Can anyone recommend a reasonably low calorie wholemeal biscuit ?

mrsmopp Sat 10-Jan-15 23:46:17

I only like ginger nuts.

NanKate Sat 10-Jan-15 23:32:36

Those Nairn Choc Chip look yummy - on a mission to find them. grin

I use MyFitnessPal too. It helps to keep track of what you eat. If you know you need a couple of biscuits every day then fit it into your diet. Allow yourself 3 a day and deduct the calories from your daily total so you know how many calories you have left for food.

Nairn's Dark Choc Chip Oat Biscuits - very tasty and also 45 calories.

Eating only one of them is the difficult part, tho!

Couldn't just eat 1 Jaffa cake.......blush

Nelliemoser Sat 10-Jan-15 14:23:38

They are still 70 calories.

Jaffa cakes seem to have 45cals. However if you want to lose weight it's best to give up snacking altogether.

Which fact we all know only too well.

I need to show this thread to DH who has just devoured 2/3 Pk dark choc digestives !!

Annoyingly his cholesterol is very good and he doesn't put on weight sad

I've been following the myfitnesspal way of losing weight. It's been working for me (mainly!) because it starts off at 1200 calories and you add in what you eat as you go through the day. I buy Aldi's breakfast biscuits (170 calories) for a snack during the evening. These stave off hunger pangs and aren't too sweet. I've tried other ones, but prefer these.

We eat caramel snackerjacks if we fancy something sweet. Around 50 calories and because they're big you feel as if you've eaten something.

Dont be silly, loopyloo! In broken biscuits the calories evaporate - it's a scientfic fact! wink

Stansgran Thu 08-Jan-15 12:49:42

Ah yes Marmite rice crackers. It's the whole pack for me . I dare not buy them.

NanKate Thu 08-Jan-15 10:34:12

Found the recipes thanks. flowers

NanKate Wed 07-Jan-15 20:15:47

Thanks for all the great ideas.

Stansgran where do I find the recipe section, I can't find it anywhere.hmm

shysal Wed 07-Jan-15 19:15:23

I made some low calorie wholewheat crackers the other day, about 20 of them, then ate the lot with cheese left from Christmas. They weren't even very nice, not rolled thinly enough! blush

FlicketyB Wed 07-Jan-15 18:26:19

Not whole meal and not sweet. I am a fan of marmite rice biscuits. One is enough, it just seems to stem hunger pangs so much more effectively.

I once enquired of a mother of a badly behaved child, in a meeting with staff about his behaviour, why she had given him 7 jaffa cakes in his lunch box. "Because they are the best low fat alternative" she said. "To what?!!" chorused 3 voices.

Stansgran Wed 07-Jan-15 17:42:51

I've just posted a recipe for digestive biscuits in the recipes section. Makes about 20 and all 20 are delicious down to the last crumb.

henetha Wed 07-Jan-15 17:31:55

Jaffa cakes (or substitute supermarket ones) are low calorie.

Lona Wed 07-Jan-15 17:29:30

papaoscar They still sell 'em, probably in Sainsbury, or even Waitrose.

vampirequeen Wed 07-Jan-15 17:28:30

Neither do they have calories if you eat them standing up in the kitchen.

loopylou Wed 07-Jan-15 17:14:58

I did hear that broken biscuits don't have any calories because they'd fallen out.........

papaoscar Wed 07-Jan-15 17:13:28

Wouldn't mind a Garibaldi -havent seen one in years.

jinglbellsfrocks Wed 07-Jan-15 13:39:26

I so want a fig roll biscuit now. hmm

papaoscar Wed 07-Jan-15 13:39:05

I did toy with the idea of making my own oat-based sugar-free biscuits but have never done it. Easier to buy off the shelf, sadly.

jinglbellsfrocks Wed 07-Jan-15 13:38:50

There is only 64 calories in one fig roll biscuit. I love fig roll biscuits. Not wholemeal, but the fig makes up for that. smile

Only for the strong willed though. Not for me. sad
