I’m a pear !

I have returned to my own healthy eating plan as I need to lose a stone. I am pear shaped with a small bust, reasonable waist and overlarge hips.

On reading the ever sensible Dr Scurr in the DM this morning I discovered a healthy waist size is 31 ins for women and 37 ins for men. I rather smugly measured myself expecting a pat on the back only to find I am 5 ins over the recommended size ?

Onward and upward or preferably downward.

Can anyone advise please? What is the "slimmest" coffee one can order when visiting Costa/Starbucks, cannot drink it black. Thankyou.

Yes, thats true nankate ........but its not good this week, up a lb

NanKate Sun 19-Aug-18 20:07:52

I like your style FourorMore chocs and wine.

fourormore Sun 19-Aug-18 10:13:15

This is CRAZY grin grin grin
It was my birthday mid-week and that meant birthday lunch and wine in the local hostelry plus another for those not available on the day!
I did try to be good the rest of the time but on one of the meal days we didn't feel like a proper meal in the evening so munched a box of chocolates instead blush and wine
Sunday morning weigh-in was dreaded but I have lost nearly a pound - as I said CRAZY!
I am so sorry fellow-strugglers as this just isn't fair blush
The summer hols are nearly over and that's when my crack down really sets in - returning to my old gym/swim regime!
Congratulations Grandmama - so close - really hope those last couple of pounds disappear soon - what an achievement, my target is still way off sad
Good luck everyone as we start a new week!

NanKate Sat 18-Aug-18 07:57:31

Very well done Grandmama you are nearly there. I have lost another pound and like you only have a short way to get to my own target weight.

Shirley I stayed the same when our GCs were here for their hols. I think we should congratulate ourselves for not going up. It’s not easy when you are catering for others.

Grandmama Fri 17-Aug-18 19:47:20

Still 2 pounds above my target weight on my target day of 15 August but a total of 6 inches lost - neck, upper arms, waist, hips, thighs. So I'm happy! but must resist the Thornton's little squares sitting in the pantry, only £1 at the Coop and Waitrose at the moment.

Shirleyw Fri 17-Aug-18 03:35:05

Been staying the same....my excuse is I got the grandchildren and pulled my back ?☀️
Great to see the weight losses

NanKate Mon 13-Aug-18 19:39:15

This is the Onward and Downward thread Grandmama so nothing lost except weight ?

Grandmama Mon 13-Aug-18 18:43:10

PS: I was on the Onward and Downward forum but I accidentally deleted it and can't find it now. There were a lot of posts on it.

Grandmama Mon 13-Aug-18 18:03:47

Another two pounds to lose to reach my target weight but my target date is Wednesday 15 August - might have to extend to Sunday. Shaky start as I posted some time ago but re-started with Onward and Downward forum. Feeling pleased with myself. My skirt was definitely not as tight yesterday.

fourormore Sun 12-Aug-18 11:28:23

Nannytopsy you and I need to start the plateau club!!!
Only joking, but I know exactly how you feel -last week I broke through the 180lb barrier at 179.4lbs and was so thrilled as I haven't seen a '17' start for a long time.
I have been really good this week and yet, at weigh-in this morning I am 180.4 confused so I am really miffed!
I do love this hot weather but by golly, it slows you down doesn't it and I think that is my problem.
I usually walk at a reasonably quick pace but the heat stops me. Sometimes we just plateau for a few weeks and then start dropping again so hopefully that's what's happening to us? We won't give up though!!! It is my birthday this coming week with two meals to go to - what's the betting I lose weight this coming week! grin
I have come to the conclusion that there is no rhyme or reason with weight loss/gain - it's so unfair!
Onwards and downwards/upwards we go as we start another week!
Good luck everyone flowers

Looking for something suitable to wear this morning because there was a nip in the air for a change made me realise I have gone down a size. shock

A great excuse to go shopping but I'm determined to hang on for the cooler weather when I may have lost a bit more.

Spurring me onwards and downwards. grin

Weigh not weight !

NanKate Sat 11-Aug-18 15:01:42

Weigh in day. Was concerned as we have had our two young GSsnwith us since last Monday and the thought of eating sensibly went out of the window. Well I weight the same as last Sat, so it must be all the dashing about that has kept me steady.

You must be on a bit of a plateau with a minor blip NannyT I suggest you Google to find out any way to get you moving Downward again.

Nannytopsy Thu 09-Aug-18 13:18:30

Well done Panache! On Sunday I was back to 3st3lbs lost but despite a very strict week I have put on 2lbs. How did that happen? It is pretty disheartening to be stuck at around this weight for so long.

merlotgran Wed 08-Aug-18 09:46:44

Well done, Panache

It's a bit cooler today so hopefully some energetic gardening (as opposed to pottering) will jolt me out of the inactivity of the last few sweltering days. No more weight loss but I'm not surprised as I've done nowt.

Onwards and downwards (with a bit more effort)

Alima Wed 08-Aug-18 07:44:14

Thank you for the welcome. Not doing very well at the moment. Will try and make much more of an effort when I get home. Good news Panche!

NanKate Wed 08-Aug-18 07:27:30

So pleased for you Panache keep going up as hopefully we are going down. ?

fourormore Tue 07-Aug-18 19:36:03

Wonderful post Panache
Delighted to hear of your gain! flowersflowersflowers

Panache Tue 07-Aug-18 19:28:36

My word you have quite a clan gathering Nankate with the one and same theme........and indeed overall you are coping because with this heat it has knocked our appetites and exercises to pot.
At last I seem to be gaining weight!!! Don`t fret newcomers I am the one that keeps losing weight drastically........and for every 2 or 3 pounds I gain I lose 4 or 5pounds!
But I have weighed daily for a week because I could not believe I had put on ......and kept some 5 pounds........but Hurrah! yes it seems I have!
I am now almost the weight I was when Nurse training.
I supposedly have this big `op to face soon, and goodness knows what that will do..... but for now I am one happy bunny!!
I wish each one of you continued will power and should you gain, don`t despair......BUT do try to double your efforts the following week...........we shall be the blossoming dancing troupe say the end of the summer (or perhaps it will be by Christmas!!)
Well done Nankate`s Dance troupe to be!!!!!

Shirleyw Tue 07-Aug-18 18:11:31

Remained the same this last seven days ....

NanKate Sun 05-Aug-18 11:09:33

Cheers Merlot, well done Four

It has really been great having support from you all. I am sure I would have given up by now on my own. My DH noticed today I have a waist Eureka, I knew I had one somewhere :-)

merlotgran Sun 05-Aug-18 11:02:47

We're off out for lunch today. DD will be driving which will be a lovely change for me not to have to drive. I've saved all my weekend 'smart' points so I can have a couple of glasses of wine and not feel guilty. blush

fourormore Sun 05-Aug-18 10:44:55

The hot weather is affecting the pace we can move about and I am sure we will all pick up when we can make more effort!
Weigh in this morning - I have lost 1.2lbs which is disappointing when I have been so good all week but I am happy! hmm
The big boost was that I have at last dropped below the 180lbs mark! My scales register pounds or kilos and as kilos mean nothing to me pounds it is! grin
I now have the magic 17 start being 179.4 grin
As long as that horrible 18 start has gone I am happy!
Onward and downward everyone - we will all have our little slips and disappointments but together we WILL succeed whichever way we need to go!
By the way - none of us are OVERweight - we are all UNDERtall gringringrin

NanKate Sat 04-Aug-18 20:37:52

Yes Merlot I am sure we will both be back on track soon.
