My first thought too

I’m glad I do not t have a primary school aged child. I would not like to have them taught about anal sex, ejaculate or anything similar. What is wrong with the simple basics. With decent moral right and wrong guidelines. I read the DM online article and to be honest I was cringing for the families.

Good for him. Another example of the mad world we live in. I read the article and it referred to a video about wet dreams, erections and ejaculation, a BBC Bitesize video which the BBC has consequentially withdrawn.

Given that children at that age will have access to the internet and all that involves, maybe the focus should be on informed consent and how to resist pressure from others to take part in potentially risky behaviour?

I was excused from RE lessons at grammar school as we were RC and myself and a few others were allowed to catch up on homework etc.

Back in the day you could take a pupil out.
Then I think you couldnt?

But going by dr goo gle, you can now withdraw a uk pupil from part or all of a RE lesson.

I sincerely hope they are not teaching young children about anal sex. I find it hard to believe they would do that anywhere in the world, even London.

Yes, in many instances parents who do not question what their primary school children are being taught in school.

I'm not sure why religion needs to come into it at all.

The content as described in the report is too graphic for any Y4 pupils.
I can imagine that many parents might object to this, if the content is as described, on the grounds of different religions or none.

Last week my 13 year old grand daughter was telling me that she had been taught how 2 women have sex, and went into detail. I am 74 and it was all new to me!

I wouldn’t have given permission for my children to appear in a newspaper if I was really concerned for their welfare. Something a bit iffy there.

Paddyann - this “Christian” (your term) parent removed his child from inappropriate sex education. I know that many other parents, including those with no religious faith, would consider that teaching 8 & 9 year old children about anal sex is inappropriate.

I also know that many GPS are having to deal with sexually active teenage girls with injuries from anal sex that they're too embarrassed or ashamed to talk to their parents about. These girls are not only under age but are having anal sex, not because they enjoy it, but because their (also under age) boyfriends are insisting on it. Teachers, porn and the internet have a lot to answer for.

Why does being "christian" mean your children shouldn't have sex ed? Is this a religion that preaches no contraception or sex before marriage? If so its controlling a womans rights,his daughter should have the same sex ed as non christians ,though I'd bet most of the other parents say they ARE christian,they'll be the same "devout catholics" I knew in my teens who were on the pill and sleeping with any man they wanted .They choose what rules suit

Is this reported in any other paper or we have to remember that the Daily Mail does have a reputation for not letting the full story get in the way of a good story.
