I go every week, I found it hard at first - but once you get into it it's fun and very energising. Love Pilates, too - a complete contrast - but very relaxing. And this is someone who never went to any sort of exercise class before retirement!!!

I loved it to and went for over two years abut then our tutor sadly could no longer do it for health reasons - I really miss it but with Walking Netball, Croquet and golf I am a bit pushed for time - going to Warm Yoga trial in a few weeks when the new Wellness Centre opens in Melton Mowbray.

Loved Zumba Gold and went for 3 years, every week. It was great fun and we had a fantastic tutor. Then we moved and I can find nothing near me here. Sad as I really enjoyed it

I think I'll stick to yoga grin

jalima it’s not exercises as such, it’s dancing.
You follow the instructions that the leader shouts out, but you can also see what she’s doing with her arms and feet and your actions mirror hers. Ie, if she steps forward on her right foot, you step forward on your left.
Failing that, you copy the person in front of you.
Some of the dances are in mambo or salsa time & fairly energetic but some are slower, in tango or a slow cha cha rhythm.

I may look out for one, although I am a bit unco-ordinated and everyone else will probably be on their next exercise before I've worked out the last instructions!

If you find the right class/instructor for you then it's great!

I used to go to a great local class, which was 45mins and then ended with a cup of tea for those who wanted to stay for 10mins or so.

And apparently in Gold classes both feet aren't meant to leave the ground at the same time!

Zumba Gold is for older people. I've started going recently and it's a 45 minute class. As a pp said you just follow the leader though she does shout out instructions.

I'll have to investigate - I thought Zumba Gold was an extreme form of Zumba which sounds strenuous enough anyway!

I go to Zumba Gold when I can. I find it relaxing and energising too.
I did try ordinary Zumba but got too puffed out blush

I love it too. I found the gym a bit lonely but having fun in a Gold class is just great

I go every week and love it. It comes as part of my gym membership as does Pilates and yoga. They have just introduced virtual classes but I haven’t been to any yet. There is also gym membership, box fit, circuit training, spin cycling and other activities. I can also use all the swimming pools in the local area. All this for £25 per month.
My dh also uses the gym etc as he was referred there by our GP to take excercise as part of his control of diabetes. His membership costs are half mine as his was a health referral. Initially he received ten free sessions with the advice of a personal trainer.
Happy to give you the name of the organisation if you wish.

I did it for a while but unfortunately the instructor was disinterested so didn't show the steps to beginners, we were just expected to get it straight away. I am not much of a 'wiggly' dancer, prefer straight aerobic routines, so gave up. However, I would recommend it to Latin American fans as a good cardio workout but without any total body toning.

Age UK do classes but I can't get their website to work for the one near me. I think I would love it.

Gonegirl Wed 13-Mar-19 16:29:35

I looked like the bloke doing it on the work surface in that vid. Of course.

Gonegirl Wed 13-Mar-19 16:28:52

I just did my own version of that! On my living room carpet. I sang my own music. Did it for a whole ten minutes.

And while we're at it...Zumba Gold.

Do you do it? Like it? If so, why? Any classes to recommend? Any questions to ask of those who do it? Tell us all grin grin
