Found some frozen laverbread in the freezer. Forgot it was there. What a nice surprise. But it is something you have to grow up with to appreciate. Because to be frank it looks like something that came out of a cows backside.
Tried grey peas with bacon the other day. Local fare where DH comes from. Did not look a lot more enticing than the laverbread and the name is not much to write home about either. But quite nice - and much nicer than their other speciality which is chips-dipped-in-bright-orange-batter.
What's your favourite local delicacy. And has anyone got a recipe for greypeaswithbacon please.

Quite rich (horribly fattening) I'm afraid. Definitely designed for a hard day down the tin mine.

Deedaa I love saffron buns too, specially the lovely home made ones we used to buy in the farmer's market at Truro, when we lived in Cornwall. Don't know whether the stall is still there. maybe a good excuse to go back for a holiday and check!

Staffordshire oatcakes with bacon and cheese....delicious. Staffs oatcakes are more like an oaty pancake not those funny little biscuit they eat in Scotland.wink

My husband says his Nan used to make Lent Pie. He says it was wonderful, but he can't remember what was in it. She was a Maid of Kent.
