Bread sauce, apparently!

Greatnan Wed 05-Sept-12 07:33:23

Salads! I am having a vegetarian week with Anno, but she does east fish so we will be having salmon, new potatoes, and mixed veg tonight.
I was never much of a cook and once my daughter became very interested, and very good, I let her take over. I haven't made a Christmas lunch since she was 17, which is 32 years ago! Now she has time and a huge garden she makes jams and chutneys. Several of her children are keen cooks, especially the oldest boy who won friends at uni by cooking elaborate meals for them. She says she learnt in self-defence!

Ariadne - Now that quiche sounds delicious........Yummm

Ariadne Wed 05-Sept-12 03:56:59

Goat's cheese and spinach quiche - make my quiches with extra mature Cheddar and cream. Therefore do not make them very often!

And cakes - a mean Victory Spong (how DG2 wrote it on the kitchen notice board)

Stew and dumplings!

Grannyactavist - Does your jam work with victoria plums?

Elegran Tue 04-Sept-12 18:07:55

Under not inder, and takes should not have a D. Mind more on boozy cake than on typing.

Elegran Tue 04-Sept-12 18:06:38

Alison the recipe place is reached via the "Life and Style" link up above the forums list. Hovering on it with the cursor shows "Food" clicking on that takeds you to where the recipes live.

Or you could just cut out the middleman and type it into a post - but it will soon get lost inder future posts.

nanaej Tue 04-Sept-12 18:02:32

alison you can put it on the recipe bit..I just looked!!

nanaej Tue 04-Sept-12 18:01:32

well you could! i am not sure if people just post recipes on the recipe bit of the website or if they are sent to GNHQ first! You could PM it to me!

AlisonMA Tue 04-Sept-12 17:51:08

nanaej how and where do I post it? Do I just type it in here?

nanaej Tue 04-Sept-12 17:44:55

Alison have you posted your Jamaican boozy cake recipe..sounds lush!

Ella46 Tue 04-Sept-12 17:16:53

I used to make a mean creme bruleé (don't know if that accent is in the right place, I was trying the AltGr key!), and a yummy apple strudel, but not any more or I would need a gastric band! [fat slob emoticon]

JO4 Tue 04-Sept-12 17:06:35

I used to make treacle pud when the kids were still here. These days I would just eat it all. hmm

baublesbanglesandb Tue 04-Sept-12 17:05:06

Scones & Victoria sponge.

JO4 Tue 04-Sept-12 17:05:00

I don't cook or bake anything like as much as I used to. If I make cakes and puddings these days, it's me who gets fat. Apart from when the grandsons visit. They love my chocolate cake.

My actual dinners have always been very down to earth, meat and two veg type of thing. DD2 does much more interesting and delicious dinners than I do. I can't stand faffing with a lot of ingredients.

I could be just lazy.

vampirequeen Tue 04-Sept-12 16:49:53

Bread

AlisonMA Tue 04-Sept-12 16:33:57

Butternut me too. They travel miles for my treacle pud. I make a mean Jamaican Black Cake too, you would not believe how much booze can go into one cake! wine
