High CO2 levels in classrooms are a silent barrier to learning

Research shows that student concentration and test scores drop significantly when CO2 exceeds 800 ppm.

Many schools operate in the red zone for most of the day because of outdated ventilation systems.

We need mandatory CO2 monitors in every classroom to ensure students are learning in an optimal environment.

Today's school kids won't have the pleasure of draughty classrooms, glass panels that rattled in the wind, having to keep your coat on in the winter because the boiler had broken down. I'm so glad to be able to have my windows and doors open now that we have warmer weather, I don't like the feeling of being shut in.

I actually think that’s a bit shocking, especially in primary schools and nurseries.

Why is this?

Why not open windows?

Most of the classrooms I worked in were so old the windows didn’t fit anyway grin

You can’t open the windows! 😱
The children will complain of draughts, then the parents will complain about seating arrangements, either their child is suffering because they’re too close to a window, or because they’re too far away from a window window and they’re getting secondhand which has passed all those other the students.
This complaint might
be especially noticeable from parents who fly a lot.
