Tell us how you are getting on

Marmight Thu 09-Nov-17 19:01:22

Not noticed the weeing. Am I doing something wrong? ?

Wheniwasyourage Thu 09-Nov-17 18:20:55

Happy Birthday, Jane10, flowers and thank you for introducing us to this diet/way of life. We've had good results from the 5:2, but like any diet, the effect wears off as the weight comes off, and there is still some to go for me, although not for DH envy. I think I'll give the 16:8 a go for the difficult last pounds I want to shift.

Our scales are becoming a bit erratic (honestly!) but my gardening jeans are a useful guide. What a pity that gardening is not something I will be spending much time on for the next little while. grin

Ahh, I noticed the more frequent wee! I’m having an early tea as I’m off to choir.
I put on my tightest jeans today as a measure for future comparison.
Might weigh myself tomorrow morning.
Well done * Menopaws*

Good afternoon all!

Been out walking this morning before treating myself to some new watercolours.

Put on 3/4lb so it is definately the puddings.

Grilled bacon and poached egg

Minestrone soup. (Just finished) with half a slice of dry bread
Chicken breast roast with parsnips potatoes and sprouts.
No pudding but a glass of red

See where that gets me.

Well done menopaws and Very Many Happy Returns of the Day jane

Jane10 Thu 09-Nov-17 12:36:39

Oh yes the weeing. I forgot to mention that. I tend to use the bathroom rather than a stables but each to their own! grin

Menopaws Thu 09-Nov-17 12:17:17

I've lost 1.5 pounds so I'm happy and weeing like a racehorse so something must be happening!

Jane10 Thu 09-Nov-17 10:15:57

Why not*Marmight*? Go for it!

Marmight Thu 09-Nov-17 08:53:40

Happy Birthday Jane. Does this mean we all have leave to celebrate with you??????

Jane10 Thu 09-Nov-17 08:52:06

Thanks all for birthday wishes. Bacon roll gratefully consumed. A nice lunch planned, a 'gig' this pm (these often feature tea and scones afterwards which would be plain rude to refuse!) then tea with DD and DGSs. Who knows, I may even have a glass of wine this evening. I'm counting today as a day off the 16:8. Another benefit of the diet. smile

Happy Birthday Jane ????

Yes, I’ve posted cake and wine but I think on birthdays you can push the boat out just a bit.

WW don’t bear yourself up. Keep at it. This is a very supportive thread.

Just a thought .... I heard my DiL say to her (obese) mother at the weekend ‘just because food is in front of you Mother doesn’t mean to say you have to eat it’ ?

NfkDumpling Thu 09-Nov-17 08:04:38

Confession. I made the Christmas cake yesterday morning. Without thinking I popped a small handful of almonds into my mouth! And ate them! I do wonder how many times I do this, adding calories without even being aware of it. I think in future all cooking must be done after lunch within my eight hours. Just in case I slip up!

whitewave Wed 08-Nov-17 22:13:56

Thank you all - yes I need to get a grip another day tomorrow.

J52 Wed 08-Nov-17 22:05:07

Don’t be so hard on yourself whitewave . As long as you do the 16 hrs fasting, you’ll get there.
Slow and steady wins the day. Remember that every lb or Kilo gone is gone forever!
I’m off to bed, no eating or thinking about food there.

tidyskatemum Wed 08-Nov-17 21:36:18

I always found that if I ate breakfast I was ravenous for lunch. Now I don't feel hungry at all in the morning, go out for a long walk and eat pretty much what I want from lunchtime onwards. I lost weight very gradually - not much more than 1lb a week but several months on I'm 2 dress sizes smaller and happily maintaining the weight I was 20 years ago!

Jane10 Wed 08-Nov-17 21:19:46

Don't feel a failure whitewave! You're not. There's more to life than being the 'ideal weight'!
Stick with this regimen, eat what you like in your 8 hours and sooner or later you'll see a difference. No rush though. Take it easy and forget all the calorie restricting guff we've had dinned into us over the years.

whitewave Wed 08-Nov-17 21:01:35

I think that I’m finding the 16hrs easy because that’s sort of been my eating pattern anyway now that I think about it. I try not to eat supper too late - indigestion, and DH never totters out of bed until 8.30 anyway as he’s an owl so we usually have breakfadt just after.

I think I’m going to cut out puddings and cut down portion sizes. See how that goes.

whitewave Wed 08-Nov-17 20:50:20

Btw happy Birthday jane

whitewave Wed 08-Nov-17 20:49:23

Today hasn’t been as successful as I hoped. I have kept to the 8/16 but the chicken didn’t arrive until 3.pm from the farm, and as it is frozen I couldn’t have that for supper so swapped it for a Spanish omelette which was ok, Sainsbury’s didn’t have any nectarines either for the jelly so i then made a blackberry and apple pie with custard and had two bowlful blush
Feeling stuffed and guilty.

Isn’t dieting a bugger? I spend my entire life feeling a failure and considering I am now nearly 72 and have been overweight since the menopause that’s a long time to be a failure.

J52 Wed 08-Nov-17 20:46:07

Happy Birthday for tomorrow Jane. Enjoy your bacon roll, you’ve already lost weight so one day won’t make much difference.

Menopaws Wed 08-Nov-17 20:39:27

I think if you now know you can start confidently then one day won't hurt and if you eat well in your 8 hours then something light to get you through but it is your birthday so don't torture yourself, just get back to it the next day and HAPPY BIRTHDAY tomorrow and what a sweet husband

Jane10 Wed 08-Nov-17 20:30:21

I'm the same Menopaws. I started off counting the minutes till 12 but now don't even notice and have gone in till 2pm without noticing (busy chatting!).
Problem tomorrow though, DH just announced his birthday treat for me - bacon rolls for breakfast. I wasn't bothering but he was so pleased with his kind idea that I'll just have to go along with it wink

Menopaws Wed 08-Nov-17 19:24:18

I'm def finding I'm less hungry at lunchtime by not having breakfast then I eat less frantically as I feel I have plenty of time ahead and I've still got ten mins to go but I really don't want anything, I'm not thinking about food at all, the only thing I have to do is watch the time I start my 8 hours,I'm liking this so far

NfkDumpling Wed 08-Nov-17 19:14:18

Sounds a bit anorexic to me Jane.

Jane10 Wed 08-Nov-17 15:48:59

I know someone who's doing 22:2. Hard core! Actually it's a bit worrying. He enjoys the feeling of being hungry. That doesn't sound great to meconfused

GillT57 Wed 08-Nov-17 15:38:04

I am finding 11 to 7 works quite well. Just ☕coffee in the morning and then light breakfast before lunch at 2 ish.
