DD uses a timer for DGS. He is such a dreamer. When I was putting him to bed Saturday night I discovered he'd spent all day wearing 2 pairs of pants

It reminds me of how they used to play brisk "marching" type music on the concourse at Waterloo station to move people along in the rush hour. It worked!

Shops are the experts at this, with pubs being a close second. Music to spend money by and songs for swinging shoppers.

When I taught Year 3 I used the Mission Impossible tune.

i knew someone who used to play "tidying up music" - everyone rushed around tidying up. William Tell or some such. A single is not long enough to get all the toys put away

Music in pubs is a real pain... I have been the only customer, asked for it to be turned down or off, had a refusal and walked out on more than one occasion.

That brings back memories of my first big humiliation aged 5 at school in Sydney. The Kindergarten teacher, Mrs Smith, played one tune as a cue for us to walk round the circle painted on the floor & another when we had to sit at our desks. One day 3 of us got it wrong & I had to hold out my hand for several sharp strokes with a ruler. I cried & she sat me on her knee & tried to comfort me. I was absolutely overcome with a sense of injustice & incensed that she dare comfort me after causing the pain. I've never forgotten the feeling of humiliation & injustice & it's affected what I've fought for ever since. But it also made me over-anxious about getting things wrong.

I have seen a variety of methods used to get children to do things quickly but even I ended up feeling stressed when the teacher played Flight of the Bumble Bee as a tidy up tune, and I was just observing!
