Anybody remember these? I used to do these sporadically when much younger. Very effective. Now that I am approaching 80 have taken them up again lengthening time on each level.

Does anyone else use this method still?

My DH used to do these in his 30s & 40s. Absolutely certain he couldn't do them now (80s)! I couldn't even do them back then and I'm younger than he is -- but, to be fair, I am an idle computer potato with a deep loathing of physical jerks!

Well what are they ?

I think these are the ones Prince Philip used to do.

I bought this book for myself at Christmas.
Yet to start them!

A celebrity, Helen Mirren? does them.
Sorry, cant remember which celebrity for sure.
Whoever it was said they did them for 15 mins per day.
I thought even I could manage that amount of time.

So they're still around then! (I don't live in UK so am out of touch)

BlueBelle : they are 11 simple exercises for every part of the body. The first is simple toe touching; then knee raising; sideways bending...the latter part should be done on the floor but as I would never be able to raise myself up afterwards I do them on the bed. In theory, to be completed in 12 minutes but at my age I ain't watching the clock.

How old is Phyllis meant to be?

Should have retired at 60 back then.

The exercises obv working in her case.

Not quite sure calendargirl, I know in one episode the authorities said she needed retraining in something as she is getting on for retirement…..lol

It sounds interesting and maybe something I could just about manage. Is there a web site?

Shirleyw I recall in one of the earlier series she was meant to retire and she didn’t want to, so had to sit an update course/exam to allow her to continue to work

I've done them in the past. DH used to call me a lead fairy when I tried running on the spot. He'd actually been in the RCAF (almost) doing flying training at the NATO flying school in Canada; the trainees had to do the exercises.
Perhaps I should give them another go - gently. They were good, I think. Thanks for the reminder

Anyone got a link to the exercises, on YouTube or similar? And someone mentioned a book … so title and author please?

A book is available from Amazon, various YouTube examples.

Ohh, just to mention that just because Helen blooming Mirren does these exercises apparently, it does not make them any more appealing!
Obvs, I'm not a fan of hers!
