I’m a pear !

I have returned to my own healthy eating plan as I need to lose a stone. I am pear shaped with a small bust, reasonable waist and overlarge hips.

On reading the ever sensible Dr Scurr in the DM this morning I discovered a healthy waist size is 31 ins for women and 37 ins for men. I rather smugly measured myself expecting a pat on the back only to find I am 5 ins over the recommended size ?

Onward and upward or preferably downward.

Thanks NanKate for your thoughts - I am reasonably happy my thyroid etc. are ok as my bloods were checked a few months ago when I had other issues.
To be honest I feel that my lethargy is temporary and will pass when the weather chills - it is so mild at the moment there doesn't seem to be any 'fresh air' about!
Glad to hear Panache is around and I hope all is going well for her.

Answering your question. Fourormore fatigue has been part of my life for a long time. Underactive thyroid, PMR, I have learned to pace myself. I nearly always sleep for about 30 mins after lunch but still have to go to bed early. I only have a few hours a day when I feel normal.

Hi there just seen Panache post on another thread.

I need to weigh myself on Fri/Sat to check where I am weightwise. Just had a few days away and eaten a bit more than usual.

fourormore Sun 11-Nov-18 10:13:11

Just another thought - has anyone any news of dear Panache?
Hope she is ok? flowersPanache!

Does anyone else feel lethargic?
I used to take a daily multi-vit tablet containing iron, zinc etc. as I know I have a tendency to low hb levels, making me feel tired all the time. My diet is good though so eventually I decided not to bother.
Over the last few weeks I know I have had a few 'things going on' in my life, but I have also been feeling really tired with no energy. I was going to gym/swim on Tues but a meeting beforehand ran over, so, running late, I didn't bother. Due to go twice more during the week but couldn't be bothered? hmm
I have been active walk-wise and also watched my food intake but I am really surprised to find at this morning's weigh-in that I have lost the pound I put on last weekend?
Where is the logic folks? I am trying the daily multi-vit again too as it is so unlike me not to feel motivated sad
Good luck everyone! Every loss, however tiny, is a loss!!!

Actually lost 1lb, most surprised lol....

NanKate Wed 07-Nov-18 07:30:41

I still eat what I want but in much smaller quantities. I don’t eat biscuits anymore but do occasionally have half a Slimfast caramel biscuit which I keep in the freezer. It gives me a small choc hit. I eat more salad especially my speciality of salad leaves, tomatoes, hard boiled egg, a few crushed walnuts and a shaving of cheese with low cal mayo.

I have a small fruit salad and yog for a pudding in the evening.

Shirley - hope your weigh in will be in your favour. What is on my average plate? well lots of salad and veg, no potatoes, very little rice, do eat lots of fish and chicken though. Eating out is my problem, so restricted in what I can choose. Seemed to have hit a brick wall lately, weight remains stable, bit gutting really when you follow a strict diet code.

Shirleyw Wed 07-Nov-18 06:03:05

I don't hold out much hope later at my weigh in, eaten out three times this past seven days ....twice with a dessert.....not a huge one though if that helps ?....Saying that at home my portion control has much improved and I still eat low carb. I fill my plate with lots of fresh green veg.....(and other colours lol ). I have fish a lot which is lower in calories and chicken.
What's on your average plate?
Must say, apart from weight loss I don't get indigestion like I used to at times, that stopped a couple days after eating healthily, another bonus .....

Don’t worry Fourormore it happens to us all. The important thing IMO is checking back here regularly. If we don’t I think the weight slips back on and before you know you have increased a size.

fourormore Sun 04-Nov-18 12:32:01

Up 1.2 sadsadsad Last week I 'lost' 0.2 which is silly as I could probably lose ounces by having my hair cut or cutting my toenails grin
I have had bread a couple of times this week and that seems to be my downfall - nothing drastic but enough to cause problems. Also only one gym/swim and GD birthday with nibbles.
Although I can account for it, it is still disappointing folks isn't it! Why is it so easy for us to put on but so difficult to take off? This week looks a bit dodgy with various commitments but I will do my best and hopefully have better news next week?

Billybob4491 Sat 03-Nov-18 15:29:30

When you go out for lunch I think its very difficult to stay on track. We have a Harvester close to home, they have unlimited salad, grilled chicken etc., which is ideal for me. Got weighed yesterday, stayed the same, was a bit disappointed, however today is a new day, new resolve.

NanKate Sat 03-Nov-18 14:22:16

Up three quarters of a pound. Not surprised as I went out to lunch two days this week. I shall be careful this coming week.

Was summoned to doctors as my BP was high. I was worried they were going to stuff me full of more tablets. I saw the practice pharmacist and showed her the results if my BP taken at home which were normal , to my great relief she recognised I did have white coat syndrome. I was advised to continue taking my BP at home and give them a copy of my typed up notes which they would scan into my records. What a result, so relieved.

Must weigh myself tomorrow to see if I am maintaining my weight.

However you have done it Shirley it has worked. Well done.

Shirleyw Wed 31-Oct-18 18:43:48

Lost one and a Half pounds this week. I was shocked as had a sundae the other evening after a meal and been picking at sweets today lol.....must say though I eat low carb and portion control with SW and don't have Syns every day, save them for going out and a tipple.

fourormore Mon 29-Oct-18 09:36:57

Buffy that's 0.3lb more than me! It is disappointing but it is down so let's go for it this week! Now the schools are back I stand more chance of getting into the pool when I do my gym/swim (funny how there's never a queue for the gym hmm!)
Good luck everyone!

Buffybee Mon 29-Oct-18 09:03:07

Weighed myself this morning and I've only lost half a pound.
Slightly disappointed but it has made me more determined this week.
And "down" is "down", however little. So ?!

fourormore Sun 28-Oct-18 09:31:53

Great stuff Merlotgrangrin - every little incident like that really gives you a boost doesn't it!
Weigh-in this morning and I have lost 0.2 of a pound grin - I know it is no more than a hiccup (and is probably due to having my hair cut earlier in the week!), but at the end of half-term week with various little naughties I will settle for that few ounces grin
On my chart it is down!!! Good luck everyone as we plod on relentless!

merlotgran Sat 27-Oct-18 11:06:18

Progress is when you nip to the loo and forget you're wearing an old pair of jeans and not skinny jeggings with an elasticated waist.

Pulling them down without undoing the zip = result! grin

Weighed myself this morning (I’m away next week on my regular day) and am back under ten stone which I’m delighted about. Only another 10lbs to go!!
Glad to hear about the health check NanKate and all who have lost any weight at all.
I am trying to be low carb and find breakfast, which has always been cereal and/or toast, the hardest - just can’t fancy bacon, eggs etc. Am have fruit and yogurt at the moment - any help gratefully accepted.

NfkDumpling Sat 27-Oct-18 07:47:32

My weight is still yo-yoing like mad. I struggle for a week, loose a couple of pounds, meet friends for lunch or some-such, have a starter followed by a starter and the weight is back on again! This weekend DH has found a joint of mutton - mutton - in the freezer which really needs eating. And so it continues!

Billybob4491 Sat 27-Oct-18 06:31:01

Thank you Shirley hoping to lose in total 2 stone by Christmas.

Shirleyw Fri 26-Oct-18 17:52:02

Well done billy Bob.....we are all chipping away at the weight loss ?

merlotgran Fri 26-Oct-18 13:40:41

Try WeightWatchers online, Hudo. You pay monthly and there are no meetings to attend. I've been doing it since May and have met my two stone weight loss target a month early!
I recommend it to anyone who likes a bit of regular guidance - like me. grin
