Chin up glass See you here tomorrow
Thanks notso
Glad you had a great time with your sisters glass
Sorry dont know where the 156 came from
just read it without.
Don't understand your 'challenge total' what is it?
I am sorry everyone I have abandoned you this week, I have been dealing with a matter at home and it has had me really down in the dumps and have not been on GN, but I have given myself a kick in the butt and hope I have sorted my head out.
gilly I posted this for grannylin a few weeks ago and its a basic plan but might help, but I would wait until after your holidays now.
I would try to limit your bread and cereal, so if having cereal in the morning avoid bread for the rest of the day, or have youghurt and fruit for breakfast then use your 2 slices of bread (try to only have 2 slices from a small 400g wholemeal loaf)for a sandwich at lunchtime.
Use your plate and divide into thirds have your protein on one third and try to fill your other 2/3 with veg, you can have potato but I would limit it to a small amount.
So in one day have 1 portion of cereal (good guide is 2 weetabix or 35g of porridge).
Have your daily milk allowance is 350mm skimmed, 250mm semi, 175mm whole.
Obviously no cakes or biscuits, snack on fruit and drink lots of water, this can be in the form of fruit teas, green tea etc, sugar free juice or plain water.
When cooking dont use oil try fry light spray, or grill any lean meat you have, (trim off any visible fat). Try to avoid ful fat mayo etc.
These are just some basics, but should help.
notso keep at it, it will show on the scales.
move you must have been making good choices in what you have eaten.
tegan I would check the calories in your breakfast biscuits as some are very high, and they promote them as being good for us but just check to make sure.
sba we all fall off the wagon at sometime, just you tackle things the best way for you, just be careful that you eat enough of the things that will help your weight loss and drink pleanty of water.
notso your loss is fantastic, but dont let it slip away, I think booking your reunion is the best leveler you could have, having something to work towards makes such a difference.
grannyK when its creeping on like that its a good thing to write down what you are having each day, you can be nibbling here and there but not even notice you are doing it, but once its in the mouth write it down and it makes you aware of where the damamge is coming from.
ginny nice stead loss, thats the best way.
tegan if you focus you should manage that.
galen its not much but at least it off, your dresses will look fab.
jane it will soon be off.
elegran thats very welcome to throw into the pot, sometimes just curtailing the sweet things is enough to bring things back into line.
marelli we all have a different method which suits us, one mans pleasure is another mans poison so they say.
nellie fantastic
whenIwas you have done well to stay focused.
notso its difficult to stay focused when you are awy from home, now things are back to normal you will be able to get into your routine.
I managed to put 2lb on while I was away with my sisters...but it was worth it
This week 7lb 12oz
Challenge total 3st 8oz 156
Hi Glass I know I am not an "official member" of the diet club. I do not have any scales in the house and have a bit if an unconventional method of dieting having been quite "screwed up" by diet clubs in the past I figured that if I try clothes on regularly I should be able to gauge whether I have lost/gained weight by the fit of the clothes. I have been trying really hard for around 4 weeks now. Not dieting as such but eating sensibly and cutting out the "beloved" sugar in my tea which is a killer. No biscuits, crisps, biscuits etc. but sensible meals as normal. I would still welcome any tips you have for sensible dieting without starvation.
Sorry everyone I have been very distracted with family matters this week and have not got on to see how you have all been geeting on.
I am going to go and read all your posts and see what you have been up to. It might be tomorrow when I get to answer to you all xx
Hi all - I've gained this week - 1 lb, so I'm now 12stone 12.5 lbs again. It was DH's birthday so far too much
and
and too much food altogether! Will try to do better next week
Day 3 of the Atkins Induction and I would have expected a small weight loss, but nothing!
So I had a little check ...... I'd completely forgotten that cabbage/greens is quite high in carbs and I've been eating loads of it. Doh!
Back to the drawing board.
Hi Glass how was your trip to see your sisters?
I have had a hungry week but at least haven't put anything on!
Spa day tomorrow so hope the lunch is low calorie. I really do need to have a big push so I can get into my summer clothes.
Does anyone else find when they have had a really good diet day they have difficulty sleeping? I don't feel hungry but just can't sleep. If I have been a pig I sleep really well.
Must find more time to go to the gym.
Tegan not sure about those brekfast biscuits, when I looked at one of them they were quite high in calories. I can't have them in the house in case I get a craving and eat the lot!
Fruit is part of my problem, I'm quite happy to sit and eat a whole melon!
Sbagran and Notso Thanks for your comments. Definitely helps having the feeling that someone out there is noticing.
Two thoughts :
I personally am hooked on MFP which has helped me tremendously. I even fill it in after the odd late night moment of total madness (anything between 500-1000 extra calories!) and it tends to (a) never be quite as awful as I thought it was and (b) get me back on the straight and narrow for the next day
AND
having watched the Robert Lustig youtube excerpt posted a few weeks back,it would seem that a calorie is not just a calorie after all, so you are probably right about the biscuit/fruit situation Sbagran
Best of luck this week
I ate some more of my 'breakfast biscuits' after I'd eaten todays salad as I was still feeling a bit hungry and was going to the cinema. I'm worried that this is enough to turn those biscuits into 'eat a few at anytime of the day; especially late at night when I get the munchies'. This is what happens to me with food. Once I've broken whichever rules I've set myself it's all hell let loose. But I've stopped having a latte with suger when I go to the cinema and I've just realised I haven't had a banana today so I can have one now
. I'm really tired and that's when I get the munchies.
Notso and GrannyK I am totally with you as I too have fallen off the wagon during the last month
I was doing quite well, then along came a few dodgy times which involved a little bit quite a lot of comfort eating and on went a few pounds, but I didn't care which didn't help, so I know exactly how you feel.
I tried the 5:2 diet but it wasn't for me as some diets don't do it for some people.
I have been really good on My Fitness Pal and was frequently told that I wasn't eating enough! I upped my calorie intake but think I probably upped it with the wrong things such as those dastardly little biscuits that lurk in the cupboard and then jump out and get you when you're not looking! Possibly instead of having 100 calories worth of biscuits I should have had a 100 calories worth of fruit or something equally boring!
I am trying a new tack this week and am not going to weigh for a MONTH!!!
I am not going to bother filling in MFP but I am eating absolutely loads of fruit and veg, sensible amounts of meat and cheese, avoiding as much bread as possible and cutting out biscuits completely. I will have the occasional pudding as we have some social events ahead but will be sensible. I will also keep at the walking as at last the weather makes it a pleasure!
I will weigh again in a month and THERE HAD BETTER BE A DECENT LOSS
(What's the betting I will have a little peek on Sunday next at my usual weigh-in time!)
Glass for your records I don't think I posted last week as it was a manic week and to be honest I bottled it as I had put on
Sadly this week's result isn't any better -
Weight on Sunday morning 158.8lbs or 11st 4 (near as makes no odds 5) lbs
Sorry girls - good luck to everyone else!
GrannyK, I'm a stone heavier than I was the week before Christmas. Nightmare. It took so long to get it off, then very quickly, it goes back on. I love your 'slightly beserk' description, describes it exactly!
I don't panic or get upset about it but I do get absolutely furious with myself for being so weak.
At the end of this month I'm going to a reunion type thingy with people I used to work with. I haven't seen any of them since I retired and moved away 6 years ago.
Because of the weight gain I was on the point of cancelling my trip. But from somehere came a 'sod that for a game of soldiers' thought. So I booked my hotel and am now committed.
To kick start a bit of weight loss, I'm doing the Atkins Induction for a couple of weeks. I wont be able to keep it up, but it'll be a start.
Ginny, your loss is brilliant, so keep going! I know how challenging it is when you have a lot to lose. Even though I'm now a stone heavier than 6 months ago, I'm still 3.5 stones lighter than I was when Glass started this thread just over 2 years ago. All those odd bits of weight loss soon add up....just keep on and on adding them up. Or down!
Totally panicking here .
Some of you ladies seem very calm when you put weight back on, but I am now even heavier than I was last week ( just half a pound ) which keeps me at the heaviest I have been all year , even though it is only 3 lbs.
I felt I was doing quite well during the week and then arrived at my mother's ( a veritable Aladdin's cave of all my banned foods- chocolate and biscuits especially ) very late last night and, instead of falling into bed, went slightly berserk. Really annoyed.
Oh well , another week , another opportunity , I suppose !
Ginny That's a good and steady loss! Be proud of it even if you feel you still have a long way to go. If you go expecting miracles you will be disappointed and discouraged. I am on the 5:2 diet and about a pound a week is what I am losing.
3 weeks .... 4 lbs down. I know it's a loss but I'd hoped for more as I have a lot to loose and I have really stuck to it.
Have finally got control of the eating. Have banned bread and cheese from the house. Having a small breakfast of oat bars in the morning [just biscuits really] so, if I'm hungry late at night I just think of looking forward to having something to eat with my morning cup of tea. Then having something on rice cakes for lunch and a huge salad with fish of some kind later. Then a glass of almond drink in the evening. Using soya instead of milk in drinks. If I could just get more exercise it would be even better, but some decent weather might help that. Just off to the garden centre with some vouchers I had for Christmas, then I've got to go back to work later this afternoon. I need to get down to 60kg in 3 weeks [it's a target I've set myself]; am just over 63 today. Just hope I can keep this up.
13.6.1/4

I have gained 200g.
Had a rather alcoholic weekend so am blaming that
Can I add (subtract?) a kilo which I have lost in the last 5 or 6 weeks? not on the 5:2 diet but just being very good about cakes/chocolate and so on and having tiny helpings. Also keeping lots of fruit in the house - that is easier in summer when the weather is not so cold.
I completely 'went to pot' when I went on the 5:2 Diet for a few weeks
. My attitude to chocolate and all of the stuff that made me fat before, kicked in again and the weight started to creep up. So, I'm back to small portions of the right stuff, as it's the only thing that seems to work for me (sometimes). I'd like to get off about half-a stone...
.
Monday 27may 58.74kg
Monday 3rd June 57.8kg = loss of 2lb 1oz.
I have found this very useful link to an imperial/metric unit calculator.
It covers all sorts of units and sits well as a ready to use link on your computer desktop.

Hallo again, everyone. I've been away from the site for a while too - holiday, extra work, dread of the scales, etc. Anyway, tried today and have lost 1.5kg since the end of March, which I think was the last time I posted here! I'm sure it won't last, but it should help the total look good while it does! Hope all you losers are doing well and enjoying good weather for exercise when/if we get it. Not to mention the odd salad.
