Good morning smile my goodness we are into August and halfway through the school holidays. Good luck.

Seem to have stuck at 9 1/2 stone [this is less than I've been for a long long time, having crept back up to 10 1/2 recently]. I'm going to the gym every day with my free 7 day pass, but I'm going to join when it runs out [Wednesday]. Plucking up the courage to have a sauna this morning [it's ladies only morning]. Worryingly one of my knees is a bit sore [may have been puching myself too hard] and the house is a tip because I've been leaving everything [housework/washing up] and going to bed early to avoid my downfall, the laste night munchies. Can't do the squat things because of my knees but doing 20 minutes on the rowing machine and using lots of weights. Why oh why can I do something like this in the short term but spend the rest of the time watching the weight creep back up and eating crisps. What has helped is realising I've gained a week [I was a week ahead of myself with holiday plans etc] so put that week aside as a being totally selfish and exercising/pampering myself. Beginning to understand why people go to health farms [although would never be able to afford that].

I've lost another pound - making 5lb in total. It's coming off very slowly, and I felt this morning, that if I hadn't lost any, that I must be doing something wrong. That always prompts me to give up and start munching away on everything in sight - one chocolate biscuit/packet of crisps never enough! However, I seem to be doing ok. Onward and downward!
Good luck everyone! smile

Oh dear, oh dearie me.
I put on 3lbs over my hols. I am now 10 7.
There are mitigating circumstances, I tell myself. After impaling my ribs on the handlebar of my bike and making contact between knees and ground, I have hardly done any exercise, except a little light treadmill walk. Plus I'm cautious about 'going to the loo' as it hurts! I have been eating beans in the hopes that beanz meanz (I'll let you fill in the blankz!)
Two days of fasts this week, starting today.
Hope you're all doing better than me.

Marelli Mon 04-Aug-14 15:07:49

MrsPickle that sounds awful! sad Try AllBran?

Tegan Mon 04-Aug-14 15:08:37

3 lbs isn't bad if you're on holiday Mrs P. Put it behind you and start again. All that beanz do to me is give me wind blush. Perhaps you're a bit dehydrated?

BeeWitch Mon 04-Aug-14 15:11:38

Weighed this morning and am 3lbs heavier - but I get water retention something awful this weather. It's me tummy - a right jelly-belly at present ..
hmm

tegan enjoy your pampering smile and make use of your extra week.
marelli well done 1lb at a time is nice and steady smile
mrspickle you have been on your hols 3lb isnt bad. Drink lots of water that may help things move along, weetabix works for me wink
bee I have the same problem in the heat, and have to make sure I drink lots of water.

Notso Tue 05-Aug-14 08:47:59

I've returned from a week away...also 3lbs heavier. My mitigating circumstances are the clutch going on my car half way up a very steep hill in Marlborough. It took a fair few days of wine and other treats to calm me down!

Back on track this week.

Marelli...you're doing great!

Good luck everyone smile

Tegan Tue 05-Aug-14 09:33:12

Why is it so difficult to lose weight when you get older? Yesterday I spent 1/2 hour in the sauna/steam room, took the dog for a long walk, went to the gym for a workout then did a few more exercies when I got home. Had two small'ish meals and lost nothing. I'm sure in my youth I'd've lost half a stone doing that sad.

Marelli Tue 05-Aug-14 09:34:12

Notso, that was a very good reason for needing calming treats! I would have had to have had a very large bar of Dairy Milk. grin

On the plus side of giving myself extremely unpleasant food poisoning on Sunday - who would have thought that the sell by date on a packet of raisins was serious ? - I now weight 9st 1lb.
Haven't been that weight in years , and obviously I wont be it next week when I stop sipping peppermint tea and nibbling dry biscuits
But hey , every cloud .....!

Galen Tue 05-Aug-14 12:13:31

14 03/4. Had my scales repaired (inserted a new battery).
Got to lose at least a stone by end of September.

whitewave Tue 05-Aug-14 15:12:45

I am astounded just back from Cornwall with the grandchildren, and pasties clotted cream and saffron cake and have lost 1lb!!!! Perhaps that is the answer - sod the diet and lo and behold it falls off you.
I think it is more likely that I didn't stop for a whole week, just falling into bed every night at 9pm or so and getting up at 7pm and not stopping for the whole day.

Should be half my weight by the end of August, as I am grand-parenting for a lot of the time

BeeWitch Tue 05-Aug-14 18:04:19

Well, good luck with the rest of the week everyone - I think I shall invest in some nettle or dandelion tea and try to shift some retained water.... hmm

Galen Tue 05-Aug-14 18:18:53

Well my evening meal is 350 cals (not counting the vodka and cinzano)
It's chopped onion and garlic sautéed in olive oil, chopped red pepper and tinned tomatoes and gnocchi added, simmered til soft, a little mozzarella on top, popped under grill till melted and -da da voilaà

Galen Tue 05-Aug-14 18:19:37

Might add a few capers to sharpen it hmm

Galen Tue 05-Aug-14 18:20:39

Sort of ratatouille base really

Galen Tue 05-Aug-14 18:21:40

think it's healthy! Worrying! I don't do healthy.

Nanabelle Wed 06-Aug-14 01:03:26

Just managed to loose 1.5 lbs - but more visitors this week ………..and dh has put two boxes of magnums in the freezer…….. I was only looking for ice cubes! 1.5 lbs to go before I've lost a stone. Clothes feeling much better know and cycling/walking up hills is a lot easier.

But it's still so hard, isn't it - choosing to eat the right things all the time!

Nanabelle Wed 06-Aug-14 01:04:27

now, not "know" blush

Tegan Wed 06-Aug-14 14:06:12

I've jarred my bad knee by using the rowing machine too much [I've never used one before and I loved it]. Spoke to friend yesterday who also has dodgy knees and said her doctor told her to avoid rowing machines; too late now sad. Just having to be careful for a few days [and it was going so well]....going to do a chicken soup diet for a few days. Still not shifting any more weight, though [but did have a chunk of cheese last night blush]. May do myself a cauliflower cheese meal tomorrow to get my cheese fix out of the way before evening time comes.

mrshat Wed 06-Aug-14 17:13:04

Still 12st 4lbs - I guess I should be pleased that at least I am staying the same and not gaining ................. hmm
