Looking at the Sugar in Food thread, I just wondered what the most unusual breakfast among gransnetters will be. I'm in an eat whatever's kicking around mood and today I've had:

An over-lemoned (put juice in as well as grated zest) date slice
A pot of Assam Harmutty tea with whole milk (only kind we buy)

The above is my usual "dew bit" (c/f Thomas Hardy, Jude). Sometimes nutty flapjack instead of date slice.

A pear
A paté sandwich (forgotten what kind of paté but it's a good one from Waitrose and it needs using up)
Mug of teabag tea

I'm on a very low calorie diet in a bid to reverse my diagnosis of pre-diabetes. So, two boiled eggs for breakfast, home made veggie soup for lunch. Dinner will be half a chicken breast with home grown mange tout and French beans. Snack is a small handful of almonds twice a day. One cup of normal tea with skimmed milk (my usual) each day and water or green tea.

Herb tea and bran flakes with soya milk for breakfast.
Large cappuccino mid morning.
Three small slices of wholemeal toast with two eggs scrambled for lunch, followed by a drink of hot chocolate.
Three heaped teaspoons of crunchy peanut butter in the afternoon with a drink of water.

I plan red cabbage with veggie sausages for dinner in a minute, followed by vanilla yoghurt and a glass of red wine.

Looks like we are all 'very good' on here, and that most of us are on diets? Also, seems like we all need loads of mugs of tea to get us kick-started.I only used to have one, now I always have two.
Two mugs of tea for breakfast, one small banana [no sugar in tea]
small portion chicken curry and rice for lunch and coffee.
nothing this evening as yet, but will have a yoghurt later on.

I am not at all good. And I am not on a weight-loss diet.

Ana Tue 04-Feb-14 18:49:39

Neither am I. But then again, I'm not going to list what I eat in a day either - food doesn't really interest me that much.

jinglbellsfrocks Tue 04-Feb-14 18:57:41

Oh God! It does me! shock

Except when it comes to cooking the dinner. Today was a throw-it-all-in-together stew. (delicious in the event)

Hate cooking the dinner!

jingle it was a very large piece of shortbread and a weak moment. I am trying to lose some weight so when I get the urge to snack I drink a glass of water.grin

jinglbellsfrocks Tue 04-Feb-14 19:33:18

Just to clarify my confused post, glass, I was wondering about the 30 minutes. Is that the time it takes for you to feel full, or hadn't you eaten it yet?

I read somewhere that if you eat porridge oats it has the same effect as all the fancy probiotic products so surely a bit of sugar won't hurt?

Brendawymms Wed 05-Feb-14 07:36:32

Yesterday
One Weetabix and milk cup of tea
Coffee with milk
Open sandwich with prawns. Cup of tea
Cup of tea
Smoked haddock and poached egg, apple, cup of tea.

shysal Wed 05-Feb-14 08:47:37

Yesterday I bought a 480ml tub of Asda peanut butter crunch ice cream for GCs. Ate the whole lot in installments during the day! That was on top of porridge for breakfast, home made Scotch Broth for lunch and Mary Berry souffle crouton fish pie (as featured on Food and Drink TV programme last week, rather rich but delicious!) baked in my new Remoska for dinner.
Fasting day today, I do alternates.

Nelliemoser Wed 05-Feb-14 09:21:17

Ouch Shysal I thought that was a whole tub of peanut butter itself you had eaten to start with!

kittylester Wed 05-Feb-14 10:04:05

Dinner last night

Smoked duck with caramelised apple and a honey and hazelnut dressing (DH had the same but he had blackpudding with it too envy)

Roast lamb with dauphinoise potatoes, curly kale and tomato, onion and canellini [sp] bean fricassee. (I hate canellini beans but the rest of it was nice)
No pudding [halo]
Two glasses of wine
2 cups of tea with semi skimmed milk and 1 sugar

This morning

2 mugs of tea with ss milk and 1 sugar
big bowl of fruit
smoked salmon with scrambled eggs
Gf toast, butter and marmalade
