I'm not sure I understand the responses to the OP on this thread.

I thought she was asking for an opinion but from the responses of a number of people that seem to have been here a while they're bored with her choice of topic.

Is that right ? Or have I totally missed the point?

Dear Sarah58
To actually answer your question ...

I think that seems reasonable. Branded school uniform can be so very expensive - having had 4 children over an 8 year span, I was relieved when uniform buying became significantly cheaper due to more relaxed rules about items bearing a particular logo.

It looks like the uniform the HT is proposing bridges the gap nicely.

As a teacher, I feel school uniform is important - it can be a great leveller and instils a sense of belonging and smartness, but it doesn't have to break the bank. There are also safety issues involved, especially with students who try to bend the rules with trendy footwear that is not fit for the school environment.

I was wondering if there was an underlying theme about buying shoes? wink

NO !!!

That is a source of great comfort. Glad not to be losing sleep over it.
(What was the issue BTW?)

Sarah58 Thu 28-Jan-16 21:25:43

What ?? The school hopefully will have new uniform by half term

Alea Thu 28-Jan-16 21:20:38

So down to the mild weather grin

Two weeks early, I think.

A bit like everything that's coming out in my garden.

Alea Thu 28-Jan-16 21:13:44

??????????????
It's never half term yet?

Sarah58 Thu 28-Jan-16 20:56:48

The school has had the same uniform for a very long time but the school finally wanted too change it to a more simple uniform like most of the other schools in the area

Ana Thu 28-Jan-16 20:43:50

OFGS not again! hmm

Lentilweaver Thu 28-Jan-16 20:43:00

hah, that's funny, about 5 years ago all the schools round our way were doing the exact opposite
I think the key questions are how many of the items are 'unbranded' and can be bought cheaply. I think school uniform is a good idea, but there's no need for it to be overly formal or uncomfortable

Sarah58 Thu 28-Jan-16 20:35:56

Grandson 11 high school have decided to bring in a new uniform the school proposed a more simple uniform and 85% of parents said yes the new head teacher said the uniform was to strict and I agree what's people's opinion ?
