Google photos and older faces

Are there any super-techy grans/grandads here?
As many of you will know, the Google photos app can helpfully search for individuals among the zillion and one photos.
I heard on a podcast recently that some facial recognition software such as that used in this search feature struggles to tell black faces apart, which is shocking.
But nobody seems bothered by the fact that it is also very ageist.
For me it was a bit of a gut punch when my mother died at 95 and I looked through all my photos to collect together all the photos I had of her.
Don't get me wrong - I love my mother in law - but it felt really insulting when the app turned up a lot of photos of her, mixed in with the photos of my mother. When your mum dies in your arms, you feel quite raw at having seen her slip away, and there is something very callous about this algorithm effectively chucking some photos in my lap saying "here's some old lady, will she do?"
Maybe I'm being oversensitive but does anyone here know who I can complain to?

No, but if you select them in your photos it "remembers" better.
