Anyone Out There With A Completely Flat Stomach?

I've lost a bit of weight over the last few months, which I'm pleased about. I'm also more toned, and feel fitter than I have for a while.

I used to be a size 10 with a completely flat stomach and no fat around my middle. Over the past couple of years however pads of fat have crept onto my hips and I've developed an unsightly "gunt" which is not shifting. Not yet, anyway.

Does anyone else possess one of these pesky stubborn things? If so, have you succeeded in getting rid? Or am I stuck with it now?

I'm 56. Perhaps it's an age thing....

Oh yes, definitely. I've had a browse already. I've ditched most of my carbs now but still need inspiration. No low fat stuff for me either! Proper food is the way to go. Flat stomach here I comesmile.

gettingonabit Do explore the Low Carb High Fat thread on here. Gives you a good insight into how and why. Delicious recipes and ultimately a flat, no visceral fat, stomach
See you there ?

I have just started taking inulin powder as I don't think that it will do any harm and might be beneficial. I'm not overweight and do exercise regularly but I have still got that flabby stomach.

I'm intrigued by your success, bb. Well done on your fabulous weight loss btw.

BBbevan Tue 09-Aug-16 17:16:58

Sorry only jokinggrin
Though it is nearly there. Diagnosed diabetic in March of this year. Went on LC HF diet result, reversed diabetes, lost 2st. 6lb and nearly flat stomach. It's a bit wobbly though

Ok bb- what's the secret? Have you always had one?

BBbevan Tue 09-Aug-16 15:38:29

Yes grin

Visceral fat goes first with fat loss, well, that's my understanding. Key is to maintain muscle whilst losing fat, as muscle is what is important for good shape & function.

Certainly not me! I had twins and enjoy cheese...

jinglbellsfrocks Sun 07-Aug-16 17:22:39

I hate salmon. And olive oil.

whitewave Sun 07-Aug-16 16:54:15

Fatty fish - omega 3 , nuts, olive oil etc was positively encouraged by DHs heart classes.

Other fats in strict moderation.

jinglbellsfrocks Sun 07-Aug-16 15:57:00

Let the tiger keep his nuts.

I'm sorry. I had to say that.

jinglbellsfrocks Sun 07-Aug-16 15:55:55

Anya do you still have blueberries with cream for brekker? Porridge with skimmed milk for me.

jinglbellsfrocks Sun 07-Aug-16 15:54:30

The jury is still out, medically speaking, re low carb high fat. Wouldn't do it myself. And certainly wouldn't do it to DH. (I want him to last me) #arteries

Anya Sun 07-Aug-16 15:48:48

Anyone tried tiger nuts?

Anya Sun 07-Aug-16 15:48:12

I think some are confused by the concept of LCHF....it doesn't mean you go round stuffing yourself with fats. It means you cut down on carbs ( especially the bad ones) and allow yourself a bit more fat than usual. This includes things like fatty fish, cheese, nuts, etc..and cutting out low fat processed foods which are full of nasties anyway.

BBbevan Sun 07-Aug-16 15:12:01

No it sn't * Rowantree* But perceived by some as such There is a whole thread on GN devoted to it

NfkDumpling Sun 07-Aug-16 14:36:24

I'm just very ecconomical to run. I heard that sleeping uses 600 calories. Tosh. 60 would probably see me though the night with no problem. I tried the 5:2 diet and did loose around half a stone in six months having 1000 calories on the eating days. Then we went on holiday for a week!

Now going to read up on Inulin. Try anything once.

Rowantree Sun 07-Aug-16 13:51:56

Low carbs high fat? Isn't that unsafe?

BBbevan Sun 07-Aug-16 13:43:18

* gettingonabit* I have got rid of my visceral fat with the LCHF diet. Jings will say that causes heart problems, but my cholesterol, blood sugar and blood pressure have gone down

Rowantree Sun 07-Aug-16 13:18:52

jingl and Anya - apparently you'd need to eat huge quantities of the appropriate foods to make a difference. (Research conducted by inulin manufacturers possibly?) Nevertheless, I'm interested in trying it.

I have been passing this thread by since it started and this morning I realised why. The very last thing I would ever want is a completely flat stomach. I somehow associate it with being underweight and angular. I think a slight roundness to the stomach looks so much nicer than a dead flat one, with clothes and without.

jinglbellsfrocks Sat 06-Aug-16 19:33:35

Perhaps the stuff's more concentrated in the powder.

Anya Sat 06-Aug-16 18:58:53

Why not just eat the vegetables and fruit indeed?

Anya Sat 06-Aug-16 18:57:29

Genetics plays a part to a greater or lesser degree, along with other factors.
