The founder of Slimming world has passed away today at the age of 76.

A remarkable woman. Still writing a letter in each issue of Slimming World until the most recent issue

Not wishing to detract from anything, but she was only 76 so why the astonishment at her writing a letter in each issue of the magazine?
It helped make her fortune I expect and many journalists and other professions are still active in their mid-70’s! hmmhmm

No not astonishment that she was writing the letter, but still writing them so close to her death. While details of the cause of her death were not given in the announcement, it did mention 'surrounded by her family' suggesting that her death was not caused by a sudden heart attack or stroke, but by something longer lasting and presumably she kept working through that illness.

She had been ill for some time, but the end was fairly sudden. RIP.

Our group leader is at her funeral today. I just hope Slimming World will continue in the same vein. It is one of the few programmes which work for me.

S/W worked for me too. I now longer go but have retained the good eating habits I learned there. I will always be glad I attended.

Me too. It was more than the weight. After a year my tastes changed and I automatically eat better. My stomach thanks me for it.

Yes, I can't believe the difference to how my digestive system feels when I am on plan to when I am off it.

I have lost six stones with Slimming World, it definitely works. There have recently been changes and our consultants were quick to advise that Margaret was aware of and in full agreement with them. I no longer pay as I am in Target but still go every week as I have made so many friends at group.

Congratulations on your determination!
Six stones is a real achievement.

Margaret died in Majorca from a form of leukaemia, that's so sad 😢. Millions of people have benefitted from Slimming World, it has transformed lives, losing weight isn't easy, but her classes made it that little bit easier. May she rest in peace 💐
