Years ago me and a friend did the brown rice diet ( we still laugh about it 50 years later!) and I found it was only tolerable if I added Worcester sauce. I like it on lentil stew which I make sometimes.

I have a Fitbit Shirley but didnt know about the app you mention. Is that something extra you pay for?

I'm here NanKate . Went away in May and September. Already booked my room for Llandudno in May as I need an accessible room so stay at premier inns.
That book is brilliant . Like you said having the pictures helps seeing sizes. Like the eating out section . I don't eat a fast food places or popular brands. So found things that I have in pubs helpful . Liked the fact it showed how much chocolate and sweets look like .
Well lost 2.25 ,lbs this week which I am pleased about seen to have go my weight loss mojo back . Well hopefully 🤞.

Because my GP told me to stop having coconut milk as high in sugar . Had been making my porridge with skimmed milk and sweetening it with honey but have switched to oat milk higher in cals to skimmed milk but don't need the honey . And it gives me the same texture as coconut milk did .

Sit fit this afternoon but still doing my wake up exercises and 300 rotations on my static pedals. Apart from that my daily steps unless I go out are around 1,000. I have the app on my phone which counts steps gives you heart points,cals used and you can put your weight in and it shows as a graph. I have a step counter I keep in my trouser pocket all day so it gives me an accurate number of steps . My daughter altered the step stride for me as it was set for an abled bodied person .

It amazes just how many steps I do if I stay in . But I have to move about otherwise my limbs seize up on me .

Got a bone scan on Wednesday my daughter is taking me . She laughed yesterday when she read the letter as it says you are not allowed to bring your child. Did point my child was taking me . My grandsons took home my Halloween crafts the youngest chased me round the bungalow with the paper ghost going ooohs . Chase I mean hobble not run.
See my neurologist on Friday hopefully can help with my dam left leg. Stupid thing doesn't always want to work and have to flick it forward to make it move . Sometimes my left foot is turning inwards and pulls my hip . All very annoying. But I keep going.

Keepingquiet wow super fit 17,000 steps . Most I can do in a day is 8,000 that's on a Brain Charity day and fall asleep on the sofa watching TV.

Rediscovered the love of Worcester sauce in a stew . Went to Aldi walked up takes me 40 mins but I like the walk ,taxi back as I stock up. And saw the sauce haven't brought it for years . My husband and son loved it on cheese on toast . Gave my Quorn sausage stew an extra flavour boost.
Well better get on jobs to do before I go out.

Shirleyw a smart watch that sounds good. I downloaded the App Health it’s a white square with a heart on it and it’s free that is how I keep track of my steps.

It was a rare occurence- out on a day trip with family! However it has made me realise how I need to count them a bit more.

I've had smart watches in the past of various brands but don't like wearing things on my wrists anymore.

I'm sticking to the phone app for now and see how I get on.!

I got a smart watch , Fitbit counted movement so when I sat knitting it clocked up hundreds of ‘steps’ lol….ive certainly noticed the difference With my watch, I love it also when we go out for a walk I record on the strava app….i like my walk mapped out, even says the incline too….

Keeping quiet I have checked my phone by counting out steps as I walk and it is surprisingly accurate, so well done. 17,000 is a good walk.
I havnt been out this week but was surprised that I did 2,500 yesterday just indoors.
As for chocolate I much prefer plain/ dark chocolate.
Except for rochets that is.

I usd to eat dark chocolate (the proper stuff) so may go back to this as an alternative.

I walked at least 17000 steps yesterday (I use my phone so it doesn't include steps indoors as I have my phone in my bag) I know it isn't that accurate but it does mean another way of monitoring activity.

The least steps I did was just 220 on friday, but again this meant I didn't go out, not that I was sat down all day!

I've done calorie counting but in the end I want this to be about lifestyle changes that I can maintain, and there are calorie counting apps too- so won't be buying the book just yet.

I love crisps, and found some nice low 90 cal ones in Lidl.
Hav nt found any low cal chocolate though, my other weakness,

Well done for resisting the chocolate keeping quiet, and for saving half the soup for your son. Every little helps ….

I have spent almost a lifetime struggling with weight, so do understand how very hard it is.

Get yourself the book I recommend at the beginning of this thread. It has been a life saver for me. It made me realise the food I thought was low Cals is wrong, so now I count the calories each day, a bit of a drag for a few days and then you get the knack of what to do. I’m on 1500 a day and have lost 4+ lbs in 2 weeks, even including a nice meal out on our anniversary.

No Silverlining48 it wasn't homemade. I rarely have soup but it seemed to scream at me! I left half for my son to have later.

I was going to buy chocolate but managed to turn round and go to the checkout!

I bought some quick pasta too for later as I'm so lazy!
I know I eat too many carbs but what to replace them with?

Tips anyone?

If not home made ….

It’s a shock isn’t it keeping quiet. If socialising I can easily put on a pound a day when I am away, , that’s half a stone a week
with me always watching what I eat.
I was away for a few days last week and put on the inevitable 3 lbs but have been careful since and am down 3 lbs.

SWorld advise cutting down on bread and cheese, so bread and crisps both carbs are probably too much together. Was the soup home made or tinned? If homemade check the amount of sugar and the rest of those ingredients we dont recognise. Can be surprisingly high.
Having said that I had a small slice of sour dough loaf with pate (which needed using,) an apple, cucumber and gherkin for lunch. … it’s hard isn’t it. Keep going though, we all know it makes sense,

I braved the scales and I weigh more than I've ever done!

Something has to be done but not sure what.

I've had a packet of crisps and soup with bread and butter for lunch.

Tomorrow I'm spending the day with family and pizza will be involved, also invited out on Tuesday and know there will be alcohol!

How do people fit in socialising with dieting?

I have porridge, chai seeds, dessert spoon of fat free Greek yogurt and one table spoon of mixed nuts for breakfast.

I count my calories and am on 1500 a day, which to me feels like a small amount of food! However at the end of two weeks I have lost 4+ pounds. I know I have a way to go but I feel back in control of my eating.

I was away recently and there was no herbal tea for my bedtime drink. My friends were mystified when I just drank a cup of hot water before going to bed!

Suits me.

I had no bread for toast this morning- so have just had fruit and yoghurt with a few nuts!

How healthy am I? See how soon I get hungry!

I always used to have a cup of tea first thing in the morning. But, for some reason, when I had that bout of indigestion I went off tea. I still have a couple of cups a day but really look forward to my hot water when I wake up. Maybe it’s because the hot water sorted out my stomach pains and it has become a sort of comfort blanket?

I think a cup of hot water in the morning is a good idea. I sometimes put a slice lemon 🍋 in it to make it a bit tastier and always freeze bread about 4 slices a time, it stops us eating too much in one go.
I weigh every morning, it helps me focus. I have lost another pound today so maybe my two meal day yesterday helped.
I have never been able to deal with calorie counting though, I just can’t do all that weighing.

Yes I start my day with a cup of water from the kettle. I don't eat for the first hour and try to do mindless jobs like washing up and a bit of tidying until my brain is awake- then I have a cup of tea.
I don't drink coffee for a while after I'm up as I read it interferes with cortisol levels.

Happy anniversary Nan Kate. It was our 55 th in the summer.

I’m so pleased you got the book Whiff. I too have it with pen, notebook and calculator as my maths is rubbish.
