg a few weeks ago. I thought my clothes felt looser. There is no escaping now I have posted! Its a matter of honour.
I am on my 500cals fast day today. I am tempted to go with measuring in Kgs as calculating decimal points of Stones is more complicated.
