Just been googling Love Hearts! Lots of the messages are the same but you can now get "Text me," "Fax me" & "Email me."

I remember Cremola Foam Drink too, yes it was lovely, but i think it was the magical way it foamed up rather than the taste itself that attracted us children to it.

I remember Nutto Toffee, the corner shop where i lived used to sell it by the square because at 6d it was too expensive for most kids to buy when they only got perhaps a shilling or two for pocketmoney that used to have to last all week,

Also satin cushions?? Tiny little pearlised sweets that were shaped like a cushion and had a perfumey flavour, again to expensive to buy regularly but if i would ask for them if i was offered a treat

Oh thanks for that info Magsie, I shall buy some love hearts and see next time I'm in the UK!
I liked Old English Spangles to and once got thrown out of a sweet shop by an old Welsh lady when I asked for some in her shop in Llanfair PG. When my father went in to see what was wrong the old lady said she'd never stock anything 'english'!

Oh yes, Swizzles! Refreshers too! My mum always thought I should buy a nice block of chocolate but you got a lot more "rubbish" for your pocket money. Talking of Love Hearts, you can still get them but they have brought the messages up to date. The mind boggles as to what they might say!

Spangles were my favourite.

My mum banned Swizzles sweets in our house. They were made locally. I made up for the ban by befriending a girl whose father worked at Swizzles and always brought some products home. Love hearts were my favourite!

Magsie - I think your Mum was probably spot on but it didn't stop me drinking the stuff. Parma Violets?!* Yuch! Yuch!

Wow yes I remember Cremola Foam!!!! Mixing it up in a glass of water and drinking it quickly before the bubbles subsided. Had dreadful burps afterwards!!!!! A bit like drinking lemon flavoured Andrews Liver Salts. How about Palm toffee bars? and Jamesons Raspberry Ruffles ( a Friday treat when I first started work in the early 1960s) How about Corona being delivered to your house every week, Cherryade was my favourite and Lime and Lemon.

I used to beg my mum to buy Creamola Foam but she said it was "rubbish" and a glass of milk would do me more good! Other things that came under the heading of "rubbish" were Lucky Bags and Parma Violet sweets.

What about Cheese Whizz? Probably pure chemicals, but we loved it!

Creamola pudding is a 50/50 mix of custard powder and ground rice. I looked it up on the internet to see if it was still available as my children and I used to love it and that was what I found.

Oh I remember that one and my mouth is filling up with the foamy feeling thinking about it!! Great drink! Goodensss knows what the ingredients were and they would probably be banned in this day and age.
