NanKate glad you had a good time listening to the jazz. It's one of types of music I hate. Love classical ,opera ,music from the 70's my teenage years but also love Nordic and viking music. Plus fisherman's friends who I saw in February. 4 concerts down 5 to go if I don't book more.

Went to Mendelssohn concert on Thursday which was wonderful. A friend was in another box and she kindly gave me a lift home .
Because I am disabled part of the Phil access scheme when I buy my ticket I get one free for a companion. But no one wanted to come this time . I always give the unwanted ticket back at least 4 weeks before I go so they real sell it or gift it . I am a bronze member of the Phil which goes towards musical education for children . Think next event I am going to is. Late 26/27 programme event so beable to get tickets early before they go on general sale. Going to see the Harmony Orchestra which is the youth orchestra all the seats are free a friend is going with me and we are in a box.

Sun that's sounds like a nice break and well done resisting all the goodies. When I go away I do have lots of carbs that I don't normally eat for breakfast at Premier inn . And always have to have ice cream at least twice .

MayBee that must have made you feel on top of the world getting in those jeans . Your eating plain is working well for you .

I somehow lost 3.5 lbs this week . But going out for lunch on Friday with my local GN friends . But I don't have any dinner so I can have a naughty pud. Haven't choked on any food since going veggie . But still dropping plenty down me 🤣🤣🤣🤣.

At craft group on Wednesday one of our members was teaching us mosaic . She supplied everything we needed.. I wasn't happy with my effort so used a thin screwdriver and used the otherside of the coaster to redo it .
Happier with my second try.

Have a good week everyone.

On the down side I have clothes I love that are now loose on me eg Sea Salt tunics.

TheSunRisesInTheEast Sun 19-Apr-26 00:46:30

Well done, MayBee, it's very satisfying when you can get into clothes that didn't fit before. I have racks of clothes that are too small for me, but I'm determined to get back into them 🤞. It isn't easy.

I’m still losing inches and a bit of weight. I tried on some jeans yesterday that I haven’t worn since I started wearing leggings ten years ago and they fitted me…last time I tried them on they didn’t. And this is with me no longer getting much exercise because of my knee. I’m eating three meals a day which includes tea bread or banana bread for late breakfast. All I can put it down to is only eating Aldi protein sourdough bread ( I had got into the habit of eating white bread again which always makes my stomach swell) having a chocolate chia pudding each day with apple, blueberries flax seed and full fat Greek yoghurt ( I think that clears your digestive system out) and then some sort of evening meal. Using Benecol spread to reduce my high cholesterol and taking plant sterols which, I think, stop your body absorbing the fat from food. I know during lockdowns I lost inches without trying because I wasn’t eating between meals. And I’m still trying to drink a glass of warm water when I wake up instead of having tea or coffee. I’m eating a lot less cheese and, when I do eat Aldi lower fat cheese. I’m not actually going hungry; chia is supposed to be very filling and curbs your appetite.

I am pleased to have lost half a pound this week. Me and hubby spent Friday to Monday at Warner's Runnymede Hotel, the food, buffet style, was plentiful and delicious. I was so disappointed to have gained the last two weeks, I was determined not to gain this week. Instead of a full English every morning, I had a poached egg on brown bread, with either smoked salmon or carved ham, mushrooms and sliced tomato, then a bowl of fruit, including prunes, always helpful!! Dinner was different roast meats, I skipped Yorkshire puddings and roast potatoes, but had cauliflower cheese, carrots, peas and a little gravy. There were some delicious looking desserts, but everything had the calories on a little card beside each dessert and they were very high 😱. Instead I had strawberries, melon, pineapple and banana. I resisted the fancy biscuits in the room and didn't snack at all. The long weekend was fun, good entertainment, a relaxing massage and an enjoyable couple of hours in Windsor on Sunday. I spent all day today cutting the grass, collecting leaves and doing laundry. I was proud of myself for not giving in to temptation and the half pound off is reward enough to keep me motivated and to do better next week.

Whiff and NanKate, at least we have Easter behind us. Onwards and downwards 😂 x

NanKate Tue 14-Apr-26 08:05:26

Good to hear from you Whiff.

The concert at the cathedral sounded great Whiff. We went to a fund raiser for Ukraine at the local United Reform Church. It was a jazz evening with a lovely mix of music to appeal to everyone. The local Ukrainians made some delicious cakes and there was a great atmosphere.

I have put on 2 lbs over Easter mainly down to having our 2 grandsons to stay for 6 days. I just ate food without thinking. I didn’t think I could manage so long with the boys but they were lovely and helped us when we got tired. I am really missing them. Our eldest 15 did a 10 km run for charity and came third in the under 17s. He was so pleased.

Had my covid jab yesterday and have a very sore arm this morning, but it is worth it.

Whiff Tue 14-Apr-26 06:56:19

Just realised hadn't posted last week anyway put 2lb on over the 2 weeks . I have eaten things I don't normally have plus been out twice and had friends in and cooked high cal food . But they always take over the leftovers. Craft week tomorrow so made a marmalade cake yesterday making a gluten free on today and tomorrow because I was discussing gluten free scones will make some in the morning to see if they work . Of course will have to try one if ok can take the rest to craft group.

Loosing 10lb Allsorts is brilliant. Like you say posts here push us on. I think if I put on I know I can loose it and being on the pears there is no judgement . But we all do it the hard way no short cuts for us.

Sun only a pound is good especially with chocolate and the variety of hot cross buns there are about . If there where only traditional ones I wouldn't have eaten any as don't like the ordinary dried fruit . Apple and cinnamon hot cross buns are my down fall and ate 4 . I know I shouldn't have brought them .

I am a great auntie now . My great nephew was born on bank holiday Monday 7lb 14oz. . At least I know the parcel of 6 sleep suits and the toy won't be sent back crushed and unopened . I always buy 3-6 month size . But as usual did the parcel then found I had forgotten to put the card it so that been posted separately. I may never see him in person but my niece will be sending plenty of pics and he will know about me .

Because I am disabled I am on the access scheme at the concert hall in the city. It covers all there venues. When I buy my ticket I get a free companion one . I checked it wasn't for a carer but they said no it was fit for anyone who wanted to go with me . Took a friend few weeks ago who doesn't like classical music but she has been converted and on Saturday we went to the Anglican cathedral for pop goes classical by candlelight it was wonderful. They played some of the pop music in the style of Vidal, Mozart,Wagner and a couple of others but I forgotten . The soprano sang a Police song as she said it always sounded like a folk song so they had orchestra played it in classical folk style . The cathedral is beautiful but the orchestra made it come alive and it felt different. I am an atheist so don't mean spiritually you had to be there to feel it.

Going by myself on Thursday to the Phil for a Mendelssohn concert. I gave my free ticket back few weeks ago so they can sell it or gift it . As it's not either of my friends cup of tea. Going in June with a different friend for the golden age of film music. This year so far seen 3 concerts 6 to go. must look on my calendar as think I have a concert next month .. Be lost without my calender .

After the 14 months I wasn't me still did all the things I do but having no control over my arms and speech really annoyed the hell out of me . But it did make me more determined to do all the things I want . Hence 9 concerts in total so far , going away 3 times may go away in August as well.

I have my control back and my neurologist put in his letter if I need to increase my dose from the extra 250 micrograms to 500 I can do without contacting him . As he said you know your own body .

As usual rambled on ..But it's so good to be me again I realise I am a control freak 🤣but that's been my life and how I have coped with things .

Have a good week. Move it or lose this morning then baking . 🤸

TheSunRisesInTheEast Wed 08-Apr-26 12:43:18

I put a pound on this week 🙄. I'm surprised it wasn't more, I've eaten the odd piece of chocolate lying around that the grandchildren had left, plus hot cross buns, I expect all the walking with them around adventure parks has helped to keep the weight gain low. Must get some off this week 😉.

Allsorts Wed 08-Apr-26 07:05:14

Completely let myself down over Easter with chocolate and eating out, so much I won't get on the scales until next week.
I had lost a total of 10 pounds. This is what I do. I just hope starting today I get back to eating as I should and Sunday when I weigh in I won't have put most of it back on.
Your posts push me on as a few of us fell off the wagon. Before me going off the rails I was a strone of my target weight.

NanKate Wed 01-Apr-26 21:13:06

You are making progress Whiff well done. 👍

We are all bound to eat extra at Easter but the difference with us Pears and Apples is that we get back on the wagon and return to Eating Less for Life.

Keep going folks.

TheSunRisesInTheEast Wed 01-Apr-26 19:19:10

I too like dark chocolate, a nice bar of Bournville, but it's a long time since I've had it. I also like mint flavoured dark chocolate. Well done on your finger exercises, practice and persistence paid off 😄.

I'm feeling annoyed with myself, I weighed in at SW last night and put on a pound 🙁. I know why, hubby wanted stew one night so I bought a tiger bloomer for him to have with butter. He only had two slices, so the uncut loaf was calling me to eat it 🙄. I had toast and butter, and bread and butter for the next two days, until it was gone 😱. I suppose I was lucky to just gain a pound. Determined to have a decent loss this week, I will carry on calorie counting and do my best to resist Easter chocolate. I'm going to enjoy having a couple of vases of daffodils instead 🌼.

Enjoy the Easter weekend, whatever you do 🤗.

Whiff Wed 01-Apr-26 12:36:19

Sun because I don't have chocolate very often I have found I like dark chocolate. Had gone without chocolate other than in cake which was either made with 70% dark chocolate or coca powder for long time . When I had some Cadbury milk chocolate didn't like it . I don't know if it's me or they have changed the recipe .

I am excited to tell you this and I know I am weird . Yesterday at move it or lose class weekly used a peg to do finger exercises. First time in 14 months I could close it . Tried before using both hands but couldn't shut it. Yesterday using my thumb and each finger in turn I managed to do 7 fingers couldn't use my small fingers or my ring one . And I could do it quickly. I was so happy I yelled out I can do it. Luckily both my classes have seen me struggle for the last 14 months but now I am back to me again. All because of the extra 250 micrograms 3 times a day with my 1mg tablet. Even my walking is straighter than it was. And I can clap again . My Sainsbury's delivery driver noticed I looked different today.

Thank you all for being here for me . 🤸

TheSunRisesInTheEast Mon 30-Mar-26 20:13:27

Well done, Whiff, on your impressive weight loss this week. It made me smile to read that you think you're weird because you wrap chocolate presents up to avoid eating them, well I've been known to unwrap selection boxes meant for my sons, devour them and then re-buy and re-wrap them. You don't feel so weird now do you?!! 😂.

If we could refuse chocolate, we wouldn't be where we are now!! 🙄.

But we are doing well, making progress, we'll keep at it and celebrate our success 🏆.

Whiff Mon 30-Mar-26 12:59:47

Just remembered I didn't post last week. I put on a pound ,but this week lost 2 and half pounds .
I don't by things I have no control over. I don't buy my grandsons Easter eggs I just give turn £5 each for their money boxes . If they want something other than birthday and Christmas they have to save for it. I brought them piggy banks when they where 2. When I buy my son in law and daughters chocolate at Christmas it's wrapped up straight away and labelled . So it's theirs not mine . If I didn't wrap and label it I would eat it. I know I am weird but it works for me .

Allsorts brilliant 2lb off .
Sun I am happy if it's only quarter of a pound off. As it's off not on.

CocoPops glad you had your first eye done and will get the other one done soon . When mom had hers done they reverse her vision so she could see distance but needed reading glasses. She moaned but I said it was better to see in the distance less chance of an accident or getting on the wrong bus.

All those people on weight lose hand have no idea if they will cause health problems in the future. What makes me laugh they gladly pay for a jab which isn't cheap. But I bet the same people wouldn't or won't have the covid jab . I gladly paid the £86 for my covid jab.

Here the pears do it the hard way and that's how it should be . There are no short cuts in life . By doing it out way we it gives you a sense of achievement. I never thought I would get from a size 32 to a 16 but I did and I am proud I am still trying to lose more no matter how many years it's takes.

Oops just noticed the time off to sit fit it's tea towel week . I will be back 🤣

TheSunRisesInTheEast Wed 25-Mar-26 10:26:13

Thanks for your encouragement, Shirleyw 🙂.

That's interesting, CocoPops. It's been talked about in this country, but we're still having to change all the clocks twice a year 🙄.

I too am enjoying the lighter mornings and evenings, it gives me a spring in my step.

I love to have the summer ahead of us, I'm not a winter person, I feel like I'm coming out of hibernation and can live again! ☀️

CocoPops Wed 25-Mar-26 06:03:28

Yes, Shirley the lighter mornings at last. Here is BC Canada our clocks sprang forward for the last time. We are now on permanent daylight savings time and the clocks will not change again. No more Spring Forward and Fall Back in future which will feel very strange. Most people are in favour.

Shirleyw Wed 25-Mar-26 02:45:17

Gosh, that’s a lot of folk on the fat jabs, let’s hope they can keep it off.
I’ve plateaued a bit at the moment.
Well done on the 2 lbs weight loss allsorts.
Half a lb is good sun. Well done.
Love the lighter mornings, nice to get out for an early morning run with the sun shining.

TheSunRisesInTheEast Tue 24-Mar-26 23:37:32

CocoPops, you must be thrilled to have got your eye sorted, it gives you hope and confidence for the next one 🙂.

I expect you're excited to see your son. Well done on your weight loss and exercise routine, it's great and all feels worth the effort and sacrifices when you see results.

I got weighed tonight and disappointingly I only lost half a pound. It's better than gaining or staying the same, but I have eaten sensibly and done strenuous gardening and walking so I felt I deserved a better weight loss.

I hope the 1.5 million people on fat jabs achieve decent weight losses, it's keeping the weight off when the injections finish that's the problem. It's amazing what people have achieved on them, but I wouldn't feel confident using them myself, I'd worry about what it's doing to my insides 🫤.

Have a good week of eating less and moving more 🤸 😀.

CocoPops Tue 24-Mar-26 22:24:50

You are all doing so well. Congratulations.
Allsorts If I had a box of shortbread at home I'd scoff the lot! Same with chocs so nowadays when anyone gives chocs etc I take them to my book group. I cannot have bread or peanut butter ar home either!
Maybe Like you, when I have a craving for something, I find it best to eat it but only a small portion.
Well, I toddled off for cataract surgery and now I have 20: 20 vision in one eye. Amazingly efficient service. I return in May for t'other eye.
Son no.1 is flying forth in July and it's good to have that date as a target to shift a few more pounds.
Meanwhile 2 dog walks every day add up to 1.5 hours or more, swimming once or twice a week.
Meals within an 8 hour window and no snacking after 6 pm meal which is very hard but I'm sticking to it at the moment.
I was reading an article in the press which said 1.5 million people in the UK are using fat jabs. Gordon Bennett!

TheSunRisesInTheEast Tue 24-Mar-26 00:12:41

Well done, Allsorts, on your 2lbs loss, despite eating an Easter egg 🐣. Like you, if it's in the house, I'll eat it. It's weigh-in day for me tomorrow, I had good losses the first two weeks but I'm not hopeful this week because I had a bad experience at the doctor's, felt fed up, and came home and ate toast with butter and a bowl of nuts & raisins. I'm annoyed with myself, but I know I'm an emotional eater and I needed something to pick me up. Tomorrow's another day, I don't weigh in until 5.30pm, so I must have a good day tomorrow and do some strenuous gardening! Hopefully the scales will be kind to me 🤞.

Allsorts Mon 23-Mar-26 23:14:09

Lost 2 lbs, tge only way I an do it is nit having anything in the house I shouldn't eat. I bought a friend an Easter Egg, then it haunted me until I ate the lot.If its in the house I will eat it. I am inspired reading about everyones journey with food as I feel supported. I usually weaken once I have lost a stone, let this time very different.

TheSunRisesInTheEast Thu 19-Mar-26 10:36:51

Thanks, Whiff. It's the thought of disappointing the SW leader that stops me from raiding the crisps/biscuits/cake cupboard! I thrive on the praise and applause 😂. It's that which keeps me on track and losing weight, I just couldn't do it on my own. Obviously the cost of classes play a big part in sticking to it too, I want to see results for my money 🤑.

It's a beautiful sunny day today ☀️, I'm now going outside to do some gardening, despite my aches and pains it's good for me to get outside in the fresh air, hopefully I won't feel like a stewed pear at the end of it 😂. Enjoy your lunch with your friends tomorrow 💐 x

Whiff Thu 19-Mar-26 10:10:18

Allsorts brilliant losing 6lb and the truffles is just a blip. We all have them but the main thing is we never give up .

TheSun well done with the 8lb . I tried slimming clubs in the 80's-90's they where fine if you lost but if you put on treated like a naughty child .

So doing it myself works for me . That's the thing about eating less for life we have to find the way that suits us . I love being on the pears it's free and it's a group of friends who understand eachother and we lose weight the hard way. No short cuts for us .

Going out for lunch tomorrow with 2 friends just less breakfast and no dinner so I can have a pud . Can't remember if I have said have gone veggie now . Haven't had meat for 6 years gave up on chicken last year as even stewed and shredded into little pieces after cooking still choked on them . Used to have fish out of I fancied it but don't see the point . At home I use Quorn sausages, mince and chicken pieces. Lots of veg ,pulses enough stewed for 6 days and my veggie and lentil soup again for 6 days. Funny thing I don't feel hungry normally I have lunch at 1pm but some days I forgot and next thing it can be 2 or after ,as I eat at 6pm add the soup to my dinner instead of water . As it sits in the fridge the pearl barley or beans I use thicken the stew up no idea why 🤷.

Anyway sunshine again today . Have a good week pears 🤸

TheSunRisesInTheEast Wed 18-Mar-26 13:18:25

Thanks, NanKate 🤗.

NanKate Wed 18-Mar-26 07:41:26

Well done TheSun 8 lbs is a great result. Onward and downward.
