Can't understand why anyone is wasting their time discussing it!

Academic new speak. My lads and I used to play “frauds bingo” at the training sessions when I worked in HE. Needless to say I am emphatically NOT an academic

It means we need to think about where we are and what we are doing at all stages of life ( well imosmile)

By contrast , I am very amused grin

Meaningless babble.
Years ago when I lived overseas I helped out at a special school. Some of the children were very disturbed. The American Head told us that these children needed ‘oral stimulation’. I suggested that we should talk to them. She wasn’t amused.

Word salad! There are high profile people who can keep up such psychobabble, which usually consists of lots of talking about themselves and general naval gazing at length. Leaving the listener questioning "but what does any of that actually mean"confused

I understand it, but what a load of psychobabble. I think OurKid sums it up very well. The bleedin’ obvious?

Great series, I agree. Brilliant scripts, actors etc.
I can't watch/listen to it anymore though.
Too close to the truth.

Urmstongran Tue 26-Mar-24 14:15:30

What a load of gobbledegook! Or, as it’s called these days ‘word salad’.

OurKid1 Tue 26-Mar-24 14:15:12

I think it means a lot of (pointless) navel gazing.

I absolutely love W1A and applaud the BBC for doing it.
Twenty Twelve was better though (about the Olympics). That is also on iPlayer.

I agree this sounds like one of Ian Fletcher's soundbites. 😂

SueDonim Tue 26-Mar-24 14:11:38

I’m currently reading Rory Stewart’s book, Politics on the Edge, about his time as an MP. It’s absolutely full of this kind of talk and his frustration about it comes over loud and clear.

TinSoldier Tue 26-Mar-24 13:54:01

I've been enjoying W1A again on BBC iPlayer. It sounds exactly like something from the script for that.

The fact is this is about identifying what we do best and finding more ways of doing less of it better, explains Sarah Parish’s head of output Anna Rampton, helpfully.
