OH has cooked a chicken casserole with mushrooms, tomatoes and loads of other vegetables. Still freezing here and -7 tonight. Was watching the lunchtime news where they were digging cars out of the snow in Corsica. .

Now all I have to do is resist any other food this evening. My weakness is cracker bread - gluten free and butter - note to self do not be tempted!!!

Well it went down wellAnya and SiL is a very fussy eater. The crumble disappeared too, with ice cream or Ambrosia custard. Then both DH and SiL went to sleep. I had just one spoonful.pudding and it was glorious

BB that's one of my favourite recipes. We substitute mushroom for the potatoes.

Cold here and we are in the clouds. Dinner tonight is all ready. Hairy Dieters Spanish chicken. DD and I won't have the potatoes. But I have made an Apple crumble for DH and SiL. [Envy]

Indeed what else could you do? Best just to roll over and enjoy it. Glad the move is still in track.

No too bad over here Mamie grey, damp and a bit nippy. I've got GD2 (5) here with a sore throat and I've just lost a game of Top Trumps to her. We've just had a roasted chicken from the supermarket with coleslaw.

It is freezing here and we are not getting above zero all day. We are cooking lots of cold-weather stuff. OH did a casserole of pork, chorizo, tomatoes and haricot beans yesterday. For lunch I am doing the Belgian dish of chicory, ham and cheese sauce and tonight is smoked haddock chowder with leeks and turnip and squash instead of potatoes. Is it as cold over there?

How exciting BB. Yes we are fine thanks. We are still chopping trees and OH is teaching himself hedge-laying from YouTube videos.

We are still with DD. A week or so and we may complete. Hurray
Thanks for asking * Mamie* Hope you and DH are well and getting ready for more gardening. We shall have a much bigger garden with several fruit trees,a large caged strawberry bed and several raised beds. So we will be busy too. Can't wait

I went to visit my 90yr old aunty today. She is diabetic and was very interested to hear about the LCHF way of eating when I saw her over Christmas.Today she made sardines ( in olive oil) on thickly buttered toast. She was so proud of herself ( bless her). I ate it all and it was lovely. ? Well what else could I do?

We tend to fall off the wagon especially at Christmas time. But no side effects getting back on. Good luck and welcome gg

Welcome ggmarion. I can't really answer the question about side-effects, but it seems unlikely I would think.

Hi, I'm new to this thread. I lost 2 lbs quickly on this eating plan but due to having visitors and 'falling off the wagon' I put it back on over a weekend. Will I have to start again from scratch, going through the side effects again (tiredness, aching etc) The 2 lbs I lost brought me back to my target weight.

Every other recipe I try out is a disaster! Probably me to blame.

I will probably do both, but will try out first. From experience have had some disasters when entertaining, usually with Delia recipes strangely. Everyone else think she's a goddess.

Yes, from the start. But there was another poster called NannaAnna (two n's in the Nanna as opposed to my one) and it got very confusing!

Just thought if you've veggie friends this recipe might come in handy for another time. Try it out yourself first though. We try to eat veggie at least twice a week. Having this tonight. The fiddly bit is the spinach.

This is a great low carb, vegetarian recipe that I posted on GN many years ago when I was NanaAnna. I now leave out the breadcrumb topping and just use grated cheese.

Just make sure the spinach is very well squeezed and everything is mixed together well.

I think baby turnips would be nice, squash was sweeter, but fine. We thought the topping would work on leeks or chicory as well.

Great. I want to do for veggie friends coming round for meal. I wonder whether to stick with turnip or do squash?

Reporting back on the cauliflower, pear and blue cheese dish Lazigirl and it was delicious! I hadn't got a turnip so used squash and I think baby turnip would have been sharper, but it was still good. We cooked the partridge in local pear cider so it all worked well together.
Would definitely recommend.

Plus anything (well nearly anything) you can put in a sandwich you can instead wrap up in a lettuce leaf. I love hot, juicy beef burgers inside a nice crispy iceberg lettuce leaf with mayo. Best if you make your own BBs then you know what's in them.
