Hope I'm not posting out of turn, but I noticed the other thread had reached 1000!

Happy Easter to all - haven’t posted for a while but do pop in for a catch-up and hope life is treating you kindly in most respects x

Smileless2012 Fri 10-Apr-20 09:30:45

That's good news Chewbaccasmile.

I managed to get everything yesterday but didn't think to look for corned beef! I wonder why there are still shortages where you are hugshelp? It mus be frustrating, I hope you're able to get what you need.

A better morning here this morning but not great. I'm looking forward to tomorrow when we should have plenty of warm sunshine.

Worrying news about the deaths in Americasad. Sending you a BIG (((hug))) Rhinestone and hoping that you're safe and well.

Take care everyoneflowersx

Funnily enough hugshelp I went for my groceries today and the shelves were stacked with tins of corned beef! I bought 3 tins, so hash is back on the menu! smile

hugshelp Thu 09-Apr-20 23:05:53

I do like corned beef hash chewbacca - not had one in a while but I usually make plenty and put some into a pie later. There's still shortages of quite a lot around here, no idea why there seems to be so much variance between different areas. But years of cooking for strange dietary needs has made me quite creative in the kitchen so we won't starve while ever there's some stuff to be bought.

Smileless2012 Thu 09-Apr-20 08:53:20

Yeah that'll do Chewbacca, thankssmile.

A total change in the weather today. A dense sea mist so dense that we can't see the sea from our roof terrace this morning so I'm really pleased we made the best of the weather yesterday.

Chewbacca Wed 08-Apr-20 23:01:42

I would Smileless, but I haven't got the main ingredient! I could do you an onion mash though?

Smileless2012 Wed 08-Apr-20 22:49:21

That brings back memories Chewbacca; you'll have to save me somegrin.

Starblaze Wed 08-Apr-20 22:23:14

Just gave mine to the cats grin

Chewbacca Wed 08-Apr-20 22:20:30

That's exactly what I want it for Smileless! Got the potatoes and onions; just need the corned beef to go with it!

Starblaze Wed 08-Apr-20 22:16:10

I have corned beef, I've no idea why. It's at the back of a cupboard with the pilchards. No idea where they came from either.

Smileless2012 Wed 08-Apr-20 21:57:07

My mum used to make a lovely dinner with corned beef Chewbacca I think it was called corned beef hashsmile.

Chewbacca Wed 08-Apr-20 21:02:49

I'm thinking of looking on the black market for a tin of corned beef! grin There hasn't been any available around here for weeks!

Smileless2012 Wed 08-Apr-20 19:43:30

No loo rolls and no eggsshock I'm really surprised hugshelp I've never had a problem getting eggs. Hopefully any shortages will soon be remedied.

hugshelp Wed 08-Apr-20 19:38:50

No loo roll in my shop. No eggs, tinned ham or mushy peas. We've only had one pack of loo rolls in the last 3 shops, but luckily it was a large pack. Still seems to be a shortage in these parts.

Starblaze Wed 08-Apr-20 16:23:06

There was no loo roll anywhere around here for a few weeks, so glad it's back as I didn't do any panic buying.

Smileless2012 Wed 08-Apr-20 13:24:37

As far as I know the panic buying of loo rolls is over 3nanny.

I'm surprised you couldn't get milk in Sainsburysshock. That said last week I was able to get skimmed for the first time in a while although I'd managed to get it from our local 'Premier'

For the last 2 weeks Aldi's had everything except flour. Thankfully I have one large bag of each, SR and plain.

I've already spent an hour on our roof terrace with my book this morning; guess where I'll be this afternoongrin

Starblaze Wed 08-Apr-20 11:06:18

Relaxing in the bath. So weird when you have moments of normality then you remember the whole world is different right now.

3nanny6 Wed 08-Apr-20 11:04:40

Smileless2012 ; It's a lovely morning here where I am and I also have done the morning routine.

Yesterday here was like a summers day and lifted my spirits and made for a leisurely dog walk.

I still need to get the strimmer out for the small area of grass at the front although I am off to the shops for some fruit and veg before it gets too late. Strimmer can wait until later.

3nanny6 Wed 08-Apr-20 10:57:05

Are the loo rolls still in short supply? I have seen some on the shelves but I am okay for them at the minute so have just been leaving them there.

There still seems a shortage of pasta(I do not buy any so do not want it) although the baked beans and spaghetti shelves are empty. Everything else was quite well stocked.

Oh almost forgot in large Sainburys there was no milk whatsoever that was a bit unbelievable as I have always been able to get milk. Found some locally.

Smileless2012 Wed 08-Apr-20 10:57:00

Another beautiful, warm and sunny day here, I hope it's the same where ever you are.

Today's jobs done, I'll sit out on our roof terrace with a coffee before doing my now daily exercise routine and this afternoon will be best spent sat outside with my book.

Hope you're all OK.

Smileless2012 Tue 07-Apr-20 22:48:59

I hope you get what you asked for hugshelp. We've not had a problem getting loo roll for a couple of weeks now so I'm sure if that was on your list you'll get some.

DS told us on Sunday there's a loo roll shortage in Aus.!! What is it about loo roll?

hugshelp Tue 07-Apr-20 22:43:28

Well that all sounded very lovely and civilised smiles
So glad you got loo roll star and managed your shopping ok.
We've got a delivery coming tomorrow, fingers crossed we get a reasonable amount from what we asked for.
Made nettle soup for lunch and cut the rhubarb and made pies today then sat watching the birds and enjoying the sun.

Smileless2012 Tue 07-Apr-20 18:16:37

Enjoying a wine, watching Mr. S. with the BBQ and listening to Cold Play. Despite all that's happening at the moment I am happy and at peace.

Have a good evening dear friends x

Smileless2012 Tue 07-Apr-20 17:39:20

You're welcome Madgran; it is funny isn't itgrin.

It's been a lovely day here today and is a lovely evening so
Mr. S. has fired up the BBQ againsmile.

We've eaten all the strawberries but still have some cream left so I'm sure I'll be able to find something nice for desert.

Madgran77 Tue 07-Apr-20 17:12:21

*He couldn't find anything to put on as a dressing so used one of his mum's sanitary towels, you know the ones that had a loop either end.

He put one under his chin, put a loop around each ear and then walked to his mum's place of work.*

Well THAT gave me such a good laugh!!! Thanks!
