Anyone else going to try this?
There's a Facebook page and lots of people have joined in the last few days .

Ah, maggie so that's why you're not knitting! smile and yes, the bug has bitten me!

Maggiemaybe Sun 15-Jan-17 21:20:05

Thank you, jogginggirl, I do hope I find the sunshine. I've had to make some harsh judgement calls on what to pack (we're going hand luggage only), and I really hope I don't have to buy woollies out there!

jogginggirl Sun 15-Jan-17 18:24:29

Well done gettingon and Maggie - I'm hoping to be back to it this week sometime....

I don't really understand it - it hurt like h**ll yesterday when I was walking and, today, it's been no problem. To be fair I have spent a lot of time in the car and then 'sitting' with my mum. I will have another go tomorrow and see what a couple of days rest has achieved.....

Hope you find the sun Maggie ...... envy envy

Happy walking everyone ....?‍♀️?‍♀️?‍♀️

I managed 23 miles this week, so have caught up on the deficit from last [halo emoticon]. For me that's good! We're off now for a short break, and with any luck a bit of sun, so I hope Albufeira has a lot of walking opportunities. I'll need to keep moving, as we've booked all inclusive blush. My One You drinks tracker is already looking at me askance, so I'll have to be really good when I get back.

jogginggirl, I hope your ankle has fully recovered by now. If it is down to overuse, I have to say it's a so and so when you can't do your exercise without it causing problems. How unfair! I had some really sharp pains, like an electric shock, in my ankle one afternoon recently and I've no idea why. I think in my case I can rule out overuse, though blush.

I've done well today-18000 stepssmile.

Sorry to hear about your woes, jogging.

jogginggirl Sat 14-Jan-17 20:20:23

Thank you chelsea.....

I've had a rough week - a bad cough, sore throat etc. etc..... Mr jg and I started a walk today - only to be interrupted by a sharp pain in the outside of my right ankle. After a few more attempts - sadly, we had to return home and I am now resting my foot ?

After consulting Dr Google - it seems it could be a sprain, a damaged tendon - or (more likely) just overworking it.... I don't recall any kind of strange movement or twist or anything, it just started to hurt.....??Oh well - at least I have the rest of the year to catch up ....?‍♀️?‍♀️How is everyone else doing ...? xx

jogginggirl if you can bear to go back on the fb site there is a handy printable pdf sheet to log your miles in the "files" section. Its for 2016 but i jyst crossed that out - it still has 52 weeks on it! I am feeling a bit better and there's plenty of time left in the year!

Grannyknot Mon 09-Jan-17 22:46:41

Pity Chelsea, great though that you've made an alternative plan.

Grannyknot Mon 09-Jan-17 22:45:08

I have no idea how many miles I've walked so far but have kept up an average of 6000 steps a day. However, I'm sure somewhere on the app it tots up kilometres grin, will check.

jogginggirl Mon 09-Jan-17 20:48:44

The really good thing about this 'challenge' is that we have a WHOLE year to do it.... bring on the long summer days/evenings when we can just stroll in the sunshine ☀️and add to our miles....

I will most likely be on 'catch-up' over the next several days..... with school pick-up and mum-visiting.... No stress - plenty of time to do this ?‍♀️??

Maggie - I haven't even got round to the spreadsheet yet..... HELP... I have my totals written on scraps of paper so far.....?

That's fabulous gettingon ... I am impressed with your sensible eating too.... I'm trying to adhere to that as well....?

chelsea - hope you feel better now..... I, too, joined the f/b page .... I had to 'leave' I couldn't deal with the onslaught of posts.... it was too much pressure for me...?

Keep going - better days are coming.....?

chelseababy Mon 09-Jan-17 13:28:48

I've a lot of catching up to do......been nursing a cold. I joined the FB group was inundated with posts - far too many. Maybe I'll #walk500 miles when that comes out!

gettingonabit Mon 09-Jan-17 12:51:18

33.5 miles last week. That's more like it! Also getting back to sensible eating at lastsmile.

Maggiemaybe Mon 09-Jan-17 12:00:24

Well, jogginggirl, I've only managed 17.3 miles in week 1, so I've already got catching up to do. I'm obviously better at spreadsheets than I am at walking....sad

jogginggirl Mon 09-Jan-17 11:50:05

That's another 5 'wet' miles in the bag ☔️?
How is it going for others ...? ?‍♀️?

jogginggirl Sat 07-Jan-17 00:23:48

Thanks Maggie - I was so touched today when my 2 divas asked what the jar was for - when I told them they both reached into their savings pots (stored here) and promptly placed 20p into the pot.... bless them ? They truly love their Great Grandma - we have been completely honest about her dementia and explained it to them..... they are amazing with her ?

We have a 'family weekend' here so we managed 3 miles today and hope to get chance to do some over the weekend.....

Maggie - I'm impressed by the spreadsheet - I definitely need to do this .....

Happy walking everyone ...?‍♀️???

What a lovely thing to do, Jogginggirl smile

A good idea if only my back could stand it. My back joints are now worn out. I kept walking for years with my back problem but the wear and tear on the back joints has taken it's toll. I still do a bit, but more than 4 miles at a time and I really pay later in the day. envy envy

I am hoping my next session of joint injections next week will lessen the pain. It does not stop the buggered up joints grinding together but it helps if you can't feel it.
What really hurts is any bouncy jumpy movements such as jogging is out.

jogginggirl Thu 05-Jan-17 22:53:51

Oops seacliff - hope you're not too sore ? I must admit I'm paranoid about falling having broken my front teeth on two occasions in the past?
We have enjoyed a good 4.5 miles today - beautiful day for it too! I am popping 20p for every mile covered into a jar labelled 'Alzheimer's Miles' (Mr jg too) At the end of the year we will pay what we have to Alzheimers UK.
My mum has dementia and Alz have offered so much support? Great motivation to get our 'boots on' ?‍♀️?

seacliff Thu 05-Jan-17 22:27:43

Just be careful on ice, I've been trying to walk a little most days since Christmas, am very unfit. Took a tumble today, it was mid morning and I thought ice had gone. In future will drive to wood and walk there when icy.
I love the idea of listening to a podcast to pass the time.

chelseababy Thu 05-Jan-17 21:11:59

Thanks grannyknot but it's not compatible. I've used google map to work out distances of a few local walks so will use that instead.

Maggiemaybe Thu 05-Jan-17 20:37:04

I've set up my own spreadsheet now, showing steps achieved every day, and running total of steps and miles at the end of each week. 4 days in and I've done 12 miles, so 8 to go before Sunday night. In my defence I barely moved from the sofa on Monday, following a very sociable weekend.

Grannyknot Thu 05-Jan-17 17:22:49

Yes Chelsea you may have it. It's called S Health. I'm getting on very well with it. I've not yet entered food data blush

Grannyknot Thu 05-Jan-17 17:21:33

Thank you shysal only just saw your post, will check it out.

chelseababy Thu 05-Jan-17 17:20:26

I've got a Samsung so maybe I've got it?

Grannyknot Thu 05-Jan-17 17:20:10

This was my best day yet, on a visit to my son and DIL.
