High cholesterol and high blood sugar level (pre diabetic) as activated me into doing something drastic.
Doc put me on Statins 6 months ago and after reading about all the possible side effects and the ones that I was experiencing I decided I had to do something.
Doc says come off statins try and eat a better diet and he'll test me again in 2 months.
I'm thinking positive and fingers crossed my will power that I have suddenly found will see me thru.

jeanie99 come and join us on the diet thread, you will get lots of support over there. But it sounds like you have got a positive attitude and thats half the battle. Good luck.

Thanks for your interest glassortow, I don't need to loose weight I am about what I should be for my height, I need to eat the foods which will help the medical conditions I have.

Do you know a good website that can help in this respect for high cholesterol and pre diabetis, I've searched but can't find anything that gives enough detail.

For instance I know that some fruits are better for me than others e.g bananas should be eaten only occassionaly and the same applies to vegetables and meat.

What I need is a website that says this fruit/veg/bread/meat etc is better than other foods, and what to avoid.

It's so complicated finding the right foods for me that will produce the effect I need to bring my levels down.

Can you believe it 5 weeks on and I haven't eaten any cakes, I've now got over the craving but it was hard in the first few days. I do wonder if I did say for instance had a pancake whether the craving would come back.

I've lost some weight about 4 pounds which I didn't want to do as my weight is alright and certainly hope this doesn't continue.

Many thanks for the link tanith it's very useful.
