I recently bought an Easiyo yogurt maker on special offer in our local department store. I've got an electric yogurt maker which requires long life milk, dried milk and a dollop of fresh yogurt but Easiyo is incredibly easy. Half fill the jar with drinking water, add the packet of yogurt compound and give it a shake; top up with more drinking water and shake again. Add boiling water to the appropriate level in the Easiyo flask pop in the jar put the flask lid on and just leave it over night. The yogurt is so good even my fussy GCs love it. Really recommend it to yogurt lovers. I've tried natural and strawberry so far but have bought some other flavours. Has anyone tried the drinking yogurt version?

Sounds much more complicated than mine; I just put in a teaspoon of natural yoghurt and top up the container with UHT milk and switch it on. Eight hours later I have delicious creamy yoghurt.

No but all my family like my homemade yoghurt when I make a raita to go with a curry!

JessM how long can you keep it in the fridge? I made some last Tuesday and still have a bit left. I guess if it tastes a bit tangy I should get rid.

I reckon yogurt is ok to eat until it starts fizzing, it's fermented milk anyway isn't it?

If it smells alcoholic, or starts growing a mould, then chuck it! The combination of the lactic acid and refrigeration should keep it good for a week.
I always put the pot through the dishwasher between uses to make sure it is really clean to start with.

I discovered Easy-yo in New Zealand where it comes from and am firmly devoted to it, except the flavoured varieties which I reckon are a bit synthetic.
