Comfortable footwear for daily dog walking?

I am looking for suggestions. I have a pair of great boots for autumn/winter dog walks, but need ideas for something to wear in the warmer weather. I am not talking about multi mile hikes, just something to put on when going out with the dog, around the village, on pavements mainly, for around an hour. I am finding it gets uncomfortable to wear sandals for this as I stride along with the dog and try to get a bit of a sweat up ( me and the dog!) in an effort to make the walk a bit aerobic. The problem is I dislike trainers unless worn in a gym. Anyone give me recommendations?

I have Skechers and also a pair of Reiker ankle boots that are light as a feather.

However, last week in the Salvation Army shop I came across a pair of Hotter lace ups in a gorgeous shade of sage green leather. Fabulous for summer. No price on them.

Upon asking the price I was told........ anything without a price is £1.
A bargain or what. They are so comfortable.

I live in Animal flipflops all summer. So comfortable because the piece that goes between the toes is padded fabric. And they come in lots of lovely colours!

I endorse Hotter shoes and have stacks of them. I have also acquired a pair of Skechers Go Walk shoes and a pair of their trainers too. Both very comfortable.

Merrel, Ecco, and Seibel

In a local shoe shop selling Hotter in their early days, I commented on the similarity of Ecco and Hotter designs and was told Hotter basically rip off the designs and make them with cheaper fabric..

Me too, shysal! Perhaps that's why I can't resist them smile

I like Lesara. I bought a pair of their " fitness shoes" for £17.99, and they really are comfy ( so much so, I bought another pair!)

Those remind me of my primary schools shoes, Baggs!

I can recommend these Red or Deads. Very comfortable.

I wear Hotter goretex shoes. They are thick enough to wear in our engineering workshop then out for lunchtime walk with dogs.

I like Hotter trainers as they are light and comfortable, but I wear my Skecher trainers for dog walking.

I'm another Hotter fan. Their trainers are the comfiest I have ever had and I can walk miles in them with no problems. But their leather flat shoes are also just as comfy when I want something a bit smarter. They last for ages so are worth the price.

I do a lot of walking and I find 'Hotter' shoes are ideal. They are very good quality and padded. I can walk for miles and forget about my feet. I have tried 'Sketchers' and found them too clumpy.

I wear Skechers too. I used to wear open-toed sandals, but have stopped recently since I had a few stumbles and falls.
The toe end of the open sole tends to catch on bumps in the path, even on gravel.

I'll have to have another look at Sketchers - I had some that weren't comfortable but they were nothing like the ones in the picture.
I find Ecco and Hotter are comfortable.

Another Sketchers fan here! Mine aren't waterproof so no use on wet days unfortunately. However, if not raining they are so comfortable and light that you'd think you weren't wearing shoes at all!

me too !! I love mine, most comfortable shoe ever!!

GillT57 Tue 27-Jun-17 15:47:53

Thanks all. Will have a look at Sketchers and keep you posted!

Merrels and other specialists do good walking sandals with half covered front and secure back. Apologies for the poor description, I've been cleaning !
Echo make good shoes for walking, that aren't trainers.

My favourites are Timberland. I bought a pair of lace ups for a city break, love them.

Grannyknot Tue 27-Jun-17 15:24:27

Skechers all the way.

LadyGracie Tue 27-Jun-17 15:22:51

Definitely Skechers, I have trainers and casual shoes, supportive and so comfortable

whitewave Tue 27-Jun-17 15:08:06

I must have a look at Skechers

shysal Tue 27-Jun-17 14:58:22

I am also a great fan of Skechers Go Walk memory foam shoes. They are so light and comfortable! I wear them for my daily 10,000 steps on pavements and fields. I find them true to size when buying on line (ebay), but Sports Direct is a good place to try them on and they are also cheap.

Another Sketchers fan. Use my demoted ones for walking dogs.
