Next time you make one pot meal, (wait for it!) ........

Make double quantity and freeze half for another day!

Bet you hadn't thought of that.

You could keep a ladle by the bed. Or just swoosh a cup in the mulch. Or buy a teasmaid. Or train up your DH better.

I'm wondering a bit how you would get it out of the slow cooker pot and into your cup. Don't think I could drink straight out of my slow cooker. (which I have never actually taken out of its box) (being more a microwave sort of a girl)

Would that really work when? I could so do with an early morning cuppa. And DH doesn't oblige. hmm

I have two freezers full of ufos if anyone wants them.
At the moment I have no kitchen as EVERYTHING has been packed away so that the work surfaced can be replaced on Friday.
Gary and Kate literally did pack it all and I have nothing to prepare, cook, or even eat with!
Must remember in future to not be so general in instructions to people with literal minds!
They won't be replaced until next Monday either. And as I'm at work, heaven knows where they'll put anything. Kate's mind seems to work differently to mine!

Would it work with a coffee bean?hmm

For a daily morning treat, keep a Slow Cooker in the bedroom, preferably next to the bed, and before retiring pop in a teabag and some water, switch on and in the morning you can enjoy a perfect cup of tea in bed. grin

As Stephen Fry has mentioned, you can keep a bee if you like a drop of honey grin

And in less time than it takes to paint the Forth Bridge defrost the fridge, you can make your own mustard so you don't need to trudge round a supermarket looking for it?

Ariadne Tue 03-Sept-13 17:40:18

There's the old one too - pour leftover wine into ice cube trays ready to add to casseroles. Leftover wine??? Wotsat, then?

j08 Tue 03-Sept-13 17:37:43

You go and eat 'em then. Blackfly and all. hmm

MiceElf Tue 03-Sept-13 17:35:25

The marigolds are blooming beautifully in my garden as are the nasturtiums. They make a splendid garnish for a blackberry. Aesthetically pleasing as well as nutritious.

j08 Tue 03-Sept-13 17:29:07

Jess ! Stop joining in! hmm

You should n't extract the you-know-what when. shock

That's just not nice.

I'm a simple little believing soul. [sob]

JessM Tue 03-Sept-13 17:09:15

grin
I just picked a sloe. I'm not keen of sloe gin, and anyway gin is far too expensive these days, so I'll pop it into the freezer while I do some research on other recipes for the use of sloes. Such a wonderful harvest in the hedgerows at the moment. grin

whenim64 Tue 03-Sept-13 13:31:24

That was to Jingle

whenim64 Tue 03-Sept-13 13:30:35

In reverse on this occasion! grin

thatbags Tue 03-Sept-13 13:30:09

when! LOVE the blackberry post! grin grin grin

j08 Tue 03-Sept-13 13:24:58

One upmanship on Gransnet?! Never! grin

whenim64 Tue 03-Sept-13 13:23:08

Have I heck!! grin

This thread reminds me of that Richard E Grant and Arabella Weir 'Posh Nosh' spoof, where they patronisingly demonstrate bizarre recipes to show how 'one-up' they are grin

j08 Tue 03-Sept-13 13:19:19

Don't go and lose it.

j08 Tue 03-Sept-13 13:18:55

You haven't?!!! shock

whenim64 Tue 03-Sept-13 13:17:11

I found a solitary blackberry in the garden this morning, so I've frozen it until next time I make an apple and blackberry pie [smug emoticon] grin

AlieOxon Tue 03-Sept-13 13:09:33

I stick address labels on. When I remember..... I think I have some UFOs too (I like that term!)

I do the freeze the extra all the time....cooking for one often means I have to buy portions for two!

Elegran Tue 03-Sept-13 13:05:02

You can also buy chinagraph pencils which do the same thing. They do need white spirit to clean the writing off again though!
