Hello all, I am new to posting on this forum but I just wondered if anyone out there has ever had a go at rebounding. If you don’t know what this is (I didn’t until I saw some classes at my local fitness leisure centre), it is a mini trampoline and you follow a series of exercises either on the dvd that comes with the rebounder or on you tube. So far I have really enjoyed it. This is the first time I have exercised at home and it really fits in well with my day. I am 62, retired and fairly active. It is apparently very good for joints as it is low impact so I am hoping it will keep me mobile and free from too many aches and pains as I do suffer from arthritis. I would be interested to hear if anyone else has has experience with rebounding.

No I haven’t but I do always make sure I’ve been to the loo before I go on the trampoline with my GS?

I haven't trampolined as an exercise but like Pamela been with the granddaughters....at Orbital they do a fitness session , I had thought of going but that's as far it went ?....yours sounds good having a mini trampoline at home, I think I've seen them , don't take up to much room does it? How are you finding it so far?

It is working out very well as I can exercise whenever I like. So far it seems to be a very good form of exercise which keeps me very mobile and free of aches and pains.

Rebounding is supposed to be very good for you as long as your pelvic floor is in good condition.

Nanamarch1603 Wed 07-Nov-18 08:39:36

Yes it is as it is low impact. On researching further it seems to also be good for improving weak pelvic floor. I am hoping!!

I still have daughters’ mini trampoline tucked away in the loft, balance isn’t good but I might give it a go....or (talking of pelvic floors!) am I an accident waiting to happen? smile

Nanamarch1603 My GP said definitely bad for pelvic floor ..... To be honest I don't see how it could be good for it with all that impact.

Pasted from the Net:

trampolining exercises have been shown to increase the incidence of pelvic floor problems in female athletes.11 May 2016

Oh, well that’s my new hobby scuppered!

There seems to be a lot of conflicting advice. I have had expert advice and read many testimonials from ladies who have had an improvement in pelvic floor function. All I can say is that for me I am very impressed. I suppose it is personal choice and trial and error. As we get older it is quite hard to find an exercise that fits in with our lives and bodies! Good luck to all who try it.

Nanamarch just saw this thread - are you still rebounding? I have started again after my rebounder was neglected for a while and this time I will stick to it. I refuse to go to a gym and it is great fun as I can listen to motivational podcasts watch youtube videos. I have to be careful to not over do it and gradually increase the intensity and length of exercise. Apart from that I walk regularly and stretch.

Hi Lumarei, yes I am still rebounding. Perhaps 3 or 4 times weekly. I combine it with walking the same as you. I find it very beneficial and has kept me active and feeling well. I hope you continue with it and find it helpful.

Yes, I also have small experience with Rebounding and you can’t believe, this exercise not only helped me to improves my balance and coordination but also helped me to strengthens the back without the undue strain that I usually experience when running on a hard surface.

I love rebounding. When I broke my hip, one of my biggest fears was that I would have to stop rebounding. It took a few months but I was do happy to get back to it. It really lifts my mood!

I haven't heard of rebounding before but was told by the Women's Health physios and specialist nurses in a Urogynaecology dept that trampolining is one of the worst exercises for women and can weaken even a strong pelvic floor of a young fit childless woman.
