I would put a jacket or pashmina on - they cover a multitude of sins. When you are sitting down for the wedding breakfast no one will notice. Have a lovely day.

On the basis that the bride will get all the attention, I'd do whatever made you happiest. If the outfit is comfy and the idea of more shopping fills you with dread, stick with what you have. Add some accessories as suggested and have a wonderful day.

I'm sure you will look lovely! A lovely pashmine is a good idea if you have one, or a smart dark jacket.

Colourful scarf/pashmina over one shoulder Jenni Murray style perhaps. Other than that I do not actually believe things are that bad, bold jewellery, great hair, lots of make up and a huge smile are all the embellishment you will need.

If you are really not happy with it, buy a different top, a longer length one, or a flowing velvet dress ( Cotton Traders do a nice looking dress for about £40 in blue, black or claret) it will cover all sins!Just been looking at their site.

I thought your outfit sounded so nice Teetime - is that the one you were posting about on another thread? that I was going to nip off to Monsoon and look for the top to go with my black velvet trousers (and hope we don't end up at the same party )

OK so I'm not the slimmest person on the planet, so I know where you are coming from. DD is getting married on Friday, it's a casual wedding so no really expensive Jacques Vert needed, & i have a purple swing dress from Debenhams ( £40 odd quid) & I reckon it looks better on me than on the stick insect wearing it on the website.

If you don't want a new outfit . accessorise-a really sparkly necklace will draw the eye upwards

Yes the trousers are wide cut black velvet (decided not to go with the jeans style devore ones from Monsoon) thank fully the wedding is just an evening party (and as DH said before will be dark) and I jolly well hope there wont be any photos of us.

I have a huge bust and so never wear light colours as tops because the large pale expanse makes me look even huger. So I'd personally get a darker but still gorgeous top.
But a big bust may not be a problem for you.

I also find any type of wide trouser unflattering on me - though fab on slim Katharine Hepburn types! - as they tend just to look baggy and make my actually quite slender legs look big. I wear skinnies ( obviously not suitable for a wedding!) or cigarette pants instead. Again this may not be your problem.

I'd definitely go for a dress, but you don't say how tall or large you are or your figure type, so it could well be your outfit suits you fine.

Lastly, ( despite Jenni Murray) as a big woman with an hourglass figure I really don't like pashminas, which make me look like a ship in full sail, so I always stick to jackets with a bit of structure.

I'm bigger on the bottom than the top and I think my booosum is ok and the top is a very warm colour. Bum however is bigger than Venezuala. Pashimas and scarves have a way of garrotting me in mixed company. I think I am going to have to go with it as I have no time to get to any nice shops (we don't have any here unless you count EWM which I don't) but I will take the black and the wine coloured sparkly Monsoon tops with me (I buy one every year) in case they look better. Until then its starvation rations, Zumba today, golf tomorrow and Friday - perhaps I can sweat two stone off by Saturday.

PS I have seen a picture of the many tattooed bride at the their wedding on a Florida beach - I say nothing.

If your top half isn't that big, the champagne colour sounds lovely. And the velvet fabric will make the trousers nice and 'fluid'.

I loved the top when I saw it at the MH meet up and there is never anything wrong with wide legged trousers. You will look gorgeous - a really glamorous granny!

I love the idea of pashminas (and keep buying them! ) but I can't keep them under control so I'd opt for jewellery if you need something else.

Glad to hear that some of you have problems with pashminas. I go out feeling in control, but this doesn't last as the dreaded pash takes on a life of its own, ignoring all my efforts with brooches, etc. to fasten it down. I am amused by the huge scarves TV presenters seem to wear these days, even when indoors - perhaps they too have physical bits they wish to hide! Enjoy your "do" and remember that a smile is the best cosmetic of all!

My pashmina is locked away in an airtight box so the moths don't get to it so I very rarely wear it; in fact I need to check that I haven't in fact, sealed a few moths in there with it....I do that sometimes and then worry that, by opening said box I've 'let one in'.....

...mind you I think there are some moth extermination sachets in there with it......

My eldest DS married into a Sikh family. The wedding ceremony was at the Sikh temple and I had a lovely Indian outfit. However, the pashmina and headscarf were an absolute nightmare! In all the photos I look a complete mess trying to juggle scarves, shawls, garlands etc. etc. Of course the bride's mother looked serene!
